Chapter 605: Chapter 72 Cyrie0015_1
"Who are you?" The unexpected answer silenced Pannis for a long time before he tilted his head to look at the source of the voice above the gate, tentatively asking, "Why are you here?"
"I am Cyrie, Cyrie-0015, the Central Controller of the Goblin United Government Biology Research Center." The metallic female voice expressed no emotional fluctuation, calmly saying, "My duty is to maintain the daily operation and security defense of the Research Center, and to assist the highest authority in managing its researchers, so that’s why I am here."
"Ah, the Central Controller." Freya crossed her arms, pondering as she spoke, "Since you can communicate with us, can we assume you have developed your own thinking ability?"
"All is based on basic logical judgment." Cyrie responded, "The theoretically and practically autonomous Central Controller does not exist. Dr. Samori’s experiments have already proven this."
"Why do you speak the common language?" Pannis raised a crucial question, "Could it be that during these more than four million days, you’ve been paying attention to the outside world?"
"Cannot comprehend the term common language." Cyrie replied, "External crystalline network is unresponsive, I am unable to retrieve any information from the crystalline network. Please, highest authority, promptly apply a re-registration protocol so I can reconnect to the crystalline network."
"The common language is what we are speaking now." Pannis frowned, saying: "Haven’t you noticed that the language you and I are using is different?"
"Term entry updated, term, common language." Cyrie’s voice remained calm, but strangely, she began speaking in the common language: "The Triclops language is one of the pre-installed languages, all Cyrie series are equipped with it."
"Triclops?" After some thought, Pannis understood what Cyrie meant, "Do you mean Deities? Oh, I forgot you don’t know what Deities are. They are a race looking quite similar to us, slightly taller on average, slender, and have The Third Eye on their forehead. They were active during the First Epoch."
"Comparison completed, similarity eighty-three point four percent, it can be basically confirmed that both are the same race. Term entry updated, term, Deity." After recording, Cyrie repeated her previous answer, "The Deity language is one of the pre-installed languages, all Cyrie series are equipped with it."
"So you are saying that the common language is the Deities’ language?" Catherine looked up and asked, "That’s impossible. Even our era has never seen any Deities. How could their language end up being ours?"
"Sis, it’s entirely possible." Vivian softly tugged at Catherine’s clothes from behind, whispering, "The origin of the common language is already lost, but there have been speculations that the common language is a gift from the Deities of the Third Epoch. Put simply, it’s postulated that the origin of the common language is the language used by the Deities to communicate with mortal life."
"That’s not right ... oh, I understand now." Catherine had a sudden realization: "The First Epoch was an era when Deities and Deities lived together in the world. They had already become accustomed to using the common language to communicate, so when they created life in the Third Epoch, they naturally taught their creations the most familiar common language, hence we learned this special language and it gradually spread. Interesting, so the original form of the common language is the Deities’ language. I’ve never thought about it from that perspective."
"Yeah, me neither." Pannis nodded, "When I saw that Deity on the Floating Ship, I thought he had recently learned the common language. I never realized they were originally using this language. Cyrie, from now on when communicating with us, please use the common language as much as possible. Can you do that?"
"Command received." Cyrie mechanically replied, "Future communication will prioritize common language."
"Thank you." Pannis nodded with a smile, "You mentioned earlier that one of your duties is to help us manage this Research Center, which means we can control here as we wish, right?"
"Misinterpretation." Cyrie answered, "My duty is to assist the highest authority in managing the researchers within the Center, not to manage the Center itself. The highest authority can reassign personnel, can reallocate facility usage rights but has no power to adjust the Center and absolutely no power to interfere with the normal operation of the Center’s auto-system."
"Be more specific." Pannis held his forehead with a hand, sighing, "What exact authority do we have?"
"Outside of the two authorities I have already explained, the highest authority can visit any experimental institution, freely use and inspect any equipment, rearrange the specific placement of the equipment." Cyrie paused, before adding, "Lastly, without violating safety protocols, the highest authority can expect full cooperation from the Center Controller."
"Alright, I understand." Pannis nodded, "Thank you, Cyrie."
