Chapter 617: Chapter 83: Goblin’s Arrogance_1

"The most powerful beings of that era, most of them had powers similar to yours, oh, of course, I mean when you were at your peak," Sigein pointed at Pannis and said, "So the consequences of war were quite severe, many Triclops died, one by one, Divine Kingdoms shattered and collapsed, the most powerful and deities fell one after another, with elegies resounding every year."

"Those vicious deities deceived us, they bewitched the most powerful among us, enticing us with benefits and power, making us wage wars like the deities. However, we were taken advantage of. We were merely weapons for them to attack other deities and plunder power. After they achieved their purpose, we Triclops who served as weapons were naturally discarded."

"When the war entered a stalemate phase, they did not fulfill their promises, did not help us at the crucial moment. Instead, they suddenly appeared in the gods’ camp and ruthlessly stabbed us from behind. My husband, who was the leader of the most powerful fighters in the war, was killed due to their sudden betrayal. Many powerful combatants also died from the confusion brought on by the betrayal. So, the balance of the stalemate tilted, our clan’s defeat was inevitable. Initially, if we were able to admit defeat in time, the subsequent tragedy wouldn’t have happened. But most were so consumed by anger that they launched a final counterattack against the gods’ forces, even being willing to die rather than back down."

"You can imagine the aftermath when thousands of beings with similar powers to yours, and hundreds of more powerful deities collide. Consequently, the earth shattered, mountains split apart, the eternally living Triclops, almost no one could escape the cataclysm. By the time the few surviving powerful beings came to their senses, it was too late. The once beautiful and fertile land had become desolate."

"After coming to our senses, we chose to flee, abandoning the glory of the most powerful beings, all just to preserve the last hope." Sigein continued to smile, but the third eye on his forehead once again emitted a cold light: "After we fled, the deities retreated. They quickly left the mortal world and returned to their Godly Kingdoms. However, those deceitful traitors initiated a manhunt, determined to kill all of us. We weren’t easy to find though, to hide ourselves, we fled into the void. The void is vast, as long as we didn’t use power outside the safe limit, they could never find us. And even if they did, setting out to kill several most powerful beings like us would incur a significant cost. For example, Erica, the bitch, died under my counterattack."

"But what does this have to do with the goblins?" Catherine asked, "The goblins did not exist when you fled, why would you say that the extinction of the goblins was partly your doing?"

"Of course, it’s related. After wandering in the void for hundreds of thousands of years, I quietly returned to the Yarran World." Sigein said, "I found that most of my clansmen had already disappeared, the land was occupied by new intelligent creatures and fewer than a hundred surviving members of my clan were living together with the newly emerged Goblins. The entire Triclops population was on the brink of extinction. As one of the most powerful, I couldn’t just watch it happen. So, I decided to revive the Triclops, I decided to have my revenge."

"So she disguised herself as an ordinary Triclops and infiltrated the Goblins’ world." Ava picked up the thread, "During the Goblin Empire era, the Triclops, due to individual strength and vast knowledge in Energy Study, always played the role of sage and aide. Most Crystal Energy technologies related to energy study were developed with the help of the Triclops scholars. Because she possessed knowledge far beyond most Triclops, she quickly gained an important position in the research field. Her proficiency in the field of biology, which was exactly what the Goblins needed and lacked, came in handy."

"Hence, a few hundred years after her arrival, upon her suggestion, this research center was built, producing numerous outstanding achievements in biological studies. It garnered more and more attention over time, and resources started to be steered increasingly in its direction." There was an indescribable emotion in Ava’s calm voice: "As the goblins’ trust in her deepened over time, she cleverly influenced many scholars, subtly instigating them to raise a research proposal for the replication of life from thin air. She proposed that the Triclops possessed eternal life and tremendous power because they inherently carried divinity. To desire an eternal life like the Triclops, one needed to create a Triclops body and transfer the soul into this new body. The academic community at the time was on the verge of insanity, accepting this horrific notion. They spent hundreds of years and, using a drop of her blood, successfully produced a life-form identical to her."

