World-saving Plan: The Only Savior
Chapter 531 - 412 Azure Dragon Army Base

Chapter 531: Chapter 412 Azure Dragon Army Base

On the ground, a few Star Guards, in response to Xu Fei’s somewhat panicked expression, hoisted him up and then tossed him onto the back of a warhorse.

Then, they mounted their horses and headed towards the Caster’s location, following Zhang Xiaoman’s orders.

Xu Fei sat sideways in front of a Star Guard, perched on one of the warhorses.

He faintly guessed what the others were planning and, while he felt a surge of joy, he was also somewhat embarrassed.

After all, his current pose was a little too seductive. If his comrades-in-arms saw him like this, it might become a hot topic of conversation for a long time to come.

He tried to ask the big brother behind him to change his sitting position, but after speaking several times, there was no response, which left him no choice but to give up helplessly.

Well, seductive is better than losing one’s life.

At Zhang Xiaoman’s command, the Star Guards considerately slowed down their speed.

One of them took Xu Fei and proceeded, while the other two remained on alert around them. With their vision within the Mist, they should be able to detect danger in advance.

However, as they were already not far from the base, they did not encounter any surprises and soon arrived at the Azure Dragon Army’s base.

Because the Mist kept expanding, the base had to keep moving backwards, thus creating layers of encircling structures.

After passing through two unmanned walls, they finally came out of the Mist and reached the interior of the real base.

Outside the main gate, the expressions on the faces of the two standing guards were very tense.

When they first heard the sound of the horse hooves, their initial reaction was to associate it with the monsters escaping from the Mist.

At the same time, the communicator also sounded a warning.

However, they had also received orders to hold fire, as there seemed to be their own people out there.

"Da da da..."

The sound of the horse hooves was getting closer, and by then, the base’s defenses had been fully mobilized.

The visible ones, the hidden ones, and the numerous large and small turrets, at least over twenty gun barrels, were aimed in this direction.

"Who are you...?"

The Star Guards had by now reached the gate, where, in addition to the original two duty warriors, several dozen others had arrived for support.

Everyone was looking at the newcomers with vigilant eyes, their firearms ready, poised for action.

The Star Guards, already tall and now mounted on horses, exerted significant pressure on everyone present, despite there being only three of them.

What was most concerning was their appearance, armored and mounted—surely not that of ordinary people.

What normal person dresses like this?

And what normal person’s eyes glow?

Such incomprehensible abilities seemed to only belong to Alien Species.

Their grip on their firearms tightened, and had it not been for the comrade apparently sitting on one of the horses, they felt they might have been unable to resist pulling the trigger.

"Cough cough... Everyone, don’t get agitated, it’s me."

Xu Fei spoke up, and despite feeling a bit embarrassed in his current position, he felt the need to interject before a misunderstanding arose between the two sides, which would be a grave mistake.

"Hello, may I ask who you are...?"

At the door, a warrior in his thirties took two steps forward, asking for his identity.

"I’m Xu Fei from the Dragon Teeth Team, third squad, badge number l-y-3-5. Here’s my proof."

Xu Fei first identified his team affiliation and then took a badge from the inside of his jacket and reached out to hand it over.

Upon hearing his badge number, the man visibly relaxed, seemingly believing the majority of Xu Fei’s words, but still, the necessary verification steps had to be taken.

He carefully stepped forward, took the badge to inspect it, handed it back, and snapped to attention with a salute.

"Commander, may I ask if there’s anything I can assist you with?"

Xu Fei returned the salute and said, "I’d like to bring these people inside. Could you please check with Commander Liu and Minister Hu for me?"

The man took the orders and stepped aside to communicate using his communicator. After a short while, he turned back and let the group pass.

At this moment, Zhang Xiaoman was also somewhat conflicted about whether or not to let the Star Guard accompany him inside.

His original intent was merely to deliver the injured party and be done with it, but now it seemed as though the other party planned to invite him inside for a visit.

He frowned, pondered for a moment, and then made up his mind to follow and see for himself.

After all, according to his plans, in the upcoming period, he was to focus on this Space Node, and so, inevitably, he would have some interactions with the others there.

Moreover, some matters needed to be addressed sooner or later, and now that the opportunity had presented itself, it was better to attempt making contact sooner.

The timing now was more mature than his last visit.

This maturity, aside from the Star Alliance’s strength, had another very critical criterion.

That was the progress of the Alien Species invasion.

This might seem somewhat perplexing, but it’s actually quite understandable.

It’s not that Zhang Xiaoman enjoyed assuming the worst in others, he simply had to prepare for all possibilities now.

Hence, for safety reasons, aside from bolstering its own strength, the Star Alliance had to wait as long as possible before increasing contact with the outside, especially until the scale of the Alien invasion grew.

This way, only when others fully realized the severity of the situation would it greatly minimize the possibility of infighting among humans.

To put it bluntly, the moment he was waiting for was when even if others discovered all of Star Alliance’s secrets, they would not have the spare capacity to deal with him.

This wasn’t selfishness, it was self-preservation.

After all, this was the real world, not a game he was playing, with no opportunities for a do-over. One false step could lead to irrevocable doom.

Therefore, how the government viewed his organization was something Zhang Xiaoman actually cared deeply about.

He had also thought of using Star Order to dig up some information, but unfortunately, there were no fruits to his labor.

He suspected that the other party might not have used electronic storage but had instead relied on the most primitive and secure method of paper records.

The Electronic Warfare Special Service Ship might be formidable, but it was helpless against such written documentation.

However, Zhang Xiaoman didn’t dwell on this matter too much. This kind of scenario was already anticipated, and if it couldn’t be probed, then so be it.

Step by step interaction, slowly gaining trust and sticking to the original plan without making waves—that itself was good enough.
