Chapter 317: Chapter 201 Insect?

"Spirit Detection Technique?"

The group was stunned at the words, and the fox and dog friend duo immediately lowered their heads in shame; they had not yet learned this most basic skill.

Lord Bear asked, "Spirit Detection Technique? I don’t know this one, but I have learned the Burst Spirit Skill first. I’ve used it many times and have never succeeded in casting it."

Xiao Shun looked at him and nodded, "Good, I have also completed communicating with the Spirit Detection Technique, but like you, I have tried many times and failed. Every time, I feel like I’m just a little bit off. Wait a moment, let me give it a try..."

As he spoke, his arm waved in the air, beginning to arrange the formula for the Spirit Detection Technique.

"What exactly are you talking about? Why do I feel like there are many things you’re keeping from me, are we really here to find Old Toby?"

Weiss eventually couldn’t help but voice the question in his heart, looking at everyone with a skeptical gaze, feeling like he had been tricked by this bunch of guys.

Lord Bear patted his shoulder, reassuringly saying, "Don’t be nervous, Weiss, wasn’t Old Toby introduced to us by you? And as we’ve already explained to you, the Alien Species are those monsters, and this fog is their doing. We might have already wandered into these creatures’ lair by now."

Weiss looked at him with an "are you kidding me" expression.

"Bell, this joke really isn’t funny. You know I never believe in these things, I only believe in this."

As he spoke, he patted the gun in his hand.

Sweat beaded Xiao Shun’s forehead; he was fully concentrated on aligning the Dark Energy Particles. However, his first attempt seemed to end in failure, as the arm swaying in front of him suddenly stopped, and his facial expression was quite ugly.

"Everyone, we are in a dangerous situation, please stay quiet. I have one last chance left, stay alert."

His arm waved again, Dark Energy Particles being arranged and activated continuously. The sweat on his cheeks increased, indicating that he couldn’t afford a single mistake now.

Perhaps it was luck, or perhaps the immense pressure spurred him to overperform, but in the last attempt, Xiao Shun managed to steadily complete the Dark Energy Formula and successfully cast the skill.

With the casting of the skill, a silvery-white light appeared from the tips of his fingers. This was his first time using Extraordinary Power, making him excited as well.

But there was no time to waste, Xiao Shun hurriedly imitated how Zhang Xiaoman did it. Under the astonished gaze of Weiss and the envious eyes of the others, he lightly touched his finger, and the enhancement from the Spirit Detection Technique immediately transferred onto Weiss.

Yes, Xiao Shun did not choose to apply Spirit Detection Technique to himself but instead gave it to Weiss, the only one in the group with a weapon.

"Oh! Shit! What exactly is this!? Where is this black fog coming from! Why can I see this kind of thing!?" Weiss exclaimed.

Xiao Shun immediately hushed him, saying, "Weiss! Keep it down! This is Dark Energy, just think of it as magic. Now is not the time to ask questions. The Spirit Detection Technique has a radius of 50 meters, focus and check the surroundings, see if there is anything strange?"

With that, Weiss snapped back from his shock. Being an experienced Bounty Hunter, he wasn’t someone who hadn’t faced tough situations before and quickly made a judgment about the current situation, calming down immediately.

He stopped asking about the reason behind what was happening, deciding instead to concentrate fully on what Xiao Shun had told him to do.

"Damn it, I feel like all this black fog is something strange... Oh, fuck! What is that!?"

"What did you see?" Lord Bear asked anxiously.

"We’re surrounded! Damn it, what the hell is that? They seem to have spotted us and are coming this way."

Weiss’s eyes, glowing with a silver light, watched the direction from which they had come while gesturing for the others to hurry on ahead.

"Move it, get out of here! Into the house, these things are too huge, we need cover, quick! Go, go!"

Leading the group with swift steps towards the house, he kept his attention fixed behind them, daring not to be careless for even a second.

"What do those things look like, and how many are there?"

On the move, Xiao Shun was still inquiring about the monsters.

"There are three of them! They’re bigger than a water buffalo each! I can’t make out their exact appearance, I can only judge by their shape—it should be... fuck! I’ve never seen anything like this, it’s literally a monster!"

The rest of the group, upon hearing this, all had a look of dismay on their faces. Bigger than a water buffalo and there were three of them? From the sound of it, the alien species they were facing seemed way out of their league.

Fortunately, the small house in the valley wasn’t too far, and they reached their destination within just a couple of sentences’ exchange.

Here, the house bore obvious signs of invasion, and at the doorway lay the half-eaten corpse of a black dog.

"They’re hunting us! We’re surrounded outside, one at twelve o’clock, one at four o’clock, one at nine o’clock—everyone, be careful, they’re closing in."

Sweat formed on their foreheads as they secured the doors and windows of the house, grabbing anything that could be used as a weapon, all in a state of high alert.

The small house was in complete disarray, bloodstains were everywhere, and in the corner lay a body that seemed to be Old Toby as Weiss had mentioned.

As the three monsters approached, a series of sharp, ear-piercing, and bizarre cries also penetrated into the house. The sound was extremely unpleasant, like the horrific screeching of insects, causing one’s scalp to tingle at the mere listening.

"They’re here! They’re coming!"

With Weiss’s shout, the main door facing them suddenly burst open with a loud bang.

The rickety wooden door could hardly serve any purpose and was instantly smashed open.

What was revealed to them was a massive silhouette.

Just as Weiss had described, this monster was as big as an adult water buffalo, with a black carapace covering its entire body.

It wasn’t very tall, but it had a slender figure, and its sturdy body was evidently filled with explosive power.

It had a pair of long, sharp claws on its forelimbs, each claw tipped with two fingers, all of them razor-sharp.

Its entire form resembled that of an insect, magnified countless times.

"Ah! Damn beast! Let me show you what I’m made of! Ahhhhh!"

Weiss pulled the trigger the moment he saw the creature. The muzzle flared with a burst of flames, and bullets stormed towards the monster like a hurricane.
