Chapter 643: Chapter 7 Collective Therapy_1

"Remember to apply the medicine on time." Lina half-kneeled and placed her hand on an old lady’s forehead. The pain that once clouded the lady’s face had faded, replaced by a relaxed expression that hadn’t surfaced in a long time. The old lady held onto Lina’s hand firmly, unwilling to let go. Lina tenderly stroked the lady’s hair, comforting her like a child, "Rest assured, you’ll be fine. When you get home, have your children change the medicine for you as I have instructed. After a few days, you’ll be completely healed. Don’t worry; the discomfort will be gone soon. Look, others are waiting for me to heal them, surely you can’t bear to see them suffering either, am I right?"

The old woman grinned as she let go of Lina’s hand, allowing her to stand up smoothly. The patient’s family encircled Lina with grateful looks. Their scarce vocabulary failed to express their feelings; they could only constantly thank her.

"Stop bothering me." Lina waved her hand impatiently and turned away. However, when no one was looking, a gleam lit up her fair face. Her healing speed was quick, and more people were gradually leaving in good health. Those patients who needed rest were lifted from the long tables. Lina’s impatient and fierce expression frightened the patient’s relatives, and they didn’t dare to approach nor speak to her. However, the children, who should have most feared strangers, seemed to rely on their sharp intuition and felt something else. They were not scared but curious, watching as Lina’s hands radiated with light one moment, then retrieving medicine in the next, healing the adults lying on the tables.

"Go away, you annoying children, I’ve had enough!" After quietly being followed by children for a while, Lina suddenly turned around and roared at them with an intimidating expression, "Stay away from me; otherwise, I’ll eat you, now go!"

The children screamed in surprise, and over twenty kids scattered in every direction. But soon after Lina turned her back again, they gathered once more, secretly following her. They were curious and amused by Lina’s bustling efforts, albeit they maintained a slightly further distance. Thus, after each treatment, Lina would turn around and furiously roar at the children. Yet, as she did that repeatedly, the children seemed to fear her less and would gather and chuckle every time she turned to glare at them, as if they had just witnessed something interesting.

"Are you a few just here for the show? Help out." Lina couldn’t take it anymore, calling out unhappily to the three girls seated nearby. Then she turned to the crowd, "Watch your kids, or I’ll beat them."

After an hour of interaction, the villagers fully understood Lina’s quirks. They were no longer fearful of Lina’s boisterous screaming; they chuckled and gathered their children. However, once they turned away, the energetic children would slip away again, scurrying through the crowd, making it impossible to find them.

"You seem to be having fun," Freya said, relaxing at a nearby table and watching the fun, her chin resting on her hands. She was the only one of the three girls who responded to Lina’s comments, saying cheekily, "You’re keeping them from getting bored and catching a chill outside. Also, you’re playing games with them while treating their injuries. That’s nice, isn’t it? Besides, you look pretty happy. Where do you need our help?"

"Shut up, you’re annoying. Like I have that much free time," Lina grumbled, shaking her fist at Freya, before turning back. She was startled as she noted, "What happened to you? Your arms are severely burned; they’re fresh injuries. I didn’t hear about any fires in the town recently. If this isn’t treated in time, you might lose both your arms."

Even though Freya had previously teased Lina, she applauded quietly as Lina got back to business. She attracted the children’s attention and swiftly assembled a couple of strange-looking small metal puppets that hopped around, leading the children on a merry chase around the edge of the hall, lifting a weight off Lina’s shoulders.

"Bang," Lina suddenly slammed the table, pointing at the burn victim and bellowing, "Say that again. How did you get burned? Carrying a boiling pot of soup up to your wife? Do you have a sight problem? Even if you’re blind, didn’t the burn hurt? Why didn’t you immediately let go? In the future, after you’ve had too much to drink, go to bed. Stop making noise, and I’ll treat you. Yes, I’ll treat you so that next time you can hold onto another boiling pot, or maybe jump right in one. I’ve found people here to be really amazing. They can give up their lives but they can never give up their liquor."

The great hall door creaked open once more as Catherine, and Pannis draped in thick clothes entered the hall. Catherine brushed off the snow on her clothes and asked, baffled, "What’s going on? Why are you so angry while healing? Who upset you this time?"

"Humph." Although Lina continued grumbling, her healing went unhindered. Treating such burns was rather simple for a legendary-rank priest like her. A few straightforward divine spells swiftly handled the injury, following which she neatly bandaged the man’s arms after applying an ointment. Only then did she snort and turn away, refusing to meet the grateful gaze of the man and his family, "Leave quickly! I don’t want to ever see you again."

