Chapter 244: You Have No Clue What I Feel

[TAMIKO]

"Your position?" Sanji asked.

He had no idea what Tamiko was talking about because logically it is impossible for his mother to be in his position. Maybe he was dreaming and Sanji needed to be his aid back to the land of the living.

That was the kind of shit that the Furfante hadn’t planned for, but here he was, staring at the young Lycan like Tamiko had so much to hold onto but didn’t know how to do it. Perhaps Sanji would be of help to him, right?

"Yeah... maybe then I would know how to make Kosta happier," Tamiko said and Saji choked on air. He had been expecting that, and even Kosta, who was outside the door, with a masked scent and presence, wasn’t expecting that.

It felt so weird that Tamiko would come this far for someone he was not willing to talk to. Then again, love didn’t have a manual, otherwise, so many hearts wouldn’t have been broken in the name of love, right?

Oh, but they were complicated and needed to find their way to each other; at least that’s what Kosta was desperately hoping for. Maybe he was losing his shit faster than he could admit, but the Lycan Chief was not ready for a life without Tamiko.

"Igor?" Sanji asked, the distaste obvious.

"Don’t fall in love, Sanji. Otherwise, you would be put in weird positions. Look at me... I want to stay angry at him for the longest time, but I can’t even do that for more than half a minute.

"I love him so much it breaks me each day, and I still can’t face him and tell him that all would be okay if he trusts that I can fix us. Anyway, maybe if I see how my mother’s kind heart was put to use in her time, maybe I will be able to create a safe space for my precious Kosta.

"He is my world regardless of what we seem to be going through at the moment," Tamiko said subconsciously, and by the time he realized he had spoken his thoughts out loud, Sanji was staring at him awkwardly.

It was almost like that was the part of the conversation that Sanji was not supposed to hear. But then what use would it be to Tamiko either way? It wasn’t like Kosta didn’t know that Tamiko worshipped the very ground he walked on, right?

"Sorry about that, I didn’t mean to make you unsortable. Let’s forget I subconsciously thought about the Erasthai which pisses me off more than I can even think. No one has ever made me that angry since Gabriel Grealor—

"... and that says a lot," Tamiko added but this time, Sanji just stared with a laugh. He understood the situation and he wasn’t going to make Tamiko feel awkward about being open to him.

Everyone with eyes could see that the two Erasthais were yearning for each other on every level of sanity and insanity.

Even the dead in the afterlife were aware of just how bonded they were, which made it easier for them because no one wanted to imagine being the reason that the craziest duo split.

"You fell in love, Tamiko. There is nothing else to think about," Sanji said softly. He knew that the kid was having a possible mental breakdown, but then that wasn’t why they were here.

They were here for him to relax and right now, it seemed like Tamiko was still thinking about what he couldn’t change and what he didn’t want to happen. It was like he was praying for a different reality.

The one he was used to was luring him and he was not even trying to fight. It was a lost battle and he was even ashamed to embrace it because that was who he was. It is part of his truth and Kosta was everything good for Tamiko.

Oh, but the kid knew it already, but would he admit to his eavesdropping Erasthai then?

"Let’s get back to figuring shit about mother dearest," Tamiko said as they explored the old library. It was a beautiful place and Tamiko knew this was his new hiding spot. He would spend his days here learning about his mother because he couldn’t ask his father about it.

King Zaffuto was a strong man, but he was also an Erasthai who had never gotten over the murder of his Erasthai. That was the kind of slaughter that had shaken him to the core, and years later, he still hadn’t acknowledged the fact that Liana was gone.

Of course, to people, it seemed like he had moved on and accepted reality, especially with his son back and using his Erasthai’s chambers, but the king had never once faced that part of his truth.

It was something he was determined to postpone for as long as he could and it was crazy how accurate it was.

"I have a question," Sanji asked an hour into their exploitation.

"Sure, what is it?" Tamiko responded absentmindedly. He wasn’t sure what the man wanted to ask, but he had a feeling it wouldn’t be helpful in helping him learn about his mother seeing as the books that they had found spoke nothing of the Lycan queen.

It only meant that they would have to stay here longer, but that wasn’t even a concern for Tamiko. He was all right with even living in space if that was the only way to forget about his relationship troubles.

"Lycans... we can have second chances," Sanji said carefully like he knew this was crazy.

"Of course we can. The rule does not prohibit anyone from having another Erasthai," Tamiko said.

"What if... I mean, what if Igor mates with Akila... they have always been close and inseparable for years, even before you came along. You both don’t seem to be doing well, what if he chooses Akila... would you take another Erasthai?" Sanji asked.

Tamiko could have sworn that someone had poured ice-cold water over him. He had never thought of shit like that. He had never even considered that that was a possibility. Hell, he had never paid attention to it all because he had been happy with Kosta.

He had been having the time of his life with his Erasthai.

He wondered if this was ever going to be true for Kosta if his Erasthai would choose someone else. It was a nightmare that Tamiko couldn’t lean into and yet it was so that seemed to be seeking him out.

This was crazy. This was insane and this was just unhinged to the point that even he didn’t know what to say for an entire minute. It was like the world had folded and there wasn’t much that he could do.

The possibility itself was disgusting and a truth that Tamiko knew he would potentially face. Oh, how he hated the way that fate played games with him and his people. What the fuck was he supposed to do with this information then?

What the fuck was Sanji even playing at? Oh, but Tamiko was not in the mood to have seeds of doubt in his mind. He had suffered enough.

"Good for him, if that is what he wants. I can’t be the reason he doesn’t meet his soulmate—" Tamiko spoke right as Kosta showed up and threw Sanji at the farthest wall in the library.
