World-saving Plan: The Only Savior -
Chapter 721 - 528
Chapter 721: 528
"Eh? Dean, what are you doing here?"
A woman passed by, saw them, and greeted them with delight.
"And Xiao Qi, when did you guys come over... oh, could it be that you used that teleportation ability? That’s really so convenient!"
The speaker was Dean’s girlfriend Tina, currently the head of the biology research department within the Star Alliance.
Dean went over and kissed her, which made Ji Xiaoqi watching nearby feel a bit queasy.
"We were just on a mission. Ji Xiaoqi told me to use teleportation when leaving, not to walk out, or to use the Starry Stone, as that would seem more stylish."
Dean explained the recent situation a bit to his girlfriend, then asked:
"Tina, what about you? Don’t you have work today? How come you’re on the Dawn? By the way, where are we now?"
Tina pushed Dean away, feeling a bit embarrassed to display affection in front of Ji Xiaoqi, a living person there.
"You guys got here and still don’t know where we are, really..."
She rolled her eyes at her boyfriend, then walked over to a wall, stretched out her hand, and pressed a few buttons. Suddenly, the surrounding scenery changed dramatically.
The previously bright lights suddenly darkened, and everything around turned black.
Immediately after, endless starlight began to appear around them, and not far away, a huge sphere emitting a white halo appeared before their eyes.
"Is this... the Moon?"
Overwhelmed by the beautiful scene, Ji Xiaoqi muttered the name to herself.
Tina’s eyes shone with excitement.
"That’s right, we are now on the far side of the Moon. The Star Lord has us participate in this Moon Base research mission. We’ll be landing in thirty minutes."
As she spoke, she flashed a stack of documents in her hand and continued:
"I’ve just finished sorting out some data on the Moon Tree. After we land, I’ll have to test it personally. How about it, are you guys interested in joining us? The Star Lord said that the Moon’s shield is perfected, and the ecological environment within the shield is virtually identical to that on our Water Blue Star. This is truly incredible!"
Hearing her say this, Ji Xiaoqi and Dean also remembered that their boss indeed had mentioned this a few days ago.
However, they had forgotten about it due to the mission, and now that they’d run into it, it was natural for them to want to check it out.
The three of them chatted casually while waiting for a while until others also arrived one after another.
Ji Xiaoqi looked around and noticed that the people who had come were all big shots from the organization’s research departments, such as Zhao Liang from the aviation department, Richard and Pascal from the astronomy research department, Sun Mingsheng from the scientific research department, and so on.
"It seems like this lunar mission is quite large in scale. It looks like everyone from our organization’s research department is here."
Ji Xiaoqi looked at the crowd around her somewhat emotionally, occasionally greeting a few acquaintances.
The hall was crowded; all told, there were probably about fifty people.
These were all researchers recruited by the Star Alliance in recent times, each one an elite in their field.
These people were the very foundation of the Star Alliance. With these researchers, the construction and development of the organization would become even swifter.
Ji Xiaoqi and Dean were Awakeners, belonging to the Three Great Sanctuaries. They had now shed their brown robes from the outside, revealing their fearless attire.
The researchers, seeing that two Awakeners had also joined them, came over to greet them and even performed a Star Touching Ceremony as they did so.
Although it wasn’t explicitly required, everyone had great respect for members of the Three Great Sanctuaries. To them, being able to wear fearless clothes was an honor in itself.
As they talked, the time set for the plan arrived, and the spacecraft slowly moved towards the Moon under the expectant gazes of everyone.
As they got closer, the Moon, which had radiated beautiful light, gradually revealed its true face.
From this position, one could see clearly the chaotic meteorite craters on its surface.
"Eh? What is that?"
Someone suddenly pointed at the front of the holographic image and shouted.
Everyone else also noticed the situation there.
"The World Tree! It’s the World Tree! We have a World Tree on the moon too!"
A researcher recognized the object in front of them.
They saw on the surface of the Moon, a nearly hundred-meter-tall lush green tree stood tall, its branches and leaves thriving, starkly out of place in the barren surroundings.
"That’s an offshoot of the World Tree. Our base’s mother tree is located on the island in the middle of Seven-star Lake. I’ve always wanted to see it up close, but I’ve never found the opportunity. I didn’t expect to come into contact with the one on the Moon first."
Sun Mingsheng expressed his sentiment.
As the head of the scientific research department, he was mostly in charge of research work at the Water Blue Star Company outside the main base, so he rarely had the chance to return to the main base and had never had a good opportunity to see the legendary World Tree up close.
Although the others had seen it more or less, they all hoped to come into closer contact with something so legendary, and they were excited now that they had the chance.
In this manner, the Dawn carried the people as it slowly approached the Moon, and then passed through the shield into the base.
But just then, a small accident occurred.
They saw many small black dots suddenly spewing out of the horizon not far away. Their speed was extremely fast, and it didn’t take long for them to get close to the crowd.
"Is this? The Desert Worm Clan!?"
Ji Xiaoqi immediately recognized the monsters before her.
To be a qualified member of the Holy Temple, one must possess not only tremendous combat strength but also have an intimate understanding of the Alien Species.
Reminded by her, the others realized the identities of those creatures, and their hearts instantly tightened.
There were too many insects, at least a hundred, flying over in a majestic swarm, covering a small patch of sky.
By this time, the Dawn had already entered the shield. The insects tried to swoop in but were all repelled, with some unlucky ones falling straight down to their deaths.
"Isn’t this the Moon? There’s no air, why can they fly? And with such low gravity here, can they really be smashed to death?"
An older researcher stared with wide eyes and voiced his doubt.
Tina adjusted her glasses and explained:
"I’ve studied the bodies of these Desert Worms, and their ability to fly does not solely rely on air, but on that Dark Energy. Moreover, I’ve discovered that their bodies seem to secrete a special substance, allowing them to adjust and adapt to a variety of space environments."
By her side, Ji Xiaoqi also nodded and added:
"That’s right, I’ve also read about this information in the Alien Species data. Their adaptability allows them to move freely in space, but it also has a distinct downside. It makes them too average; they have no disadvantages, but they also have no clear advantages."
After hearing their explanation, everyone gained a new understanding of these insects.
"So, their current attack on the shield, it’s nothing serious... right?"
Ji Xiaoqi smiled.
"Don’t underestimate this shield. With just this number of insects, even if they attacked for a lifetime, they wouldn’t be able to get inside. And..."
She paused at this point, stretched out her hand, and pointed toward the ground, reminding everyone:
"Look there, these creatures are about to be in big trouble..."
Looking in the direction she indicated, they saw green vines already writhing on the ground, and in the span of a few breaths, the green had grown exponentially.
The next moment, as countless shadows streaked by, the vines, like the maw of a primordial beast, opened wide and struck at the Desert Worms in the sky with overwhelming momentum.
PS: Regarding the price of the potion, I wrote 10 billion in the previous Chapter, but later realized it was in British pounds. Thinking it over, this seemed a bit too exaggerated, so here it has been changed back to 2 billion. I ask for the dear readers’ forgiveness.