"Okay, I get it," Catherine shrugged, made her way through the villagers, sat down beside Freya, and stated, "It’s more or less settled. We’re heading to the Dragon Worship Autonomous Prefecture with the liaison in four days. So, everyone can rest well for a few days. Although it’s highly unlikely that we’ll have to walk into the Magical Beast Forest, in case we face an unexpected situation, we wouldn’t end up physically exhausted. Lina, how’s it going on your end? A lot of people really did show up, huh?"

"Nearly done," said Lina as she finished bandaging a young boy’s injured leg. She spanked his bottom a few times and barked irritably, "Next time, continue being disobedient and then break your leg again, hmm? Now you’ll have real reason to cry."

"Thank you, sister." Another little girl didn’t go to see the puppets with the other children, but tugged at a corner of Lina’s clothes beside her, raising her hand and saying, "Thank you for making brother play with me again. This piece of candy is for you."

Lina glanced at the piece of candy that the little girl had been clutching in her tiny hand, which was now grubby, took it and popped it directly into her mouth, handed out her own snacks to the girl, turned her head away without looking at the little girl’s happy eyes, and gruffly said, "Go play with your brother, don’t bother me."

"Pfft," Catherine couldn’t help covering her mouth and laughing at the character role Lina has chosen this time, and shook her head helplessly to Freya beside her, "Has she been like this all day?"

"Yeah, all morning." Freya withdrew the puppet under the disappointed gazes of the children around her, "I think Lina is cute like this."

The healing was basically over, the bearded mayor walked up to Lina with a smile that wrinkled his face, just about to express his gratitude, but Lina glared at him, "Tell them to stop making noise, and stand quietly. Hurry."

The mayor was completely confused, but still followed Lina’s request, and soon the villagers fell silent, watching Lina with both bewilderment and gratitude as she climbed onto the table. The silver-haired priestess girl didn’t talk nonsense, she stretched her body, raised her hands high, and her fists started to gather a gentle white light. She lowered her head and recited solemn prayers in a low voice. At the end of the prayers, she spreads open her hands, a bright light burst from her hands, slowly drifting down from above the heads of everyone in the town. The scattering, colorful specks of light danced in the air, as if a shower of light was raining down in the hall.

"Oh, my god." A short exclamation erupted from the townsfolk, quickly silenced by those around them. Since these people were mostly spending their lives in the town without having the chance to see such large-scale divine spells, they were stunned by the effect of the spell’s light and shadow. But soon, the reason for their shock changed. As the light shower fell on them, they felt an unprecedented comfort enveloping them from every pore of their bodies, feeling warm all over. Minor health ailments that were troubling them disappeared under the shower of light, and they felt healthier than ever before.

"It’s too loud, everyone get out of here." Lina diverted her gaze and yelled, immediately jumped down from the table, ran to Catherine’s side, skillfully using Freya’s figure to block the villagers’ view, coldly saying, "These people are so annoying, let’s go back to the room. I don’t want to stay here for another minute."

"Alright, alright." Catherine couldn’t help but feel helpless about Lina’s perverse personality this time. She smiled apologetically at the mayor who hurried over and said, "Sorry but we need to leave now, Mayor. Could you explain to the others for us? I have already made contact with the liaison of the Dragon Worship tribe, and we will be leaving together in four days. We will be staying in the tavern of the town during this period, so feel free to find us there if you need anything."

"I really don’t know how to thank you." The bearded mayor was moved, taking his hat off and putting it back on constantly, stuttering, "We don’t have anything good in the town to offer as a payment, but I can’t let you put in all these efforts for nothing."

"What do you think would be a fair price for hiring a Gold Rank Adventure Group, Mr. Mayor?" Freya chuckled and shook her head, "So just forget it and..."

"Room charge." Catherine suddenly cut off Freya’s words, placed both hands on the mayor’s shoulders, and said seriously, "I request the town to cover our accommodation costs for these four days. Understood?"

"Uh? Oh." The mayor was startled, staring blankly at Catherine who looked like she was willing to rob him, and could only nod subconsciously.

"Good, that’s settled then." Catherine patted the mayor’s arm with satisfaction, "Alright, let’s go back." (End of Chapter. If you like this work, please support me on qidian.com with your votes and monthly tickets. Your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users can read on m.qidian.com.)
