Chapter 600: Chapter 32: Is This Also a Miracle?
Li Yu listened without comment.
He knew there were dwarven collaborators within the team, and after hearing the conversation between Red Beard and Iron Spear—the wild siblings, or rather, wild lovers—he also realized Red Beard’s identity was not simple.
He was clearly not an ordinary wild man, so Li Yu had specifically arranged for people to watch him. As expected, on the third day into the mountain, Red Beard could not restrain himself and started causing trouble.
But, as Tom had said, this guy’s methods were a bit crude, and he had acted sooner than Li Yu had anticipated.
It was so smooth it was almost unbelievable.
And regarding Iron Spear, Li Yu had held a reserved attitude when Ireya first suspected him, and there was a very important reason for this.
That was because Iron Spear was not someone they necessarily had to bring into the mountain.
Only people like Ireya, who were close to Li Yu, knew about his proficiency in languages. In other words, to outsiders, a translator who could communicate with wild people was undoubtedly valuable.
But that was under the assumption he could actually communicate with those wild men.
If Iron Spear was an informant, his method of sneaking into the army through Hels’s recommendation was undoubtedly smart, and his next step should have been to continue proving his value.
Instead, like now, after arriving at Solid Stone Castle, he turned out to be of no use at all, and his identity as the son of a wild man also made him easily suspectable.
This was particularly fatal for an informant, but this guy indeed had erased the mark left by Red Beard.
Li Yu said to Tom, "Thank you for your hard work, go rest for now. Also, continue having someone keep an eye on Iron Spear and those wild people to see if they make any more moves."
Tom nodded, placed his left fist over his chest, bowed to the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect, and then withdrew.
Li Yu then picked up a volume of the "Imperial Chronicles" and had only turned two pages when he heard the voice of the Lady outside the tent.
"Is Prophet Merlin there? Is he inside?"
After receiving an affirmative answer, Miss Rabbit walked in holding a blanket.
"Is something the matter?" Li Yu put down the book he was holding and asked.
"No, I just woke up and noticed you weren’t there, so I came looking for you," the young girl said, rubbing her eyes, groggily.
As she spoke, she laid the blanket on the ground and lay down on it.
"I find that whenever you’re by my side, I sleep especially well. Is this also a miracle?"
"Perhaps," Li Yu replied.
Miss Rabbit only felt a wave of drowsiness come over her, yawned, and fell asleep again in her clothes.
However, this time she was not able to sleep for long; soon another voice sounded outside the tent, "Is Prophet Merlin here?"
"Uh..." the tent guard hesitated.
"He is either here, or he is not. What do you mean by ’uh’?" the voice continued.
"The Prophet is in the tent, but..." The guard’s words were cut off as the person outside had already lifted the tent flap and entered.
"I have found Marquis Kuren and his ten thousand men, and they are not far..."
This time, Greta’s words were cut off mid-sentence as she glanced at Ireya lying on the ground and then at Li Yu by the table.
"I... can come back later," Greta said and was about to exit again.
"Wait, you just said you found Marquis Kuren and the ten thousand men he brought," Li Yu asked.
"Yes, I mobilized the mountain rats, and they energetically helped us search for people after receiving our gifts. Just now, a rat came back and told me that they found many people in a valley," Ireya explained.
"How many is ’many’?" the Lady inquired.
"I don’t know, the rats aren’t very good at counting, but I asked several of them, and they all confirmed that there are indeed quite a few people in that valley now," Ireya replied.
"Could they have stumbled upon a tribe of wild people?"
The Lady rose from the ground where she had been sitting, fully awake now upon hearing that Marquis Kuren and his companions might have been found. She interjected,
"No, the rats said that valley is usually deserted."
"How far is it from here?"
Greta thought for a moment, "Although the rats sprint quickly, they have limited stamina. They’ve been running for two days. Our army should be able to get there in just one day."
Without hesitation, the Lady immediately called a guard in and said,
"Go and gather the representatives of the other families here, tell them I have important news to announce."
The guard sensed the urgency in the Lady’s voice and immediately departed, while Miss Rabbit personally went to wake up Duren, Thomas, and the others next door.
Soon, the tent was again filled with people.
Already exhausted from marching, and now being awakened in the middle of the night, many had expressions of annoyance, faintly tinged with anger.
However, due to the Lady’s status, no one dared to complain openly.
If the forthcoming news wasn’t deemed important, they would probably curse internally.
But once Ireya announced the latest discovery, everyone’s dissatisfaction and sleepiness vanished, replaced by expressions of excitement.
However, some soon calmed down and began to question Miss Rabbit about her source of information.
Considering Greta’s unpleasant memories with the western nobles, the Lady obviously couldn’t tell the whole truth.
So her response was succinct, "This is a revelation from my lord."
Strictly speaking, this wasn’t a lie since Greta was currently working for the Double Rest Sect, and she had been brought here by Li Yu, so it was indeed Saturday’s revelation.
"Saturday told you where Marquis and his men are trapped?" someone asked.
"Absolutely," the girl affirmed confidently.
A buzz of discussion arose in the tent. The Double Rest Sect was indeed miraculous, and Li Yu, the Prophet, was powerful. Never before had anyone seen a Divine Officer send out miracles so liberally.
But for a deity to directly intervene and pinpoint the army’s location was still a bit too fantastic.
Ireya, not wasting words, declared straightaway, "Marquis and his men have been besieged for nearly twenty days now, still desperately holding on and waiting for our rescue. The sooner we get there, the more lives we can save."
Facundo from the Campos family was the first to agree, "Sir Ireya is right, it’s just a jaunt. Even if Marquis Kuren isn’t there, we have nothing to lose."
Following that, a representative from the Pope family also spoke, "I also support Sir Ireya."
With two people leading, others quickly followed suit, eagerly voicing their support.
Later, they awakened their subordinates, quickly gathered their belongings, and before dawn, the army once again set out.
Greta summoned the rats to lead the way, hastening towards the valley without stopping.
