Chapter 310: Chapter 194: The Koi Xiang Yu
"Hah, what utter nonsense, a waste of my time!"
At the table’s edge, a male student sneered coldly and immediately stood up. He looked down disdainfully at Yang Yangyang and the others in front of him before addressing the rest of the applicants:
"Such a clumsy scam, probably even the lowest scam organizations wouldn’t bother considering it. I can’t believe someone is still using this method to commit fraud. You all heard what he just said; I’m leaving. This seat should be left to someone truly brainless."
Having said this, he glanced at the three interviewers in front, then turned decisively and left the meeting room.
His departure caused the remaining four to look uncertain. Indeed, as he had said, everything Yang Yangyang had spoken sounded like a scam, simply because it was too illogical.
"Who was the guy who just left? What position was he applying for?"
Ji Xiaoqi was asking Su Changqing in a low voice.
"His name is Qin Moran; he’s in construction."
"Construction, huh... Well, that’s alright. Wasn’t there someone who scored nearly the same as him, just two points lower? How about we talk to him later?"
Su Changqing nodded and said, "Yes, that’s a good idea. But later, we should also give Qin Moran a call."
Ji Xiaoqi looked puzzled and said, "What for? Do you still want to call him back? Let me be clear, given his attitude just now, even if he changes his mind, I definitely don’t want him anymore."
Su Changqing chuckled and shook his head, saying, "You’re thinking too much. I just want to ensure he doesn’t spread rumors outside. I need to remind him about the confidentiality agreement he signed. I don’t want him causing us to pay a hefty fine for breach."
The three people on stage did not show too much surprise about Qin Moran’s departure. Such situations were already anticipated earlier, although now they had to find a replacement, which would be troublesome.
The four remaining applicants below began talking to each other. They were discussing the reliability of the job. Some were considering leaving but were reluctant to forgo the generous salary. Holding onto the thought that sticking around wouldn’t hurt, they decided to stay and continue observing.
"Everyone, there has been a minor hiccup which might delay our schedule slightly. I apologize in advance. Please give me just a minute; I need to make a phone call. Meanwhile, you all can take this time to further consider whether you want to join our company."
"Of course, I don’t recommend making a decision so swiftly. Later, I will show you all a video and there will be another announcement. I hope everyone can hold off on deciding until after viewing the additional information."
After finishing his speech, Yang Yangyang took out his phone and walked aside to make a call.
Meanwhile, at the entrance of the Edge of the World Pavilion, two young men were chatting and walking out.
"Hey, Yu Zi, how did your interview go? Did you pass, or did they tell you to wait for a notification at home?" one of the young men asked.
The young man they called Yu Zi was in his twenties, and although he was wearing a white shirt, his youthful face suggested that he must have just graduated and entered the workforce.
This person was one of the interviewees in Conference Room 9 for the second round of interviews. His name was Xiang Yu, and he had applied for a position in infrastructure. Unfortunately, he was eliminated by a mere two-point margin.
"Ah, waiting at home for a notification? I got rejected right there. But the interviewer told me to keep an eye on their company’s new recruitment plans and that I could still attend future interviews, saying I’d be given priority consideration..."
"By the way, I say, Liu Wei, you graduated a year ago, you have experience. Tell me, does this mean my chances are a bit better next time? I really envy their salaries, man. Salaries in the hundreds of thousands! Just thinking about it excites me, but alas, it’s not yet my turn..."
The young man named Liu Wei replied, "Yu Zi, don’t think too much about good things. In my opinion, it’s actually better that they rejected you outright. I hate those places that evidently don’t plan to hire you but still ask you to wait for a notification. You go home and wait expectantly for days, only to not hear back at all, not to mention the sheer waste of time."
"As for your next interview being given priority, just take it with a grain of salt. It’s just meant to console you, don’t take it too seriously. What I think is, you should first honestly find a job somewhere. Having a master’s degree isn’t that advantageous anymore. If you think you’re going to make a big leap right after graduation, it’s practically impossible..."
Hearing this, Xiang Yu realized that he likely really had no chance. Although he had passed the first round of interviews today, he had thought he could make it. In the end, it seems he had thought too much.
"Alright, since we are out today, how about we go to the internet café and play a few rounds? It’s been a while since we teamed up. Let’s not go home unless we get nine straight wins!"
Xiang Yu pushed his worries aside and happily agreed to the proposal.
"Let’s go. I’ll show you the Gale Secret Technique I recently mastered!"
"No worries, I’m used to you messing up by now. But let’s make it clear this time, don’t sit there stuck on those weird forums again. Spending all day on that stuff is just a waste of time. We might as well play a few more rounds."
Xiang Yu scratched his head and laughed: "Haha, it’s just a hobby. I find these bizarre tales kind of fun, and you wouldn’t believe it, but recently, the discussions about Spiritual Energy Recovery have been getting hotter. A couple of days ago, I even saw a video posted by a guy showing a plump, round creature. It clearly wasn’t anything normal..."
The other person quickly cut him off: "Alright, alright, you know me. I’m a staunch atheist, don’t start with that stuff. It just gives me a headache. We might as well talk about the girl group ’Four Swordsmen.’ I’ve been studying their tactics recently..."
"Uh, who are the ’Four Swordsmen’ girl group? I haven’t heard of them."
"You don’t know? Well, the ’Four Swordsmen’ are none other than Fast Sword, Giant Sword, Flying Sword, and Human Sword Integration!"
Xiang Yu paused momentarily before he realized which four heroes he was referring to. He was about to express his opinion that the Joyful Wind Man was really his favorite, the others not even coming close, when suddenly, his phone in his pocket began to ring.
Seeing it was an unfamiliar number and about to dismiss the call, it then occurred to him that he had attended several company interviews today. Maybe this was a call from one of the interviewers he was supposed to wait for a notification.
Then, filled with relief that he hadn’t hung up, after confirming what the other person on the line said, he couldn’t help but leap up excitedly, slapping his friend’s shoulder fiercely as he exclaimed:
"Hahaha! The HR from that company just called to say the previous interviewee gave up the position, I passed the second round! Dude, I’m afraid I can’t go to the internet with you today. I’m going to go back and sign my employment contract now, hahaha!"
