Chapter 151: Chapter 49 A Distinguished Guest Arrives
"Uncle Three..."
When Ye Fei saw who had come, his voice suddenly softened, and his whole demeanor weakened as if he was quite afraid of his presence.
Ye Yunxiu strode forward, his face full of anger as he looked at Ye Fei, and said,
"You still recognize me as your Uncle Three? I attended that cultivation exchange conference yesterday too. What, do you think I can’t tell who’s genuine and who’s a fraud?"
"No, Uncle Three, you don’t understand! The high-tech these days is too impressive; fakes that pass for the real thing are just basic operations. They could even conjure a monster right in front of you, and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference."
Ye Fei was extremely anxious, as if he was a bystander trying to persuade friends and family out of a scam.
"Uncle Three, even though you studied in America, it’s been nearly ten years since you graduated and came back, right? The world has really advanced quickly these ten years, and you’ve been cooped up in the mountains with Grandpa cultivating all this time. Many things are beyond what you can imagine now! Just trust me this once!"
Upon hearing this, Ye Yunxiu nearly laughed out of anger. He reached out and gave this kid a hard knock on the forehead and scolded,
"You little brat, you won’t even listen to me now? Your Uncle Three has a degree in psychology, and you think I could get easily fooled? What your great-grandpa and I have acknowledged doesn’t need your unnecessary worry!"
"But, Uncle Three, these scams all rely on high-tech methods, which don’t really have much to do with your psychology skills..."
"Enough, enough. You little brat didn’t study well before, and now you don’t do your job seriously, constantly hanging out with your rowdy friends and joining some expedition team. If it weren’t for the fact that Big Brother asked me to look after you when he left, I would have long stopped bothering with you. Now, go apologize to Manager Sun. He’s also working for your great-grandpa, and what you’re doing is embarrassing him!"
Ye Fei’s face turned livid with anger from these words, and after clenching his teeth, he turned and ran off, shouting,
"You want me to apologize to him? No way! You guys aren’t listening to me now, just don’t regret it later!"
"Ah, this little brat was spoiled by Big Brother since he was a kid. Now that Big Brother is gone, no one in the family can control him... Manager Sun, please don’t take it to heart. I’ll talk to him later."
Ye Yunxiu shook his head and sighed as he watched Ye Fei’s retreating figure, then he glanced at a few disciples in Daoist robes nearby, and said to Manager Sun,
"By the way, when Xiao Fei said that last part just now, his eyes were looking over there, and when he left, he was in a hurry... Usually, he would go to the front hall to practice boxing, but instead he ran to the backyard. Considering his agitated state... I suspect they might be up to something. Later, you should have Xiao Qin and Xiao Jiang check it out and give them a scare. That should make them back off."
Manager Sun: "..."
...
On the other side, in Qionghua City.
Zhang Xiaoman had worn himself out using "One Flash" four times the night before, so he slept until nearly 10 a.m. before getting up.
Sleep after exhaustion always rejuvenates, and Zhang Xiaoman stretched comfortably in the sunlight. A life where he could sleep until naturally waking up each day had been a dream for him before.
After a quick wash, Zhang Xiaoman checked the time and abandoned the idea of taking his dog out to play, as the appointment with Mr. Ye was quickly approaching.
"It’s 10:05 now, and there’re only 25 minutes left until 10:30... man, this is killing me."
He said as he hurried into the room where the anti-gravity car was parked, opened the door, and scrambled inside.
Dragon Sleep Mountain was easy to find. While not many outside the circle knew about it, it was still searchable online.
Since many devout cultivators often visited there, it had become quite popular for its scenic beauty.
Once the destination was set, Zhang Xiaoman activated the stealth mode and carefully flew the car out of the "garage" located on the fifth floor.
He set the flight speed to Mach 3, and the automatic pilot mode of the anti-gravity car was forcibly engaged.
In this mode, to avoid the occupants inside from experiencing the effects of acceleration, the car would calculate and utilize the most stable and safest flight posture.
The whole flight process required almost no maneuvering, with all paths pre-calculated, ensuring a smooth deceleration even with occasional course adjustments.
Along with its special materials and stabilization modules, the flight felt vibration-free, and if it weren’t for the changing scenery, Zhang Xiaoman wouldn’t have realized he was traveling at high speed.
The flight lasted for about 20 minutes, and by the time the mountainous range of Camellia City came into view, Zhang Xiaoman still hadn’t fully grasped it.
Upon reaching the mountain peak where Dragon Sleep Mountain lay, Zhang Xiaoman didn’t directly drive into the courtyard. Instead, he found a secluded spot outside to land, then activated the skill "Eternal Trace Veil" and slowly made his way to the entrance of the Taoist temple.
Actually, calling it a Taoist temple wasn’t quite right. Dragon Sleep Mountain, as a sect with a thousand-year legacy, was very extensive in scale.
The majestic gate alone, built with towering stone pillars, was unmatched by many smaller sects, not to mention the long staircase and magnificent main hall beyond it.
Aside from himself, there were no other visitors in sight.
Zhang Xiaoman wasn’t sure if this was a tourist spot or not, but he wasn’t interested. His purpose here was simple; he was curious about what the so-called Dragon Sleep Stone really was.
In front of the mountain gate stood two young people in Daoist robes, about the same age as Lin Sisi.
The two young Taoists weren’t actually stationed there as guards, as this wasn’t a novel setting where guards were posted at gates all the time. Usually, one wouldn’t see welcoming senior brothers unless they proceeded to the rear halls along the path.
The two young Taoists stood there with their necks stretched, looking down the road. They had been there since morning because Manager Sun told them to wait for an eminent person.
"Ah, it’s so hot, we’ve been standing here for two hours and there’s no sign of any eminent person or even a shadow of anyone,"
one of the young Taoists complained, who turned out to be a young girl.
"Exactly, besides, how could there really be any eminents in this world? Unless he’s 2.2 meters tall, who’d know if he’s an eminent?"
"Xiao Du, I really can’t take it anymore. Let’s give it another half hour, then call it quits. We’ll just mention it to Manager Sun later. I mean, look at the time, no one’s coming anyway..."
While they were talking, they saw a head pop up from below the slope in front of them, followed by a body.
As the figure ascended the steps, the two young Taoists were startled to find the person cloaked entirely in a black shadow, a sight that almost sent the young girl running back up the mountain.
"Xiao, Xiao Ya. Don’t panic... He, he’s probably the ’eminent’ Manager Sun mentioned..."
The other young Taoist said, trying to reassure his companion as the figure drew nearer.
A moment later, the person shrouded in black shadow had arrived.
"Excuse me, is this Dragon Sleep Mountain?"
