Chapter 84: Chapter 84 Isn’t a Mechanic Supposed to Solve Mechanical Problems?

The first round of the Gemstone Hurricane forced Mazan to hastily leave the Deep Sea Base, as she was not meant to stay on the ocean floor after all; it is the deep sea.

And Mazan was just an ordinary person who could not move freely within the Deep Sea Base without the aid of some special items.

After the first round of the Gemstone Hurricane passed, the Deep Sea Base returned to its usual calm.

But the mechanics were not so quick to quiet down, a group with a combined age of several hundred years were arguing incessantly.

Although Chen Qing had drawn a blueprint that isolated the Defense section, due to her knowledge and experience, she had to leave some hidden dangers on her blueprint.

These were issues that Chen Qing, at her current stage, could not yet resolve.

Concerning these risks, each School Mechanic had their own ideas, and all believed theirs were the best.

Chen Qing didn’t join in, letting them argue fiercely amongst themselves.

Arguing was no matter, as long as they could come up with a solution in the end.

As the mechanics argued, they began to take action, none yielding to another, as they couldn’t demonstrate convincing abilities like Chen Qing could.

Their strengths were quite similar, and whereas previous "kings" felt no need to meet, now that they had, they inevitably had to exchange professional experiences and prove their abilities.

And when their upgrade turned to action, Chen Qing calmly sat on the side, drinking tea, reading books, and flipping through data.

Not to mention, those mechanics really had impressive hands-on skills.

Even better than Chen Qing’s.

While fighting, the mechanics couldn’t help but notice Chen Qing sitting calmly aside, and they felt quite complex about it.

The scariest thing of all, after all, is someone with more talent than you working harder than you.

It really causes worry and anxiety.

"Cough—"

Brown coughed awkwardly, with a similar embarrassment spreading among the group of middle-aged people.

It was really something, being laughed at by a child.

They were all so much older than Chen Qing, yet they had not set a good example.

"Have you come to a conclusion?"

When the sound of fighting ceased, Chen Qing looked up at the group. Her gaze was calm, even with a hint of a smirk.

Xia Li felt she must have seen it wrong, but upon closer inspection, Chen Qing’s face was once again expressionless, a deadpan mask.

It must have been an illusion.

"...."

Facing Chen Qing’s question, the mechanics looked at each other in dismay, realizing they had been too focused on fighting.

The modifications Chen Qing made to the defense blueprints had allowed their long-tense spirits to relax all at once, and the emotions that had built up inside them had all burst forth.

That’s why the mechanics had escalated from arguing to brawling—they were aware of it in their hearts.

"Shall we continue the discussion?"

Chen Qing closed her book, her dull voice seeming to strike at their very hearts, making them involuntarily shudder.

For some reason, this version of Chen Qing made them feel like they were back to their student days under their teacher.

"Yes, let’s continue."

"Ah, right, right."

The mechanics quickly agreed and sat down at the long table that Chen Qing had seemingly conjured up out of nowhere.

A familiar, oversized blackboard, well-known to the survivors, was wheeled in front of the School Mechanics.

Teacher Chen Qing’s class was about to start.

A vast amount of data and experimental material were laid out in front of the School Mechanics, and after a brief period of venting, they still had to fully immerse themselves in work once again.

Chen Qing and her team had to solve these hidden dangers in the shortest time possible and then start on new projects.

The calm School Mechanics were still reliable; after all, they had been mixing in the field for many more years than Chen Qing and had certainly acquired some genuine skills.

Without real talent, one could at best pile their professional level up to Advanced Mechanic, but they would never have the chance to enter the School.

The Deep Sea Base began to devote itself wholeheartedly to the work, and Sapphire Island above was also busy.

Although the first round of the Gemstone Hurricane did not cause any damage to the island, the damaged protective shield meant that if it was not repaired before the next Gemstone Hurricane, Sapphire Island would be in danger.

The survivors in the Bounty Guild were witnessing such a scene for the first time, the entire island enveloped by pitch-black seawater and storm, the entire sea area dominated by darkness, with no sight of anything beyond Sapphire Island.

Even on Sapphire Island, it had lost its lighting due to the Gemstone Hurricane, and the originally installed electric lights had all failed to function.

The island could only rely on some special items to maintain a faint visibility.

The dim and dismal lights, the persistent danger shrouding the island, anxiety and fear haunted the survivors trapped on Sapphire Island, with the threat of death looming over them like a shadow.

The only consolation was that, at least in that darkness, one could occasionally see some lights.

It was the sparkle from the gemstones brought by the Gemstone Hurricane.

But this was hardly a consolation; after all, one needed to be alive to enjoy wealth.

Crushed by immense pressure, the survivors desperately tried to get in touch with Chen Qing.

Whether Chen Qing was willing to help them or not, it was good just to have her there.

As long as Chen Qing was there, they would at least not panic like this.

The powerful Chen Qing was undoubtedly the stabilizer in their hearts.

Unfortunately, Chen Qing was currently trapped in the Deep Sea Base.

The Mechanics inside the base bore a much greater pressure and responsibility than those outside.

Especially Chen Qing, on whom the Mechanics had pinned high hopes.

The blueprint for the defense construction was ultimately of the Red Quality A-Level, extremely ingenious, easy to disassemble, but difficult to finalize.

As the day passed, the Mechanics had not found a perfect way to finish the task; at best, they could only reduce some of the hidden dangers left by Chen Qing.

If they couldn’t come up with a solution, they would have to use the current blueprint.

"Maybe we should change our approach?"

Chen Qing, staring at the current phase’s third version of the defense construction blueprint, suddenly had a flash of inspiration.

If this path was blocked, they could choose another path, or even forge a new one.

"According to the current blueprint, these are some of the hidden danger points."

"These two locations are weak points in the defense, this hidden entrance could become a breakthrough point for the enemy, and there’s a problem with the energy transmission along this route..."

Chen Qing identified each hidden danger on the third version of the blueprint and then reopened the original blueprint.

"I think we have fallen into a trap; let’s switch our thinking. Once the construction is manufactured, it will be a tangible entity."

"If we drop the notion that it is currently just a blueprint, which we can’t change anymore, can’t we complete a mechanical structure’s hidden dangers?"

"Aren’t Mechanics supposed to solve mechanical problems?"

Chen Qing asked rhetorically.

Her words immediately enlightened the Mechanics, and they were struck with inspiration!

That’s right, they couldn’t further perfect the blueprint, but a mechanical structure...

Isn’t that exactly what they’re good at?! What is their role as Mechanics if not to make machinery and solve mechanical problems!

And this defense construction was exactly a large-scale machinery!
