World-saving Plan: The Only Savior -
Chapter 438 - 320: A New Task
Chapter 438: Chapter 320: A New Task
"Lord Bear is quite reckless..."
Zhang Xiaoman muttered softly, then stood up to clean up the dishes and utensils before Teleporting back.
After arriving home, he watched TV for a while and then took out his phone to dial a number.
This was Lord Bear’s number, and according to the current time, it should be around 9 AM there.
The phone rang twice and was quickly answered, Lord Bear’s voice sounding slightly weary, as if he lacked sleep.
"Star Lord? Is that you?"
He obviously hadn’t expected Zhang Xiaoman to suddenly call him. He knew this number but it was the first time he was receiving a call from it, so he seemed a bit surprised.
Zhang Xiaoman responded and then asked about the progress of his current mission.
"Star Lord, the target I’m looking for this time is Aaron Griffin, male, twenty-seven years old, single, unemployed, lives off the interest from his parents’ savings..."
"From the clues, this person originally lived in an apartment building in New York City, but according to my investigation, he bought a ticket to Texas a few days ago, heading to a small town here. I’m already here, and if I’m lucky, I should be able to find him today."
"Hmm, well done. Report to me as soon as you find him."
"Okay, Star Lord."
Zhang Xiaoman paused, then stated the main purpose of the call:
"Lord Bear, did you venture out on this mission alone?"
"Uh, yes. Since it’s just finding someone, a few of us split up to carry out the mission separately. Yang Yang and Ji Xiaoqi went to North Bear Country, and Hu Peng and Xun You went to Ero."
Zhang Xiaoman "Hmm"ed, then said:
"Lord Bear, I understand your intentions, but I still want to say something about future field missions. From now on, at least two people must team up to go, and solo operations must be applied for in advance."
Lord Bear hadn’t expected him to suddenly say that and was stunned for a moment before responding.
"Okay, we’ll let it slide this time, but next time, we must strictly follow this plan. After all, the situation has changed. Alien Species are still rare, but their appearances are unpredictable. Since their abilities are strange, it’s riskier alone. Two people can look out for each other, and even in danger, at least they have a better chance of calling for help."
"Uh, I see. Thanks for the concern, Star Lord, I understand now."
Lord Bear agreed from the other end of the phone.
Zhang Xiaoman felt a bit helpless; he had mentioned this matter a long time ago, but it was only mentioned in passing and was not formally discussed, which is why they had forgotten about it.
"Looks like I need to draft the relevant regulations soon so that the next time we undertake missions, they’ll be carried out as per the rules, thus avoiding the kind of chaos we had today."
He mumbled to himself, then chatted casually with Lord Bear for a moment before hanging up.
Putting away his phone, Zhang Xiaoman opened his gang’s member panel, looked at the information there, and decided to spend some Star Dust to increase the population limit first.
This time, because the Shield Magnetic Field Interference Module was discounted this month, he had saved quite a bit of Star Dust. He still had seven portions of Star Dust left, which was just right for the remaining members of the Light Blue Clan.
Zhang Xiaoman decided to use up this Star Dust first to activate their official membership status, which included increasing the population limit.
This way, these guys could use the Starry Stone to Teleport directly, saving him the trouble of arranging regular pickups by the Dawn.
He used up all seven portions of Star Dust in one go, raising the gang’s population limit to 13/13, which matched the current number of Transcendents in the Star Alliance.
Of course, this included one Jin Bao dog that wasn’t counted.
This creature had been added to the gang’s member list after its Awakening through the Enlightenment Array, so Zhang Xiaoman was still one member short.
But now he was out of Star Dust, so this dog would have to wait, as he already had a summoning Ability and could summon Jin Bao anytime.
Just before ending the call with Lord Bear, Zhang Xiaoman had specifically instructed him to contact the others and inform them that several people had been approved through the shield’s identity net, so they could now use the Starry Stone for Teleportation directly.
Lord Bear, naturally, was very pleased to hear this as it not only facilitated their movements, but also allowed them to absorb the bodies of the monsters they killed using the Eye of the Starry Sky imprint they held, enabling them to claim Contribution rewards unobstructed.
Having just used up the seven portions of Star Dust, Zhang Xiaoman felt the scarcity of points.
It was still just the beginning, as each of these people would need their own set of Star Alliance uniforms and a Star Network Terminal. Altogether, that would cost another 16 portions of Star Dust.
Fortunately, the Star Network Terminal was chargeable, which didn’t make it too bad for him, but just the eight portions of Star Dust for the uniforms meant he’d have to wait a long time.
Zhang Xiaoman now felt that every official Awakener required a lot of his effort to nurture.
If possible, he sincerely wished he could be like those protagonists with player systems, just rolling out thousands of troops from the Fourth Catastrophe Army and steamrolling over everything.
Of course, those were just idle thoughts. Life has to be taken step by step, just as food must be eaten one bite at a time. If others’ methods don’t suit him, he should carve out his own path.
Fortunately, now that the biggest hidden danger of the Star Alliance had been resolved—the issue of Rebirth Island base—having the Shield Magnetic Field Interference Module meant he didn’t have to worry about the shield being broken for the time being.
All he needed to do now was develop his base peacefully, preparing for the Great Fusion that was yet to come fully.
However, while Zhang Xiaoman’s shield comfort was secure, unbeknownst to him, a group elsewhere was suffering bad luck.
...
Rebirth Island, northeast direction, at the edge of Seven-star Lake, the Sea Lion Reconnaissance Team.
The camp, which used to be brightly lit, had now plunged into endless dark, with people busily panicking, and the maintenance crew sweating profusely as they frantically tried to repair.
"William, damn it, why haven’t you fixed it yet? It’s been so long, just an electrical circuit failure, and you still haven’t sorted it out!"
Captain John roared as he groped his way over to a young team member’s side.
