Chapter 322: Chapter 206 Desert Worm

Zhang Xiaoman said this and walked towards the edge of the mist with the others until he had sent them all out and then left.

Of course, there was a reason for this action; when he had come over earlier, he had recklessly used his skills until his dark energy had nearly run out, and now he needed to replenish the energy he had consumed.

After all, it was unknown how many monsters were hiding in this mist. He felt it was better not to explore rashly until he had made thorough preparations.

Using the Starry Stone, Zhang Xiaoman arrived at Rebirth Island and immediately used his wristwatch to contact Brother Hero, telling him that he had run into some issues and wouldn’t be back for dinner.

Besides Master Liu, all the others knew the true nature of the matter and naturally guessed what he was up to, thus they became somewhat distracted.

Zhang Xiaoman sat on Rebirth Island for a while, first storing the Teleport and Star Guard skills, and waited for the Starry Stone’s cooling time to end before replenishing his energy. Then he returned to Xiao Shun and the others.

"Bell, just who are you guys? Was that man your leader just now? My gosh, he was so cool. Is he a Super Hero? Are you one as well?"

Weiss was currently inquiring about Zhang Xiaoman, and Lord Bear looked helpless, evidently having been pestered by the guy for quite a while.

"Weiss, it’s not that I don’t want to tell you, but I absolutely cannot disclose this matter without the Star Lord’s consent. Even if you keep asking me a thousand times, I still can’t say."

Having said this, Lord Bear glanced at the bandaged wound and continued, "And about your injury; are you sure it’s not serious? I think you’d better lie down and rest."

Weiss nonchalantly waved his hand: "It’s all good, really. It might look terrible, but they are just superficial wounds. We bounty hunters don’t even need to go to the hospital for these small injuries."

As he was talking, he suddenly saw a slight ripple in the air on the vacant ground beside him, and then a figure just appeared out of nowhere.

"Good heavens, he’s back!"

Weiss immediately exclaimed, now he finally understood why those so-called reinforcements had arrived so quickly—it turned out he had an ability similar to teleportation, just like the mages in the legends!

"Everyone, thank you for waiting."

Seeing everyone approaching, Zhang Xiaoman waved his hand to summon four Star Guards and then reentered the mist.

Arriving at the place where the battle had recently occurred, Weiss’s Cassandra was still in place, now covered in scars.

Five Alien Species corpses were lying on the ground around them, four of which had been killed by headshots from Zhang Xiaoman’s Burst Spirit Skill, and one had been blown up by a Hand Grenade thrown by Weiss into its mouth.

Looking at these lifeless corpses in front of him, Zhang Xiaoman saw them as a wave of points. He couldn’t help but light up and promptly ordered the Star Guards to gather all five corpses together and then squatted down to absorb them one by one.

"Ding, Desolate Worm Essence absorbed, points increased by 6."

"Ding, Desolate Worm Essence absorbed, points increased by 7."

"..."

Five Desert Worms, that’s a total of 31 points, averaging about 6 points each, which added quite a bit to Zhang Xiaoman’s remaining point tally.

"So these creatures are called Desert Worms, they do look quite insect-like indeed, though they’re pretty big. The points they give aren’t much though, just about the same as an average Corpse Demon’s, really a waste of their size."

Zhang Xiaoman muttered to himself for a bit, then he remembered what they’d said about two more bodies in the valley and felt a surge of expectation. He decided to hurry over and collect the remaining points.

The group continued along the path they had been following and soon reached the valley, with four Star Guards leading the way. Coupled with Zhang Xiaoman’s Spirit Detection Technique, they encountered no danger on their way.

"This smell is truly unbearable. I swear if I find out what’s emitting this stench, I’m definitely chopping it into potato chips!"

Weiss complained while holding his nose. He thought today would just be a simple, easy side job to earn some extra cash. He even left his three teammates behind, planning to keep all the earnings for himself.

But unexpectedly, he found himself embroiled in such trouble in this valley: not only did he lose Lady, but he also almost lost himself too.

However, what surprised him the most was that he finally learned of the other side of this world today. There really were Transcendents as the legends said, those Mages, Super Heroes, they were all real. The few people before him unmistakably belonged to some unknown, mysterious organization.

"Hehe, if my teammates knew about what I encountered today, they’d probably get a real shock! Oh, no, they probably wouldn’t believe me and would say that I was bragging again."

Zhang Xiaoman was unaware of what this guy was thinking, but he appreciated the Bounty Hunter regardless. Being able to finish off three monsters under these conditions was somewhat impressive.

He planned to ask Lord Bear later if the conditions were suitable. They could consider recruiting him into the Star Alliance, which was in dire need of such combat talent.

They returned to Old Toby’s cottage, where one monster corpse lay inside, and another was on the roof.

"Ding, Absorbed Desolate Worm Essence, obtained 6 points."

Zhang Xiaoman withdrew his hand. The one inside the cottage was effortlessly absorbed, and the points were gained to his delight.

But the one on the roof was a bit more troublesome. The cottage wasn’t tall, but he couldn’t just climb up to absorb it, could he? That would be so embarrassing.

Just as Zhang Xiaoman was about to have the Star Guards drag it down, he had an idea. He extended his hand, gave a shake, and beckoned towards the roof. The monster’s body suddenly moved, as if propelled by a force, and fell off the roof.

The method he used was naturally the Dark Energy Shock. With his current control ability, doing this was quite easy.

The others envied his skill when they saw what he could do. Weiss, in particular, was dazzled; he felt the mysterious man in the black robe was just too cool, a spitting image of the Mage figure in his mind.

As a child, hadn’t he often imagined himself this way? Possessing extraordinary power to easily do what others couldn’t, and casually saving the world to become the most famous Super Hero.

Zhang Xiaoman glanced at the group, then squatted down next to the monster’s body and said:

"Dark Energy Shock, the instruction manual I gave you has the method of use. After you’ve mastered a few basic Magic Techniques, if you’re interested, you can try to learn it. But I must tell you beforehand, this ability is very hard to control, so I don’t recommend getting into it too
