The king’s decorations are a show of pride, one that the Furfantes didn’t appreciate. They had been working towards removing the king from his seat and yet the man only ever got prouder by the day.
It was almost as if nothing affected him and it wasn’t a good look for anyone. The Furfantes were losing their shit quite literally. There was no way the mad king always had something to lose, yet always never cared about the repercussions.
It was almost as if he didn’t give a shit what anyone thought of his king, which was not okay because anyone with anything to lose was supposed to be worried. But then Zaffuto had tasted loss.
He had lived in loss for over two decades. He had suffered in that pain and he knew what it truly meant to lose. The Furfantes should have been careful, but then they were proud of their progress.
Perhaps that was why they were here, again, at their meeting spot while Zula and Ashton were Grealors.
"We need to stop the man before his pride gets his head blown off," Sanjiro, the leader of the Furfantes said. He had a spite for the mad king and it ran so deep that no one knew whether it would end or even when it started.
It was almost like the mad king was the worst thing that Sanjiro had ever had to come across and now, he needed him gone. Perhaps it was in the way that the prince had agreed to give in to his father’s whims.
Or maybe it was in the way that the king, who despised werewolves, didn’t hesitate to bring a wolf into their midst and transition him into one of them and even gave him a high-ranking position.
Or maybe it was because of the omega that had the highest royal status.
The omega would eventually be their luna queen if they didn’t put an end to the king’s madness. It was supposed to be comforting for many, that the king had a heart, and yet to the Furfantes, they didn’t feel it so.
It was as if the king was just throwing hair in their faces and letting them know who to target. That was the kind of thing that happened when all the protective measures were reinstated.
Perhaps that was also why they couldn’t meet at the Kawai palace basement like they always did. It was a crazy time for them and heels would be damned before they let their pride be crushed by that of the craziest man alive.
"You give up too soon, Sanji," Sirius said as he looked at the irate Lycan.
They were all in the same state, truly, but then there had to be more to this meeting than this whining about the mad king and all that the man ever did. It was not how they had brought up their group and frankly, they were not about to let shit be just because of the king.
"What is that supposed to mean? You do realize that the Little Prince is literally the strongest of Lycans. Even stronger than his father, right?" Leo, the other Furfante said and Sirius chuckled knowingly.
It was hilarious to some point given they were supposed to be opposing the king and suddenly they were also paying attention to the kid that was in the place. But then wasn’t that the strength of their plans lay and their weaknesses too?
What if they tried the king of shit that turned Tamiko against them, would it ever be alright?
"King Zaffuto just isolated the kingdom and potentially divided it into two. The people he cares about most, and the people he thinks are dispensable," Sirius voiced and they stared at him like that was supposed to mean anything.
Over the years, that was how the hierarchy had always been and it was not new to any kingdom. Of course, the king would always care about his family more; it was common sense for anyone with a family.
They never had to choose between their mielies, so what the fuck was Sirius playing at right now?
"That’s obvious," Sanji reminded.
"But that also means that we can use the people to turn against him," Sirius said and this time, Sanjiro laughed cynically. He couldn’t believe that after all the years they had struggled to be better than the king, this was what they were trying to do.
It was pathetic, to say the least, and there wasn’t a soul that would deny that. The king was the king. He was never going to change and the Hinatas were always going to be the strongest breed of Lycans.
Whatever Sirius was planning was clearly never going to work for them. Tyee had to think of other things because otherwise they were doomed before the event began what they were supposed to work towards.
And that would mean endless losses.
"Mad Zaffuto can’t be threatened, Sirius. You should know that by now. The people can’t be turned against him either. Think of all that he has done for the kingdom and what it would mean for Kawai to lose the king.
"If Zaffuto or the house Hinata is ever forced to step down from the kingship. There will never be a sane Kawai. The Lycans know it. The only reason Kawai is respected and unbeatable is because of the king. Which is why we cannot start a rebellion.
"That will just make hair harder for us. The only thing we can do is destroy Hinata’s house Hinata from the inside. It is the only option. If ever the house crumbles, then the people will say that Kawai was never affected.
"In fact, they will assume that there could always be a different leader. Kawai will be presented with a new leader, upon the apparent recommendation of the Hinatas, thus making the kingdom stable and keeping our enemies away.
"We can’t eliminate the house Hinata completely first. So, we have to figure out a way of destroying them from within. Let them ruin themselves," Sanji said and Leo stared at him. This idea was way more beer than what Sirius was suggesting.
With this, there was a higher chance of them becoming part of the council and not having to let Kawai down. The Lycans would still remain the strongest race in the realm and the most unapproachable.
They would still have the power they had today and there wouldn’t be any chaos.
It was a good plan, and they stared at each other in agreement. This right here was their way out and if they had to beat the king, they would have to let the people the king loved do the most damage. It wasn’t that hard, right?
"Igor Konstantin still remains the greatest weakness of the kingship. You saw the king leave Kawai to go look for him. The warriors were also searching for him. The barbarians had their own search parties too.
"The kingdom was brought to a standstill because of one omega that probably wouldn’t mean much if he didn’t get mated to the house Hinata. The entire search party wasn’t because of the man being a Lycan Chief, no.
"It was because he is the greatest weakness of the Hinata house. So, if we find a way to get Igor against them, then we will just have work easily sorted," Leo said and the other duo agreed.
They were going against everything in nature by trying to fuck up the very house that kept them sane. It was a soiree madness and the fact that they were thinking that Igor was on their way to the house Hinata was something else.
But then they had conditions and with them stood the one house that had ruled the kingdom for so many years.
Maybe it was time for a change, but with all that was happening in the realm right now, was that the right moment for them to be playing hide and seek with each other? Was it ever going to be alright? And what were the stakes?
"The barbarian won’t let himself be used as a pawn to bring down his Erasthai. You should know that too," Sirius reminded and they sighed. This was not meant to be easy, but fuck was already seeming like the worst of the worst ideas for them.
"Akila. If we hurt Akila and blame it on the young prince, then we will have the king’s attention. Everyone knows that Akila was tortured by the young prince. The only thing we have to do;
"... is to make it seem like the warrior is experiencing worse side effects from the shit that he was put through," Sanji said as he stared at his friends.
They had worked so hard to get to this point and it would simply be a pity if they failed to reach the execution stage just because they didn’t exploit the simplest courts to get to House Hinata’s greatest weakness.
Maybe it was the worst thing that was going to happen, but someone had to pay, right? Someone had to be the reason the Great House fell. It had to just be so that there wouldn’t be an issue that linked back to them.
Oh, but it was so easy, right?
"That is the most ruthless thing you’ve ever suggested, Sanji. But then Zaffuto must feel the pain like we all did. He just has to be the one to make the decision himself. Besides, everyone knows the prince is always easily on a rampage.
"So why don’t we give everyone someone to direct their rage towards?" Leo said before they all joined in laughing.
They were determined to bring down the king and if they had to use every other avenue to get to him, then they would no matter how long it would take them.
"Alright, let’s get to work, shall we?"