"Your will." Cyrie stated, "Then, where do you plan to go first upon returning?"
"The Information Control Room, we need to access some documents." Before Pannis could say anything, Freya interjected and then turned to Pannis to clarify, "The Information Control Room is the information hub of a goblin relic. Most data is stored there. Since our authorization level is quite high, we should be able to retrieve a considerable amount of information from the Information Control Room. We can confidently complete the task Master trusted us with, while also verifying whether there is any possibility of treating Vivian."
"Let’s head to the Information Control Room then." Catherine signaled that she understood, "However, does anyone know where this control room is located?"
With a swish, a black four-wheeled Crystal Energy vehicle drove out from the center and parked steadily inside the main entrance. All five sides of the car door automatically opened, leaving only the front door closed. Cyrie’s voice echoed again, "Destination, Information Control Room. Please get in the car."
"Thank you." Even though Catherine knew that the other party was just a Central Controller and not a human, the human-like demeanor made it hard for her not to treat her as a real person: "So, are we supposed to use this car to go to the Information Control Room?"
"Yes, this is the exclusive vehicle for the highest authority users within the center." After Catherine sat in the car, Cyrie’s voice surprisingly came from inside the car, "The previous highest authority user preferred to drive himself, but in necessary situations, the car can also switch to an automated driving mode guided by me, albeit at a slightly slower speed. You may choose which driving mode to use."
"Auto drive mode confirmed." The Crystal Energy vehicle started soundlessly and smoothly drove on the metal surface. The interior of the vehicle was spacious, even with five people sitting together it wasn’t crowded. Inside the carriage, next to each seat was a small cabinet attached to the carriage. Clearly, these cabinets were designed to hold various snacks for passengers. The ride was incredibly smooth, the girls didn’t feel any bumps. They wouldn’t have noticed that the vehicle was moving at all, had they not looked out the window.
"Cyrie." Pannis, who was sitting in the car, suddenly addressed Cyrie who had been silent since getting in the car, "I have a question."
"Please advise." Cyrie’s voice echoed immediately, seemingly waiting for Pannis’s question.
"You can see this girl, right?" Pannis pointed at Vivian and continued, "She is having some health issues. We’re trying to see if this research center has any equipment that could help her. Could you help us locate which laboratory we should go to, to find the necessary equipment?"
After a series of continuous beeping sounds, Cyrie finally replied after a moment of silence, "I’m sorry. I am not a medical diagnostic center and cannot accurately assess the condition of the patient’s body. It is recommended that the patient seek immediate medical attention."
"Ah, I see." Pannis, feeling helpless, shook his head, "Then, do you know where in the research center we could find equipment to determine her exact symptoms? Is it the medical center? But where is the medical center?"
"There are forty-three laboratories related to medical research." Cyrie answered, "Located within seventeen different functional laboratories. It cannot be determined whether there are devices in these laboratories that can cure her. Therefore, it is recommended again that the patient seek immediate medical attention."
"I get it, I get it." Pannis, still feeling helpless, interrupted Cyrie’s explanation and turned to Catherine and Vivian, "It seems that we have no choice but to examine a large number of documents in the Information Control Room. This includes the goblins’ medical knowledge, to see if there are any records of diseases similar to Vivian’s symptoms, and then try to treat her accordingly."
"Right." Catherine nodded, speaking hopefully, "Let’s hope everything goes smoothly."
Soon, the Crystal Energy vehicle stopped in front of a building. The building looked odd, an irregular polygon with more than thirty sides to it. At the top of the building was a sharp tower nearly a hundred meters high. From the ground level of the building, a mass of tubes stretched out from the inside of the structure and extended below the surface of the building.
Similar to the other buildings, this building also had the standard goblin style, silver-white. An odd humming vibration came from the inside of this strange building. The sound wasn’t loud, but it was exceptionally clear and intermittent.
"Honored highest authority users." The car door opened again, and Cyrie’s voice came from outside the Crystal Energy vehicle, "You have arrived at the center’s Information Control Room. Please exit the car." (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to visit qidian.com to vote and support. Your support is my greatest motivation.
