Chapter 733: Chapter 534: Dimension Rift Appears (Two in One)_2

"Now that the American military has surrounded the town, unless necessary, you should not take action. Just appropriately kill any isolated monsters, and remember not to draw their attention,"

"Everyone else, go find Lin Sisi to enhance your status and replenish Dark Energy. Be on standby at all times and ready to provide support,"

He quickly assigned tasks to everyone present, the whole process already well-rehearsed.

After receiving their respective tasks, everyone left, leaving him alone in the vast Star Lord’s office.

Zhang Xiaoman rubbed his temples; the Dimension Rift this time was bigger than any they had encountered before, which worried him the most.

All along, sporadic Alien Species had not been a significant threat. What truly concerned him were the Dimension Gates that could bring about widespread invasion.

Moreover, the American military’s attention was entirely focused on the town, which made his actions all the more cautious and unnecessarily complicated.

"It seems that this situation is indeed difficult to manage... Medium and small-scale Dimension Rifts... It seems to be the first appearance on Water Blue Star...?"

...

Elsewhere, in Pratt Town located at the border between Nebraska and South Dakota, resident were being evacuated in military vehicles.

Many people did not know what was happening.

Some wanted to take some belongings with them, but officers informed them that they had to evacuate immediately, not even leaving them time to pack.

This sudden event left many people confused, not understanding what was happening.

According to those officers, there was a detection of high-intensity earthquake signals, and they needed to conduct emergency evacuations.

But the townspeople weren’t fools; few believed this explanation.

Due to its geographical location, Pratt Town had nearly never experienced earthquakes, let alone a massive, high-intensity earthquake.

Of course, there were still some young people in the town.

Unlike the elderly, they would follow some online news and were highly curious about the recently popular "doomsday topic."

Fana Peran was one such person who took a keen interest in these topics.

Fana had lived in Pratt Town since she was young. She completed her early education in this place with extremely scarce educational resources and later went to a high school in the nearest city, Orte City.

Unfortunately, she was recently unlucky enough to be hit by a drunken driver while crossing the street.

Her thigh had suffered fractures and dislocations, forcing her to temporarily stop school and return home to recover.

Unable to move freely due to her injury, Fana spent days sitting at home, surfing the internet through an almost non-functional wireless network to pass the time.

She had only recently come across topics about the supposed doomsday.

For her, it was a case of "it’s boring anyway, so I might as well read it," and she stayed updated on such posts.

After a while, however, she realized that while a small portion of posts had some credibility, the vast majority were just nonsensical ramblings.

They could twist any event into something bizarre and surreal, then publish it to fuel the "doomsday is near" atmosphere, which was essentially an insult to one’s intelligence.

Because of this, Fana even started distrusting many posts that wouldn’t normally raise suspicions.

However, just as she was beginning to lose patience, a strange incident seemed to have happened right above her head a few days earlier.

Out of nowhere, a strange shadow appeared over the town.

This shadow was unusual; it was darker in color and formed a solid mass, surrounded by countless small, lightning-like traces darting wildly around, making for an eerie sight.

Some elders in the town claimed it was certainly a cloud, but Fana was disdainful of that explanation.

Clouds?

Has anyone seen a cloud with such a deep color before?

Moreover, it has been three days now, and its position hasn’t changed at all—where in the world does such a strange cloud exist?

It was not until today that Fana finally found an old, dusty telescope in the storage room, and through its lens, she discovered something utterly shocking.

"Dad, Mom, listen to me, there are really monsters hiding inside that cloud! I swear I just saw them!"

Fana said to her parents, who were busy packing their bags.

"Stop packing, let’s take these people’s vehicles and leave this place. They must have observed this too, that’s why they’re organizing our evacuation... We must leave earlier, if we’re late, once those monsters come down, we will..."

"Little Fana, have you been reading those nonsensical doomsday theories again? Where in the sky would there be monsters? Those guys must have detected an oil field nearby or something. Didn’t a stranger just arrive in our town a few days ago? He must be from the survey company."

Her mother continued packing the bags on the side, not even looking up as she spoke.

Fana’s father comforted his daughter:

"Fana, don’t worry. Anyway, after they evacuate that batch of people, they’ll come back for us, and then we’ll just go with them. It will only be a half hour of waiting at most."

Fana’s father was wise not to dwell on the existence of monsters.

Instead, he told her they were not leaving yet; they just needed to pack their bags and would leave later.

A hint of bitterness appeared on Fana’s face.

Although anxious, she could not do much as her parents refused to leave.

Fortunately, the town’s population was not large. After the military escorted the previous batch of villagers, they would quickly come back to take her and others.

She wanted to help her parents pack, but her curiosity to use the telescope and observe the sky made her clumsy, and she ended up breaking quite a few things.

Seeing this, her mother immediately waved her hand, signaling Fana to step aside rather than creating more trouble.

Fana went back to her small room on the rooftop and opened the telescope to observe the situation in that dark patch above.

Unfortunately, she failed to find anything again. It seemed the monsters were hiding, not visible every time.

Earlier, to convince her parents, she had forcibly placed the telescope in her father’s hands, and because of that, her father saw nothing, dismissing her advice as meaningless.

Fana observed reluctantly for a while longer, but still found nothing.

However, the shadow seemed to have grown a bit darker, as if a hint of purple light was appearing within it.

"Hmm? Purple?"

Fana paused, slightly startled.

The next second, as she observed the sky through the telescope, her expression drastically changed.

She saw the shadow violently tremble, and the lightning-like streaks in the air began to wildly dart around.

Then, a purple light emerged from the center of the shadow, opening like a fissure that expanded and spread, eventually covering the entire area of the shadow.

Suddenly, what had appeared to be a cloud in the sky became a patch radiating an enigmatic purple glow, as if someone had carelessly splashed paint on a canvas.

"What, what is this..."

Fana was completely astonished.

Despite some mental preparation, the sight of this bizarre phenomenon happening right before her eyes still made her open her mouth wide, almost unable to believe what she was seeing.
