Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL] -
Chapter 248: Of Happiness, A Time To Party
Chapter 248: Of Happiness, A Time To Party
[KAWAI]
The king had sensed his son’s happiness and he knew what had happened. And like a bird that had been freed, he jumped around his office, while his brother and his new Lord stared in confusion.
It took a moment for them to realize what the king’s course of happiness was and frankly, relief washed over them. The tension that had been there for endless weeks was suddenly gone.
The rage in the air and the stench of heartbreak were fading, and the king could finally smile. But it wasn’t just about the king anymore. This was about the happiness of the people of Kawai, the joy of his dearest son who was meant for greater things.
King Zaffuto was glad they had crossed that bridge, but even he knew that this was just the beginning. They were yet to face worse adversaries and it would be a tad challenging given the threats that they had received.
But then for the sake of Tamiko and his happiness, the king would call for a celebration. It was the only possible thing he could think of.
"That is a little too much, don’t you think?" Danny asked, unsure of whether this was the right time. In the years he had known Tamiko, celebrations were never a thing for his brother.
It was like they were the worst part of a dream that Tamiko struggled to engage in. He had seen his brother hide away most of the time and the mating ceremony at Grealor had proven to Tamiko more than once that he would never like ceremonies.
But then again, there were many things that had happened in Kawai. The tides had changed and perhaps the lives they had lived in Grealor and the past that had broken them one too many times was finally taking a break.
Maybe this was the moment for them to understand that with harmony there would always be a chance at happiness. They just had to find the perfect string and they would be alright.
They had to be anyway because there was no strength left to go to war this time, the Lycans had suffered and while they could still fight battles and win, they also deserved to be happy.
"Let him be. It’s the first time he is really happy and if we ruin it for him, he wouldn’t be throwing parties even if he sneezes," Lord Sadako said and Danny stared at the enthusiastic king who was obviously giving orders via the mind links.
He opened happily; a strange sight that had gotten Danny curious about the mad king. There was never a good way to look at the king and yet right now, he looked nothing like the man who had terrorized the entire realm and more.
Perhaps this was what he had chosen to be like, but then it wasn’t like they could even complain about that, no? This was what happiness was about to look like for them. They were happy and the king wanted his bets right now.
"What are his favorite colors?" King Zaffuto asked and Danny knew it was directed to him. Then again, he couldn’t quite think of the colors that his best friend would love over the years.
Tamiko was always dressed in loins and clothes that did nothing to cover him. He hated blood for sure, at least that was something that Danny had noticed. But then there was something about the way that Tamiko had been talking about Kosta’s green eyes.
It was out of love, and the king had to have seen that too. Perhaps that was Tamiko’s favorite color? Or was it lavender? Oh, but this was a battle that Danny wasn’t sure he would be able to come out of peacefully.
Maybe he just had to think about it twice and later, no?
"Honey-brown," Danny said and the king lifted his head as if he wanted to be sure of what Danny had just said.
"Say that again?" the king said.
Danny Wasn’t sure if he was in trouble or if this was the greatest test of whatever was left of his life. Maybe he had managed to lose every man and he just needed to come close to the king to figure out what the fuck this was about.
There was no reason for him to be staying on the sidelines and yet as he stared at the king, he didn’t see a hint of the joking king anymore.
"Honey-brown," Danny voiced uncertainty and the king began breathing heavily. It was like he was exercising a different emotion which was weird but then what the fuck was Danny supposed to do?
However, before Danny could say something else, the king disappeared, while Sadako stared at the emptiness sadly. It was almost like this was a foreign scent and he wished to live through it again.
But life was a bitch and most of the time, they didn’t always get what they wanted, no?
"Did I say something worn?" Danny asked in confusion. He wasn’t sure what he had done but clearly, the motion of honey brown meant something to the king given the way that he had bolted.
Danny wanted to be of help, to understand what the fuck was going on, but at the same time, he was worried that this had upset the king and that the next possible thing that the devil of Kawai would do was to dismember him.
It wasn’t something that he could get past the man, but maybe this was the test of how the civil man could be, no?
"Not really. Queen Liana’s eyes were honey-brown, including her scent," Lord Sadako said softly and Danny sighed softly. He had expected this but at the same time, he knew what it meant for the king.
When Danny had lost his mate, his entire world had come apart. He had not been able to think clearly and anything that smelled of the brain and woods reminded him of the times that had spent with his mate.
He had missed the man one too many times and while he was still struggling to accept the fact that he would never see his mate, Danny was slowly coming to terms with the truth that perhaps it just wasn’t meant to be.
Perhaps the war that they were getting into would have hurt his mate even more. But that still didn’t make it any better. Maybe that was why it was so easy for him to be on the same page with the king.
"I’m sorry about that... I didn’t know," Danny admitted before adding, "Do you have an Erasthai too? I never had you talk about him or her."
"No. I never wanted one," Lord Sadako said as he looked at his brother’s desk and a fucked-up thought hit Danny’s head.
For a moment he knew that he would be doomed if he voiced it, and this time, this was one that he was never going to make known. It was a dangerous thought that could topple the entire kingdom and possibly the realm.
Then again, as he had noticed, the eyes that Sadako had been giving King Zaffuto were sometimes different from what a best friend or a brother was meant to give the other. But then it was all just in Danny’s head.
That had to be it.
"Mine was killed by Gabriel," Danny said to ease the tension.
He always hated talking about his mate because it was never something he wanted to live through, but to clear the thoughts in his head he figured he could try to balance the scales with that.
Maybe it was the easiest way out or maybe it was the only chance that they had to get out of this situation, right?
"You will have your vengeance. You are a Kawai Lord now, and Kaito trusts you. All will be well. But until then, let’s finish up and prepare for the evening while Zaffuto takes a minute," Lord Sadako said.
Danny just nodded before he resumed what he was doing too. Maybe it wasn’t as bad as he had imagined, coming to Kawai. Then again, of the things he had expected, none of them had happened the way he had thought.
If anything, it had all been a resounding success and Daniel Belova was truly thankful for that. No one had prepared him for some cases but then he was also to learn to be a part of the Kawai madhouse.
And so together, the two Lycan lords spent the entire evening coordinating requirements for the party. It was going to be a grand one, no doubt and everything had to be perfect. The workers were coordinated at the Kawai assembly grounds.
The Lycans knew to be there by the time the moon had started showing for the evening. It was a night that they would all remember and it was beautiful to behold.
"Do you think Tamiko will like it?" Danny asked hours later when they were done and everything was set up. Even then, there was no sign of the mad king, or even his equally unhinged son, let alone the Lycan Chief.
It was like the trio had disappeared which was unlike them, but at the same time, their links could still be felt within Kawai. Perhaps it was what life had gotten them now, no?
"He will love it. I’ll go check on my brother. You clean up and I’ll meet you at the podium. Don’t worry, everyone already knows you are a junior Lycan Lord, so they won’t try shit with you," Lord Sadako said.
Danny sighed as he watched the Lycan lord leave. He still felt terrible for King Zaffuto, but even he knew that this was the one thing that he wouldn’t ever be able to fix for the king.
