Chapter 480: Chapter 361: Landing on the Moon

Zhang Xiaoman was able to reach space so quickly for another reason: the Dawn didn’t slowly accelerate but began its flight at high speed instead.

As for whether acceleration would cause injury, that’s thanks to the spaceship’s "inertia dampener."

Based on Star Order’s introduction, this device, once activated, can generate an artificial gravitational field inside the spaceship, isolating it from the acceleration outside, thereby preventing injuries to those onboard—a feat that anti-gravity cars cannot achieve.

Now, Zhang Xiaoman glanced at the screen displaying the azure planet and couldn’t help but turn his attention to the Moon on the other side.

After his last visit here, he had learned that he could take an anti-gravity car to the Moon. However, because the car’s speed was so slow, requiring a 20-hour wait, he didn’t go immediately and later forgot about it amidst a series of delays.

But now, Zhang Xiaoman felt that, with his new Dawn, it should be worth a try: traveling at maximum speed, it would take only about two hours to arrive.

After setting the course, he activated the automatic navigation mode and then turned to visit his room in the dormitory area of the spaceship.

The dormitory area comprised four floors, with a total of 120 rooms, and his ship captain’s quarters were located on the first floor, as the first room.

When Zhang Xiaoman opened the door, a space of roughly 60 square meters greeted him, complete with a private bathroom.

The room was tidy, with clean, white walls exuding a sci-fi vibe, a large bed placed in a corner, and beside it a retractable screen that could be closed to form a private small space during sleep.

The furniture here was also very complete, with a wardrobe, shoe cabinet, bookshelf, and more.

He even spotted a small kitchen, with a coffee machine that hadn’t been overlooked; the green dot on it indicated all materials were ready, waiting to brew a steaming cup of coffee at any moment.

"A ship captain really is a ship captain, the treatment is truly unbeatable," he remarked.

Looking at his surroundings, Zhang Xiaoman found the environment clean and bright, not at all the cramped and congested space he had imagined.

When one was in it, it didn’t feel like a space journey at all; it was as comfortable and relaxing as being at home.

After resting on the bed for a while, he unexpectedly fell asleep, and upon waking, the pleasant voice of Star Order was heard.

"Commander, you have arrived at your destination. This voyage took a total of 139 minutes and 48 seconds, and a planetary coordinate has been discovered. Would you like it to be recorded?"

Zhang Xiaoman stretched and sat up from the bed, asking, "Planetary coordinates... Is it the Moon?"

"This planetary body is not yet recorded in the system. Would you like to name it the Moon?"

"Hmm... All right, it seems your system is also a blank slate. Well, if that’s the case, let’s call it the Moon," he agreed.

"Naming successful, coordinate saved. When returning or setting out again, you will be able to use the jump mode."

"Oh? I can jump now? Not bad, that should make things much more convenient," he said.

Zhang Xiaoman nodded in satisfaction with this answer from Star Order. Even with today’s Dawn, coming all the way from Water Blue Star would take a couple of hours.

But if he could jump, then the travel time, minus the 5 minutes to open the jump channel, would likely be less than a second.

According to Star Order’s introduction, the Dawn was a Special Service Ship, and the jump speed of this kind of ship was very fast, faster than regular warships.

A regular warship’s jump speed is 1 astronomical unit per second, while the Dawn could reach five times that speed, which is 5 astronomical units per second.

What does 5 astronomical units per second mean exactly?

An astronomical unit, also known as 1 AU, is the distance from Water Blue Star to the Sun, which is about 149,600,000 kilometers in distance.

The Dawn can jump 5 astronomical units every second, which means its speed theoretically reaches 2,500 times the speed of light.

Of course, this is not superluminal in the true sense of the term, but achieved by traversing through space.

Even so, it is enough to amaze anyone.

It can be said that only after mastering this mode of ultra-long-distance movement can one truly be deemed to have a space shuttle.

Zhang Xiaoman took the elevator from the dormitory area and returned to the command center.

There, through the holographic screen, he clearly saw the view outside. Water Blue Star came fully into view, dazzling like a beautiful sapphire, refreshing and uplifting.

"So this is what the Moon looks like, just as it appeared on TV, all pockmarked and lacking any sense of beauty..."

He then turned his gaze to the surrounding environment, curiously examining the surface of the Moon for a while, but soon grew tired of the sight.

The scenery here just wasn’t great, monotonous, with no variation.

"Should I go out for a walk?"

Suddenly, he remembered that when he boarded the shuttle, he had seen plenty of space suits; perhaps he could put on one of these suits and take a stroll outside?

The idea was tempting, and it almost got out of hand as soon as it appeared.

However, after carefully contemplating for a while, he somewhat reluctantly gave up the idea.

The reason being, space suits are like parachuting; they look simple, but for someone untrained, the actual operation can be very difficult.

Not to mention going out directly onto the Moon’s surface—if something went wrong, his life would be at serious risk.

Having abandoned the idea, Zhang Xiaoman sat back in the ship captain’s command chair with some reluctance.

According to his original plan, he could have gone for a walk to experience what it’s like to be on the Moon and even collect a couple of rocks to bring back.

After all, these were from the Moon, so they should have great research value, shouldn’t they?

He felt that if the ship didn’t lack a specialized mining function, he definitely wouldn’t be content to return empty-handed.

Simply relying on himself, mining here would be feasible only if he could create a complete, automatic mining factory capable of operating in a vacuum; otherwise, the idea of getting rich off the resources here wasn’t very realistic.

"Can it really be... I can’t just come to the Moon for once and return without doing anything, can I? That would be too disappointing."

Zhang Xiaoman looked at the views of the Moon outside and felt a surge of frustration.

Just as he was about to give up, a possibility suddenly came to mind. Maybe he wasn’t completely out of options to go outside...

PS: I’ve changed the name "Star Space" to "Star Order."
