World-saving Plan: The Only Savior -
Chapter 709 - 522
Chapter 709: 522
The rat horde surged in like a tide, engulfing them.
Several warriors also saw that among these rats, there were dozens of mutant snakes about four to five meters long also slithering in, and they almost instantly lost their ability to resist.
"What, what do we do now..."
Someone asked in a soft voice.
They were already surrounded by those fierce black mutant rats at this moment, with no bullets left in their firearms, not daring to make the slightest move.
What puzzled everyone was that these rats didn’t rush to attack them immediately.
Just as they were confused, a figure suddenly walked into the laboratory through the main door. The nearby rats, like soldiers submitting to their king, parted to make way for him.
The few people in the room unconsciously focused their gaze on him.
The figure appeared to be about one meter ninety, wearing a black robe. His fingertips flickered with a red glow, which must have been the force that had broken through the door just moments before.
"Hmm, not bad, there are still some fish that slipped through the net. However, this will allow me to test the effects immediately..."
The man in the black robe murmured an incomprehensible string of words to himself and then headed towards the high-energy biological molecular shaker in the center laboratory.
"Go to hell, you monster!"
A team member suddenly pulled out a handgun from his waist and "bang bang bang" pulled the trigger at him.
All 20 bullets from the PA15 9mm handgun poured out and hit the man in the black robe at such close range.
However, the man in the black robe seemed to be completely unharmed.
Not even his clothes fluttered, and those 20 bullets failed to hurt him at all.
All could see that a series of ripples seemed to emanate around the man’s body, and the bullets were stopped by an invisible force, dropping to the ground in front of him.
The man in the black robe looked down at the bullet casings at his feet and then back at the person who had just fired the gun. The cold light in his deep blue eyes caused shudders.
"Heh, such a foolish race. We don’t need so many test subjects anyway; since you’re so eager to die, I might as well oblige."
After he finished speaking, the nearby horde of rats, as if receiving some kind of command, rushed towards the man who had fired the gun and his few companions, swallowing them up in an instant.
"Ah!!"
The screams ceased abruptly after a brief moment, leaving the three surviving soldiers feeling as though their bodies had been filled with lead, so heavy they couldn’t move at all.
"Hmm, it’s much quieter now."
The man in the black robe continued walking forward, directly to the machine.
The remaining three people in the room didn’t dare to make the slightest move.
Although they didn’t understand why the other party didn’t just kill them, if they could survive, who would choose death?
Furthermore, the fellow in front of them was simply not human, impervious to bullets; how could they possibly fight?
Now surrounded by the horde of rats, they could only helplessly watch as the man approached the experimental machine worth billions, unable to offer any resistance.
The man in the black robe approached the machine, stretching out his hand and lightly touching the steel structure protective layer on its perimeter.
A red glow emitted from his palm, and where he touched, the structure dissolved as if soaked in ink, melting away the outer protective layer at once.
The man walked up to the machine, took an interested look at the device in front of him, and then took out a bottle of yellow medicine from within his robe and inserted it into a slot.
"Such primitive equipment... let’s see how this works..."
He entered some commands into the control panel, but his face beneath the black robe seemed a bit displeased.
"Primitive machine, primitive operation mode, I’m really tired of all this..."
His words came out strange, none of the few present could understand, or even figure out which country’s language he was speaking.
The man controlling the machinery never stopped, and it wasn’t long before the shaker began to operate.
The sharp-eyed Matiu even spotted a percentage progress bar appearing on it.
The black-robed man released his hands and stepped back a few paces, looking at the machine in front of him with satisfaction, "Hehe, all of this is about to end. Let me be the one to save this backward civilization. Soon, I will make this place my new home..."
Although he couldn’t understand what the other was muttering continuously, the sight of the suddenly-appeared progress bar gave Matiu an inexplicable jolt in his heart, a foreboding feeling emerging.
"No, I can’t let him complete that, or it will be very dangerous..."
It wasn’t just Matiu; the same thought appeared in the minds of the other two.
They still held handguns in their hands and even Matiu had a high-explosive hand grenade hanging at his waist.
But from the recent events, it was clear that the opponent didn’t take such attacks seriously. Matiu doubted that even a grenade would harm him in the slightest.
Just then, a series of squeals from mutant rats came from outside the laboratory door, and a figure in a green combat suit burst in, brandishing a long spear.
The figure was nimble, moving agilely around the racks surrounding him. Despite the rats’ numbers, they couldn’t touch him.
Seeing the man with the massive long spear charging in, Matiu and the others couldn’t help but feel a sudden surge of hope.
Although they didn’t know who he was, his strength and speed, which were beyond that of a normal person, indicated that he, like the black-robed man, must be a Transcendent.
If they themselves couldn’t deal with the black-robed man, then surely this Transcendent had no issue, right?
After all, he didn’t look like an ordinary person.
Beside him, the black-robed man’s gaze was also drawn to the newcomer as he turned to look at him.
The newcomer was Jannan.
Upon learning Makula’s plan, he had rushed to the top-floor laboratory, also making sure to send a distress signal to the Star Lord through his wristwatch.
Just that, because of his efforts sniping those Transformers, the Dark Energy in his body was almost completely depleted, and he could now only rely on the Reverse Flow Technique for combat.
Jannan’s Awakening had limited time and not much Dark Energy capacity left, let alone activate the Reverse Water Spell.
That Skill was currently wieldable by only two people in the entire Star Alliance: one being its developer, Lord Bear, and the other, naturally, Zhang Xiaoman, the Star Lord.
Though the Reverse Water Spell seemed like a buff, it was actually a temporary boost to explosive power through a special flow of Dark Energy, and it couldn’t be used with a Spirit Binding Scroll either.
Jannan could only rely on his own Extraordinary Physique and enhanced blessings, using sheer strength and skill to eliminate the rats.
While efficient in taking down targets, this method was much slower than the Fireball Technique and against such numbers, it was merely a drop in the ocean.
Upon entering, Jannan immediately saw the huge machinery behind the black-robed man, and the conspicuous progress bar on it.
"50%!"
He was startled, not expecting the other party to be so fast.
"Damn it! I can’t let him succeed!"
The thought of what would happen should his opponent succeed filled Jannan with urgency.
Seeing the swarm of rats and several giant snakes heading straight for him, knowing he couldn’t charge through quickly, he lifted his long spear and threw it towards the black-robed man’s chest.
Makula watched the silver spear fly towards him with a disdainful smile on his face.
This barbarian in front of him probably didn’t know what the Qin En Resonance Position was, did he?
If even their primitive projectile weapons couldn’t penetrate his defenses, how could that ridiculous spear possibly be effective?
Truly, a foolish human.
