Chapter 470 - 351: Deformed Bullet
Chapter 470: Chapter 351: Deformed Bullet
"Damn it! Why can it hurt us if we can’t attack it? That’s not fair!"
Dani clutched his wound, shouting in terror.
"Stop yelling, man! Let’s get out of here fast, have you forgotten what Feit told us last time?"
"Which thing?"
"Shit! Were you sleeping in the meeting again? Feit said if we encountered anything abnormal during a mission, not to act tough but to request immediate support from headquarters!"
"Did he... did he really say that?"
"Damn it, you must have been sleeping! I told you to take it easy at night, but you never listen! You’ll catch hell if Feit gets hold of you next time!"
While muttering constantly, Vettel helped his companion retreat along the way they had come, a short distance that now seemed incredibly long.
In fact, regarding the temporary meeting that Feit had held, he hadn’t taken it seriously himself, and neither had anyone else at the station; they had all let it in one ear and out the other, even Feit hadn’t really considered it important.
After all, such directionless, unsubstantiated instructions were hard to take seriously, especially when the content itself bordered on mystical, so everyone had dismissed it from their minds.
However, by now, Vettel had come to realize that things were completely different from what he had imagined.
The situation wasn’t as simple as it appeared, the country apparently had long known about the existence of these things, and the warnings that everyone had ignored were actually true.
At this moment, as the pair slowly moved backward, a series of sharp "buzzing" sounds erupted from the end of the corridor, and numerous green orbs burst forth, heading straight for them.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
With a few shots, Vettel emptied his pistol in an attempt to stop them.
However, it was to his despair that the bullets passed through the orbs without any hindrance and had no effect on them.
Still, to say it had absolutely no effect might be slightly inaccurate.
One orb, after being hit by two consecutive shots, immediately stopped pursuing and darted into the wall, giving the impression that, while the bullets couldn’t hurt it, it didn’t enjoy the feeling.
Although Vettel didn’t know why this was so, he felt a sliver of hope, and Dani, his eyes lighting up, took out his gun and continued firing at the remaining orbs while retreating.
"Bang!"
As the last bullet left the pistol, Dani and Vettel reached the entrance of the building.
Just then, two figures suddenly appeared from the corridor end, apparently having just come down from the stairs.
Seeing this, Dani tensed up, as his last shot had been fired in that direction.
But worrying now was too late; the bullet was fast and if it had struck, it likely had already caused accidental injury.
He stared intently in that direction for a while, and seeing that they appeared unaffected, he finally took a breath of relief. It seemed he had missed.
"Don’t come here! Go back! It’s dangerous here!"
Dani shouted a few times towards them but was quickly pulled into the police car by his companion. With a press of the accelerator, the car immediately reversed and left the area around the building.
"Vettel! Are you insane! There are two people in there! They are in danger now!"
Dani looked at his friend in disbelief.
Vettel slapped the steering wheel and said angrily,
"Do you think I want this! But what can you do if you don’t leave? Do you still have bullets? Can you handle the monsters there? You can’t help them! Staying there is useless, it would only get another person killed!"
"But..."
Dani seemed to want to say more, but Vettel waved him off.
"Enough, I’ve already requested support from the police station. Let’s get you to treat your wounds; your leg is still bleeding!"
Dani’s expression looked awful. He wrestled with himself, unable to find a retort, and finally just sighed deeply and slumped back in the seat.
Meanwhile, Zhang Xiaoman patted the area on his chest where he had just been struck by a bullet and glanced at the deformed bullet on the floor, feeling somewhat speechless.
He had just come down the stairs and turned the corner when he was hit by the bullet.
Luckily, he had developed the habit of always keeping his Magic Shield activated; otherwise, even if it hadn’t killed him, it would have totally shattered his dignity as the Master of the Stars.
He also briefly assessed the Dark Energy he lost due to the damage absorbed by the Magic Shield, quantifying it to about 20 points.
This was roughly consistent with his earlier test results, where a gunshot from a pistol amounted to about 5 points of damage.
Aaron, on the other hand, looked utterly shocked as he watched what just happened. Earlier, he didn’t understand what was going on; he just heard a gunshot nearby.
But when he heard a "ting" sound near his ear and focused on the deformed bullet, he belatedly realized what had just happened.
It turned out the bullet had inadvertently hit the mighty Star Lord, and what shocked him the most was that the bullet couldn’t harm him at all!
Being bulletproof had almost become a modern standard of judging one’s strength.
Seeing how the person in front of him casually stopped the bullet, Aaron, after his initial shock, gradually understood.
Well, this person had easily one-punched that terrifying monster. Blocking a bullet was obviously a piece of cake for him.
Having figured this out, Aaron felt that he had overreacted, so he didn’t delay any further and followed Zhang Xiaoman into the corridor.
By now, the corridor looked completely different from what he remembered.
The figures and animals in the graffiti all wore bizarre and ferocious expressions, unabashedly menacing, as if they were about to leap out at any moment.
"Oh my God!"
A sharp cry came from behind him. Beelu had followed them and couldn’t help but exclaim in horror upon seeing the scene.
As if startled by his cry, the terrifying monsters in the corridor all fixed their gaze on the three men, with some of the closer ones even sticking out their claws from the walls.
"Hmm? Are these Wandering Spirits? I didn’t expect them to have this ability. They are somewhat similar to Shadow Demons, aren’t they?"
Zhang Xiaoman looked at the situation with some surprise, his gaze lingering on the claws as he began analyzing the characteristics of these monsters.