"However, the newly born life-form was void of Divine Wisdom. They lacked a soul of their own and their consciousness was entirely blank. Despite, researchers passionately continued, seizing this opportunity to concentrate substantial human and financial resources on the study of soul transference technology, intending to transfer their own souls into similar bodies with eternal longevity. Without a doubt, every challenge ended in failure. It was a mystery whether the soul transference method she provided was flawed or the constitution of the goblin was unable to bear the force of soul transference. Not a single goblin’s soul could enter this body since their souls would disintegrate during the process, regardless of how robust the goblin’s soul was."

"Thereafter, instead of senselessly sacrificing clan members’ lives, goblins began researching new avenues. Then, a researcher suggested a hypothesis; to artificially create a soul first, and through this process, unravel the mysteries of the soul. This idea was rapidly endorsed by everyone; it was insane, yet goblins were brimming with such arrogance at the time, they believed they were omnipotent, even though they were fully aware that the creation of the soul was a prerogative of God. I always suspected that she had influenced the proposal of this hypothesis from behind the scenes."

"Indeed, it was me. Even we, the Triclops, dared not indulge in the act of creating souls back in the day. However, goblins being evolutionary creatures, lack the slightest fear or respect for the Deity. Choosing goblins was indeed the right move, their help has been invaluable to me. Just as they followed my designs step by step, after failing many attempts, they eventually developed artificial intelligence derived from Puppet Control Study research, or as one might put it, artificial souls. I then transferred these artificial souls into an empty body via a few tricks, which resulted in the birth of a new clan member. Although this clan member’s soul was a counterfeit, it didn’t matter. Hope was in sight. If I could create enough clan members this way, and let them interbreed and procreate, soon enough, within a hundred thousand years at maximum, the natural-born clan members would number in the thousands or even tens of thousands. These will be the real clan members, from body to soul. Everything will eventually return to its original track with the clan members multiplying here. Whenever the time is right, I will take them back to the Yarran World and fix the mistakes we made in the past. Actually, I feel a tremendous gratitude towards the goblins for their assistance, their help has allowed me to come this far."

"So, is this how you repay the goblins for their assistance with annihilation?" Ava retorted: "You never mentioned that the combination of artificial souls and bodies would provoke such a strong reaction from the gods."

"My dear child, after acquiring a new life not long ago and being trapped here, there are so many things you don’t understand." Sigein looked at Ava on Pannis’ shoulder with pity, a maternal glow flashing in her third eye: "As for your comments, do you believe the goblins are clueless? In hundred years, why do you think they have excavated hundreds of underground bunkers? Do you think they had too much manpower on their hands to expend? As for the gods’ reactions, the goblins are well-informed. When things were beyond salvageable, the gods were also alerted and some gentle Deities even sent their servants down to earth to advise the goblins against their actions. They told them that if the goblins truly succeeded, even though they won’t do anything, certain violent gods might implement serious countermeasures. By then, they won’t be able to intervene. As I predicted, the goblins were extremely arrogant then, their blinded by their pursuit of eternal life caused them to ignore the gods’ advice and only drove them further down this road."

"However, the goblins didn’t completely ignore the gods’ warning either. They prepared for war on all fronts. While demonstrating an aggressive stand, they dug out numerous underground bunkers. Their plan was to first fuse their souls with artificial intelligence and using the artificial intelligence as a mediator, they would then use my previous method to transfer the souls to the clone. As long as they succeeded, a lot of goblins would gain eternal life. They believed that even if divine punishment befalls them, survivors from within these underground bunkers could still endure the catastrophe. By then, these immortal survivors have the potential to revive the era of goblins."

"In their naivety, they believed that the said divine punishment was just a variety of horrifying disasters." Sigein sighed shaking her head, "Such a pity, they have no clue what divine punishment is, they have committed the greatest mistake." (To be continued.
