Chapter 213: Chapter 213: Inner Disciple Selection Ceremony! (2)

Reon and Xu Yang finally arrived at the grand gate of the Dueling Arena.

A large banner hung overhead, boldly displaying the words: Inner Disciple Selection Ceremony.

The area outside was bustling with noise and activity. Disciples crowded the road, excitement in the air thick enough to taste.

Dozens of makeshift stalls had sprung up along the sides, each manned by disciples hoping to earn Sect Points before the competition began.

"Mid-Tier, Grade-2 Healing Pill! Only 8,000 Sect Points! A must-have for those entering battle—don’t miss it!"

"A Low-Tier, Grade-2 Heaven-Breaking Excalibur—yours for just 10,000 Sect Points!"

"High-Tier, Grade-2 Anti-Poison Pill! Only 12,000 Sect Points! You won’t find these anywhere else today—supplies are limited!"

The shouts from the stall owners echoed down the road as they hawked their goods with practiced fervor.

Reon scanned the chaos calmly, his eyes glinting with amusement.

’Damn... Those prices are ridiculous. And yet, the participants are still buying them like crazy. Everything in the sect is off today because of the competition, so the market’s gone wild.’

’Thankfully, I bought everything I needed ahead of time.

As they pushed forward through the sea of people, a group of Inner Disciples approached from ahead and swiftly surrounded them.

Their expressions were friendly, yet their intent clear—they were here to recruit.

Each of them spoke eagerly, trying to pitch their faction first:

"Junior Brothers, once you pass the competition, consider joining our Blue Mountain Peak. We offer priority access to secluded cultivation chambers and weekly sparring matches with elite disciples."

"Don’t be swayed too fast! Join Azure Sky Peak—we provide five Common-Grade Spirit Stones per month and an Uncommon-Grade technique as your joining gift!"

"Jade Lotus Peak gives ten Common-Grade Spirit Stones monthly, and we’ll grant you a Low-Tier Rare-Grade Breathing Technique as a bonus."

"If you’re into alchemy or herbalism, join our Herb Farming Peak. We supply rare herbs for free, under light contribution duties. You’ll grow fast with us."

"We of the Disciplinary Hall offer you the honor of maintaining law and order in the sect. If you want prestige, justice, and a righteous path—join us!"

More recruiters arrived, each representing a different Peak, Hall, Temple, or Pavilion—offering all sorts of perks, from secluded cultivation spaces to exclusive techniques, secret manuals, and even personal guidance from Core Disciples.

Xu Yang looked a little overwhelmed but smiled politely.

Reon maintained his calm, giving a courteous nod to each.

"Yes, yes, Senior Brothers," they replied together. "We’ll certainly consider your offers after the competition."

"Tch..."

"Idiots... can’t even decide what’s good for them."

"They won’t even make it past the competition. Why can’t I find any decent disciples?"

Receiving no clear answers, the Inner Disciples finally dispersed, irritation written all over their faces—leaving the path ahead open once more.

Reon sighed inwardly.

’The real fight hasn’t even started yet, and the sect politics already kicked in. Tch... things really are heating up now.’

"Hey, Xiao Yang," Reon asked, turning to Xu Yang as they walked through the crowd. "Have you decided which faction you want to join?"

Xu Yang’s eyes sparkled with determination.

"Actually... my dream is to join Sky Sword Peak—the one that trains only sword cultivators."

Reon’s brows rose slightly.

’Ah... Sky Sword Peak. That’s the same peak Yang Lie joined in the original novel.’

’It’s the most prestigious and respected peak in the entire Supreme Dao Sect. Known for producing countless Sword Elites, many Sword Masters, and even a few Sword Grandmasters.’

’Naturally, it’s the dream of every sword cultivator to join them.’

’But because of that, it’s also the most difficult peak to get into. To even qualify, you need to rank in the Top 20 of the Inner Disciple Selection Ceremony—and even then, they only accept ten disciples each year.’

Xu Yang looked up at Reon with eager eyes.

"Which faction are you aiming for, Big Brother?"

Reon gave a faint smile.

’I haven’t decided yet... but if I want to kill Yang Lie, I’ll have to join Sky Sword Peak.’

"Hm... I’ll aim for Sky Sword Peak too," Reon said with a calm nod.

Xu Yang’s face lit up.

"That’s amazing, Big Brother! That means we’ll be together again! Let’s give it our all!"

"Yep!"

The two continued forward, blending into the growing crowd of disciples.

After several minutes of walking through the wide roads, they finally reached the entrance to the grand Dueling Arena—and stopped in awe.

Before them stretched an enormous coliseum, overflowing with people.

The arena floor itself, meant for competitors, was already packed shoulder-to-shoulder with disciples.

Not a single open spot could be seen.

Reon blinked in disbelief.

"Hey, Xu Yang... are you sure only a thousand disciples registered for this?"

Xu Yang stared ahead, equally stunned.

"Definitely not, Big Brother. There has to be over two thousand people here. Maybe even more."

Reon frowned.

"Think they’ll increase the number of slots for the Inner Sect?"

Xu Yang shook his head.

"Highly unlikely. The sect hasn’t changed its recruitment numbers for decades."

"Damn..."

Reon’s gaze drifted upward toward the stands—rows upon rows of spectator seats encircled the arena.

The lower seating was crammed with Outer Disciples who didn’t qualify to participate—those who failed to reach the required cultivation level, but still came to watch.

Above them sat the Inner Disciples—those who had either failed to qualify for the ongoing Core Disciple Selection or withdrawn midway.

They observed with keen interest, looking to recruit the best and brightest among the Outer Disciples into their own factions.

Further up, veiled in mystery and hidden identities, sat a few Core Disciples, watching quietly from the shadows.

And at the very top—seated upon majestic grand chairs carved from spirit jade—were thirty-six Elders, each representing one of the sect’s Peaks, Halls, Temples, and Pavilions.

They sat with calm pride and fierce eyes, observing the sea of talent below.

Today, they were here not just to observe—but to handpick the finest disciples for their personal factions.

If any among the competitors were truly exceptional... they might even be chosen as personal disciples by the Elders themselves.

Then—

A voice echoed from above, amplified by Spiritual Qi, spreading to every corner of the arena.

"Attention, everyone."

"The Inner Disciple Selection Ceremony will begin in a few minutes."
