Chapter 331 - 89 - Iris in the Hive
Chapter 331: 89 Chapter Iris in the Hive
Ireya regretted her words as soon as she finished them.
Because it obviously revealed her secret of knowing how to power on and off!
Fortunately, Li Yu didn’t pursue the matter further, but instead asked, "Do you have a way?"
"I lived in Duolin City for a while, mainly studying at the Sicily Temple and also met some people."
"There’s a guy named Constantino, his father, Ashuraf, is a vassal of the Raimondi family and also the sheriff of the city; he should be able to get you a passage order."
"Will Constantino help us? We are from the Double Rest Sect," warned Li Yu.
"Of course, I once saved that guy’s life; he owes me," paused Miss Rabbit, "Hmm, you can ask him if he remembers the iris in the Hive, then he will know who you are."
"The iris in the Hive," Redio repeated softly, and after confirming it, he thanked Ireya and Li Yu.
After ending the communication, Li Yu questioned the other side’s Ireya, "What does that phrase mean? Are you sure Jerry and the others going to the sheriff’s son in Duolin City won’t be walking into a trap?"
"Hmm, Constantino might be a bit silly, but he is upright and clear about debts and grudges," said the Lady.
"The Hive is a marketplace within Duolin City, selling all sorts of stuff, quite interesting. Adelle and I used to hang out there when we felt weary from our studies.
"Constantino is an admirer of Adelle. He somehow got wind of us and waited there with an iris, only to have Sir Ed’s younger son, Shapiro, find out. He was also fiercely pursuing Adelle at the time.
"He kept bothering Adelle, incessantly, really annoying, but Adelle didn’t give him the time of day. Probably trying to do something big to catch Adelle’s attention, Constantino just happened to fall into his hands.
"So Shapiro decided to challenge Constantino to a duel, even declaring it would be to the death. Constantino, being a vassal of the Raimondi family, and his swordsmanship not as good as Shapiro’s, was surely doomed.
"I had dealt with Constantino a few times before, and although he was foolish, he had a good heart. It would have been too unfortunate if he had died so senselessly. So, I helped him out.
"When he came towards us, before he could even speak, I took the iris from his hand.
"This way, Shapiro hiding in the dark had no reason to challenge him; otherwise, it would have become public knowledge that they were jealous over me."
...
While Li Yu was still discussing the iris with Ireya, Redio had already put away the radio he had been carrying and hidden it back on his person.
Afterwards, he said to the completely bewildered Tom beside him, "Captain Jerry, Prophet Merlin and Lord have already given us direction; you know what to do next, right?"
He maintained his respect only towards Li Yu and the Lady, but reverted to his usual insolent demeanor as if the entire world owed him money when speaking to everyone else.
However, Tom was still immersed in shock from earlier and didn’t mind his attitude.
It was not until Redio reminded him that he snapped back to reality, then as if remembering something exciting, he said, "This...this is what Holy Artifact?"
"A radio," Redio didn’t hide, "It contains electromagnetic forces."
"With this Holy Artifact, does that mean we can keep in contact with Prophet Merlin at all times? Can we consult him whenever we encounter any problems?"
"Prophet is extremely busy every day," Redio said indifferently, "What we should do is relieve his worries, not trouble him with every little matter. So unless it’s a desperate situation like now, we should try to resolve troubles on our own first."
"Of course, of course." Tom nodded repeatedly, feeling more confident about the upcoming mission, and said to Redio, "Then let’s go look for that Constantino now."
Afterward, the group drove four wine-laden carts slowly towards the city gates of Duolin City, only to be stopped by a squad of guards about twenty steps away from the gate.
"What are you hauling on these carts?"
"Grape wine, fine grape wine, sir." Tom said, as he voluntarily opened one barrel.
However, the leader remained unimpressed, "Go sell your wine in another town; you can’t go any further."
After saying that, he shifted his gaze towards the other Lizardman Warriors, a cold smile hooking at the corner of his mouth.
"Wait, I’ve changed my mind. Except for that young lad over there, all of you are so robustly built, you don’t look like any grape wine merchants at all.
"I bet you are spies sent by that traitor Matina. Just perfect, arrest them all."
Many of the Lizardman Warriors now understood basic Universal Language well and saw that the guards were not friendly towards them, preparing to fight back.
However, they were stopped by Captain Tom, who spoke again, "We are not spies. In fact, this batch of wine was ordered by Sir Ashuraf, meant to be a celebratory drink after the war."
The leader hesitated with his sword, suspicion crossing his face, "Sir Ashuraf?"
"His son Constantino can vouch for us," Tom added, "We are from the Iris Commerce of the Hive."
"Iris Commerce?" The leader frowned, no longer insisting on confrontation, but instead surrounded Tom and his group, then sent a subordinate to fetch someone.
After a moment, a young man riding a brown horse came out from the city. He looked at Tom and the others with a conflicted gaze, struggled for a while, and then turned to the captain of the earlier squad.
"My father did indeed order a batch of wine."
"Are you sure he ordered it from these people? Because those delivering the wine could also be killed en route, and replaced by others."
"I’ve seen them before in the city, Captain Justin, are you doubting my eyes or my memory?" the young man raised his voice.
The guard captain named Justin didn’t say anything further, but simply made a bowing gesture, then called to the guards behind him to patrol elsewhere.
Tom raised his eyebrows, about to thank Constantino, when he already heard the latter’s voice again, "You’re quite bold, being followers of Saturday and daring to step onto the Silver Moon Church’s territory.
"I can save you once, but not a second time. Leave the wine here and get lost."
"I’m afraid that won’t do," Tom said, "We need to enter the city."
