Chapter 324: Chapter 208: Poison Liquid Acquired

"Damn creature! It was you releasing that stench all along! And you even took my form, today I will make sure you go to Hell!!"

Weiss clutched his head and raged.

Zhang Xiaoman glanced at the others and waited until Fog Heart ceased, then asked, "So, who’s willing to step up and personally finish it off?"

Upon hearing this, everyone’s gaze turned back to Fog Heart, preparing to speak, when Weiss cut in first:

"Let me do it, I’ve sworn to personally kill this stinky bastard, and it has taken my form no less, which is absolutely intolerable!"

Zhang Xiaoman looked at him, then nodded and said, "Alright then, be careful and watch out for its Spiritual Attack."

At those words, Weiss excitedly rubbed his hands together, feeling thrilled at the prospect of taking down such monsters.

As a Bounty Hunter, he had killed his fair share of bandits, but he had never come across such a peculiar monster until today.

"Including you, I’ll have three kills on record, what a nice number indeed. When I get back, I’ll need to boast about this to those guys for a good while, letting them know who the bravest man in Wildfire Team really is."

Weiss mumbled to himself as he walked towards Fog Heart, which seemed to sense the approaching danger and started screeching again, unleashing Spiritual Attacks while also calling for nearby comrades.

Unfortunately, it seemed there were no other monsters left in the mist. Seeing this, the others had strange expressions, and Xiao Shun couldn’t help but make a snide comment.

"Keep screaming, even if you scream your throat out, no one will come to save you."

Ultimately, Fog Heart didn’t escape its fate of being killed. Weiss had run out of bullets, so he pulled out a Dagger he carried with him, and plunged it into the face that looked exactly like his own.

With Fog Heart’s death, Zhang Xiaoman was awarded 1 point. It wasn’t much, but it was expected.

Still, even a mosquito leg is meat, and 1 point would take him a whole day’s worth of lottery draws to acquire, right?

And so, the greatest threat in the mist had been eliminated, but the fog wasn’t going to dissipate so quickly. The exact time frame was unclear even to Zhang Xiaoman, as he had never conducted such an investigation before.

Taking out a small bottle from his pocket, he collected some of the gas, planning to find some equipment to test it when he got back—even though he didn’t know whether there would be equipment capable of testing such a substance, as the paralysis effect was no joke.

Fog Heart had been located in a small woodland surrounded by a fence, and Lord Bear looked at the environment around them, his expression turning peculiar.

"What’s wrong? Did you find something?"

Hu Peng was the first to notice his abnormal reaction and asked aloud.

Narrowing his eyes, Lord Bear inspected a small thicket not far away more closely, then said in disbelief:

"It’s hard to imagine, someone actually kept Black Mamba Snakes inside a fence made of wood. I have no idea how they cohabitated, isn’t he afraid of being attacked?"

Everyone else followed his gaze and, after scrutinizing for quite a while, they realized that hidden amongst the bushes was a pitch-black poisonous snake.

"These snakes must have received regular feedings, otherwise they wouldn’t be so healthy," Lord Bear said, "but I don’t know where Old Toby got the feed for these snakes."

"I know, behind the valley, there’s a chicken coop, and those chickens were also raised by Old Toby. He had many of them, probably using them to feed the snakes," Weiss said.

Xun You smacked his lips with a look of astonishment on his face, "It’s such a luxury to feed chickens to snakes, I wonder what he was really after."

Weiss made a face, "Who knows, there are many locals here who worship the Witch God like he did—they always like to do some mysterious things. We’ve long been used to it. Anyway, these guys haven’t really produced any real Transcendents, just a bunch of self-deceiving followers. Look at Old Toby, he believed in the Witch God all his life but didn’t see any divine savior come to his aid when he died..."

Zhang Xiao Man listened to his words and thought back to the corpse he had seen in the cabin, shaking his head inwardly.

Weren’t the Masters he had seen before just like that?

One deceives one, another deceives many after all.

"Now that we’ve found the snakes, it’s a pity their owner is dead. What do you plan to do? This place will probably be abandoned before long if no one takes care of it."

Lord Bear was also somewhat helpless as he directed his gaze to Weiss, who had posed the question, and asked, "Do you have any idea what will happen to this land now that Old Toby is dead?"

Weiss glanced at him, "I’m afraid it won’t be long before wild animals take over, or if the locals discover it, they’ll take it for themselves. Then you’ll probably have to come back and start over, unless you occupy it beforehand..."

"Are you suggesting we station someone here?" Xiao Shun asked.

Weiss nodded, "Actually, it’s quite simple. Old Toby didn’t have any descendants, and now that he’s dead, no one remembers him. If you want some stability, then buy the right to use the land from the local government..."

"Although nobody might remember this place, this way is the most legitimate. Of course, if you don’t care, you might as well not spend the money."

"Oh? How much would it cost?" Zhang Xiao Man became interested.

After thinking for a moment, Weiss said, "This area is south of the Ubangi River, within the territory of Brazzaville. If you go to the local government to buy usage rights, it’s really cheap. Converted to US Dollars, it’s about 200 dollars a year, and it certainly won’t exceed 500 dollars."

"That cheap!" exclaimed Xun You.

Weiss smiled, "Of course, take a look at where we are. They can’t wait for someone to rent this land. As long as they don’t have to pay out of pocket, it’s basically a done deal."

"By the way, if you don’t have a suitable Manager in mind, I can introduce someone to you. I can even take care of the rental contract and the paperwork, as long as the commission you give is sufficient. After all, I am a Bounty Hunter," he said.

After pondering for a moment, Zhang Xiao Man nodded and replied, "Alright, but I’d like to know who you’re recommending?"

"He’s a villager from around here, Bell and the others have already met him—it’s Little Pier’s father; you can call him Nisael. He used to be an excellent Hunter until he broke a leg, but I’m confident he can manage this land with no issues. Of course, that’s provided you’re willing to pay him a salary."
