Chapter 301: Chapter 185 Sun Hao’s Job Search Plan

The next day, in a newly-built residential area in Qionghua City, a man in his twenties was lying on the sofa like a salted fish, staring blankly ahead.

The man’s name was Sun Hao, and he was currently unemployed.

Sun Hao had studied a major related to construction and had joined a local construction company directly after graduating from school, marking the start of his career.

From initially learning as a construction assistant following others around every day to being able to lead a team as a technician supervisor, and later becoming a construction engineer, Sun Hao had spent a total of five years in his journey.

In that time, he had overcome his internet addiction, and whenever he had free time, he immersed himself in studying relevant professional books, sought guidance from mentors, and took industry exams... Finally, at the age of 28, he obtained his professional engineering certificate, which promised a bright future.

His salary had also increased from the initial 3000 yuan per month to the current 8000 yuan. In Qionghua City, a less developed city, this was considered a high income.

His friends often asked him, "What really drives you to push yourself so hard?"

In response, he would joke, "Being ugly and poor, if I don’t push myself, I won’t even qualify to get married later on."

After hearing this, his friends would laugh along, not taking it seriously, but these were indeed his true feelings.

Yes, Sun Hao wasn’t handsome. He had an average height, his skin wasn’t dark, but he was quite heavy, easily weighing no less than 220 pounds.

Given that his family wasn’t wealthy and was just a typical laid-off workers’ family, as Sun Hao said, if he didn’t make an effort, perhaps no one would consider him as a potential match even in arranged meetings.

Therefore, Sun Hao had been striving hard over the years to study and earn money, although his plan to lose weight had never succeeded due to his constitution. Fortunately, his career was relatively smooth. Eventually, he had managed to take out a loan for a house and even got a girlfriend.

But fate is unpredictable. Just when he thought he could live a happily ever after, a serious safety accident occurred at his company.

The main cause of the accident was that an employee, for personal gain, secretly switched to cheaper materials, leading to consequences that implicated many, ultimately involving him as well.

As a result, Sun Hao’s certificate was revoked, and from then on, he lost the qualifications to work in his field, plunging from a smooth-sailing life course straight to rock bottom.

The only consolation in this disaster was that he was just implicated and thus did not bear any criminal liability or related compensation.

Though he felt quite innocent, Sun Hao didn’t have many options, and following this incident, the person he’d been dating for just two months left him, and he didn’t know how to repay the mortgage on his newly bought house.

All at once, it seemed like all the difficulties of the world had pressed down on him, making it hard for him to breathe.

But even though life had hit rock bottom, it had to go on.

Sun Hao’s next goal was to return to his old industry. Even though he had lost the qualifications to continue as an engineer, he could still start from the bottom. He believed that with his abilities, many companies would still need a technician like him.

Sun Hao thought it over and decided to first look for a construction company to work as a supervisor, to cover the mortgage initially. After five years, he would retake the certification exam, and then, he figured, things shouldn’t be too problematic.

"Life always has its low points, I need to bravely push through and then I can climb higher..."

As Sun Hao muttered these encouraging words from an online post, he opened his computer and logged onto a job-hunting website that he hadn’t visited for many years.

"Construction team leader, monthly salary 8000, work location, Tanhua City... Technician, monthly salary 7000, work location, Sunflower City... Documentation officer, monthly salary 6000, work location, Juhua City..."

He reviewed each listing on the webpage one by one but was somewhat distressed as he scratched his head.

"I clearly filtered the search for local recruitment in Qionghua City, so why are all the recommendations for other places? Are there really no construction units hiring here?"

"And these posted information, either the salary is too low or the work location is too far. It really makes it difficult for me to choose..."

Indeed, pursuing a career in construction engineering inevitably involves traveling to other places for work.

But Sun Hao was different; he was quite a homebody, preferring to work closer to home, ideally within Qionghua City.

This was also why he had not switched jobs before, as his previous company’s projects were almost all in Qionghua City and occasionally in the nearby towns.

Sun Hao lived with his mother following his parents’ divorce when he was young. If he were to go far away for work, his mother would be left alone at home, which he could hardly bear.

However, given the pressures of reality, he was forced to make such a choice. If he couldn’t find a relevant position in Qionghua City, he would have to look at other cities, as just the pressure from the mortgage was enough to crush him.

"Hmm, this one seems good, the salary is quite high, but it’s just a bit too far. If I want to go home for the holidays, it will probably be very difficult..."

"This one is quite close, but the salary is too low. In that case, I probably won’t be able to pay my mortgage..."

"This one has a reasonable distance, and the salary is so-so, it might be worth considering..."

As Sun Hao browsed through the webpage, he muttered softly to himself.

Although he was prepared to leave his hometown, when it came time to make a choice, his heart was still torn.

"Ah, is there really no local company in Qionghua City looking for people? Even if the salary is lower, it doesn’t matter..."

Sun Hao somewhat reluctantly switched the city back, hoping to take one more look at the local job postings.

After filtering through all construction-related options, none matched his criteria. Although there were construction sites looking for laborers, those were not within his consideration.

Just as Sun Hao was about to switch cities again, he suddenly caught sight of a large image advertisement in the corner of his eye.

If it were any normal day, he would have ignored such ads, but this time, three words caught his attention.
