Chapter 219: Of Bored, Bleeding Love

[THE FREE LANDS]

"You want to trigger the omega’s heat?" Mick asked and Terrian laughed sinisterly in confirmation. This was a risk that they shouldn’t even have considered it would probably end with them dead, dead and dead.

This was the kind of life that they couldn’t afford to be a part of and yet, the thrill of the chase was fucking with their minds and making them believe that they had the right to do what they wanted.

It was dangerous but it was what life had for them. It was what they had chosen and this was the path that doomed most people in the realm. Perhaps there was a way around this that didn’t mean having a lot of them dead, right?

But even then, they had all lost so much in the hands of the barbarians that ran bounties. It wasn’t easy.

"It is the only way I know to make him suffer in the worst of ways. Rumor has it that the keg doesn’t eat his so having an omega for an Erasthai that’s why he was sent to bounties away from Prince Kaito.

"This is our chance, given those same rumors of what Prince Kaito would do for his Erasthai. He would kill his father for his omega, at least that is what credible sources claim.

"If Prince Kaito hears that his omega is in pain because of his father he will certainly fight his father and then the king will lose his precious little son," Terrian explained excitedly.

He was shitty for this and he knew it.

He was fucked up in one too many ways and no matter what could happen to three palms he was making, there was never going to be a way out for him. No one would come to his rescue or that of the team, and they had to keep that in mind.

"What if it doesn’t work out? It is one thing to capture him and fight him at the same time, but it is another to trigger his heat. That will have us all dead by sunrise, is that something you want to risk?" Mick asked and Terrian just stared at him.

He could see there was no fear in the eyes of the people around them. They had struggled together; they had known that their lives would have to end in one way or the other.

This was not just the entire band of rogues that had been betrayed by the Lycans and hurt by the barbarians.

There was always going to be more and that was the longer that Terrian was musing right now, if they were killed, then others would always show up to avenge them.

It was just that easy and while it hurt, it was a truth that they had to embrace in one way or the other. Love and life were not things to be played with. So right now, they had to choose.

"Doesn’t matter. We will have tried and we will have an omega in heat all alone and away from his Erasthai. By the time Prince Kaito comes over to this race, we will either be dead or gone and Konstantin would be left with no one.

"Maybe then the King will leave him for the pathetic creature he was meant to be, and then the chaos will officially begin. We will ruin them regardless of what happens to us. We have to," Terrian insisted.

There was nothing that he wanted more than to see Igor surfer and if he had to do it more than once then he would. Maybe that’s why the people with him were quick to agree to the powdered dust he was holding in his bottle.

It was dangerous, what he intended to do, but then it wasn’t like the war that had many options left for them.

They had tried everything and this was their goal.

"Well then, let us keep going. We are close to the storage units," Mick said and together the wolves ran in the direction of Igor and Akila.

In the distance, the Lycan Chief could hear the ground rumbling and he knew that there was a larger number of people headed their way. It was not as surprising for him given that when Zaffuto had become king, the rogue wolves would always move.

But something about this group of wolves that was coming was different, and he could feel it. He had a terrible feeling about it, only that he wasn’t able to talk about it.

Akila was still mad at him because he had decided to get the bounties and ignore the matter that they had to work through. It was cruel of Konstantin to ignore what he was feeling, but the Lycan Chief had never been one for emotions.

He always focused on helping people, solving shit, and now that he was faced with emotional decisions, there was no telling whether this would be a success for them or if they had to try and work shit out on their own.

"The wolves are not stopping and they are not on the main roads. They are coming here," Akila voiced, confirming what Konstantin already knew. He could tell that the wolves were energetic, but then he wasn’t worried as much.

The Lycan Chief could fight at least a thousand wolves at the same time without having to slow down, he was that good and that was why he was trusted by the King himself. It wasn’t hard to tell that Konstantin was powerful.

However, here and now, with the thoughts he was having, Igor wasn’t sure if he needed to mask up or if he needed to get ready to fight. He had to keep going because no matter what happened, this was a fight to the death.

He wouldn’t stop, no matter what was coming for him.

"Then we wait for them with the simplest of greetings, don’t you think? It would be fun seeing them cave into the trap that they are setting for us. This is going to be exciting," Igor said as he braced himself for impact.

Even then he was still worried about something. He couldn’t quite put a finger on it and he couldn’t exactly voice that to Akila because his friend was mad at him. Perhaps he would talk about it after the battle, right?

After all, they had a long way to go still and they could get shit done once and for all. It wasn’t going to be as complicated because they had done things one too many times and no matter what came their way, they would always find a way around it, no?

"Konstantin!!!" Mick’s voice interrupted Akila before the man could even let out a word in response to Igor. It wasn’t a good show and Akila was pissed. However, he looked at Konstantin, before they subconsciously agreed to step out.

They had completed the bounties for the day anyway, and they were just left with the task of leaving for home. If they had to wade through a hundred and fifty wolves to get to where they needed to be, then this would just be an exercise for them.

It wouldn’t matter that the sun didn’t show or that the moon wasn’t showing this time.

What they needed was their sight and they would be okay.

"Tone down on the noise, Mikhailov. This is not the place for you to be ranting with your useless wolves. What is it this time? Come for a beating, or are you here to attack me for being an omega?

"I must warn you, this might not end well for you," Igor said confidently.

Mick just laughed sinisterly.

It was like he had been waiting for this day his entire life. He had been planning on stopping Terrian from using the ashes and the dust, but seeing the smug look on Igor’s face was all the motivation he needed to step forward towards Konstantin.

It was like there was something that he wanted to do on his own, without any interruption and it was interesting even as the wolves shifted into their human forms — at least those who had been running in their wolf forms.

"Look who’s talking. Do you think you can best us just because you masked your scent? Well, I have something better for you," Mick said and instinctively, Akila stepped right in front of Igor.

It was something he had done without having to think about it and it not only shocked Igor but also the wolves. They had never seen the sacrifices this open and it was amusing to some pint.

"What the fuck are you doing, Akila?" Igor asked, not pleased with the show.

"You need to leave. What is in that bottle is not something you want to deal with now. The stench itself is already sickening, but it is not to you because you know... you are an omega, Konstantin. Please, save their lives.

"Tamiko will wring necks and burn down the werewolf side of the realm if you don’t leave now, please," Akila said and Konstantin stared, his confusion showing, and frustrating.

It was not something that he had been used to and for the first time in his life, he felt like there was real fear in the eyes of Akila. He was truly getting over-protective and that was worrying.

Konstantin was always the one doing the protecting.

"What is it?" Igor asked as he tried to voice his thoughts steadily, but then he could feel the tingles in his body already.

"Do you feel HOT? Igor Konstantin?" Mick asked and Akila cussed.
