Chapter 390: We want a baby brother
A few hours later...
Inside the colossal arena of the Republic’s imperial palace, the air buzzed with anticipation. This was no ordinary arena; it was a marvel of the interstellar age, capable of hosting grand events and mechanized demonstrations. The arena had long been transformed into a battleground for a mech demonstration between the Federation and the Republic.
The stands were filled with nobles, dressed in their finest regalia, accompanied by their families. Each tier of the arena was designed to reflect the status of its occupants, with the highest tier reserved for the most eminent. High above, in the VIP area, the royal families of the Republic and the Federation sat with regal grace. They watched the proceedings through floating screens that projected close-up views and tactical overlays of the arena below.
The council of advisors occupied a prominent section, their presence adding an air of gravitas to the event. The entire spectacle was broadcast live on Star Net, reaching millions across the galaxy.
The arena itself was a sight to behold, with a domed roof that could simulate the vastness of space or project holographic environments. Today, it was a mix of steel and neon, a fitting backdrop for the mechanical titans that would soon clash.
As the demonstration began, the ground shook with the weight of the mechs. The sound of metal on metal reverberated through the arena, mixing with the cheers and gasps of the audience. The Federation and Republic mechs, each a paragon of their respective engineering prowess, moved with surprising agility.
The atmosphere was electric, the air thick with the tension of rivalry and the thrill of technological prowess. Nobles whispered amongst themselves, and children watched wide-eyed, enthralled by the grandeur of the demonstration.
Every manoeuvre, every clash, was recorded and broadcast in real-time, making the audience, both within the arena and across the stars, feel as if they were right in the heart of the action.
Xiang Yu was sitting at the edge of his seat, looking down at the mech fight happening below. His expression was stern, his attention glued to the exciting fight. It seemed that their mech pilot was about to lose.
As expected, the mech with the insignia of the Republic fell to the ground with a loud thud, and the mech with the Federation’s insignia stood victorious. While the mech pilot was celebrating, Sirius said, "It seems the Republic is not as strong as you portray on Star Net."
The imperial lord’s smile stiffened as he glared at this disrespectful prince. Emperor Xandr kicked the back of his son’s chair and said, "Watch your mouth."
Peng Xiu said, "It would be great if we could have a friendly competition between the heirs of both the Federation and the Republic."
Xiang Yu, who was minding his own business, ignored Peng Xiu’s comment. He knew she was setting him up, but he had been itching to beat up Sirius and put him in his place.
Sirius leaned in and said, "Are you scared?" His leg gently swung side to side, brushing against Xiang Yu’s. He appeared relaxed and leisurely while teasing him. Xiang Yu moved his leg away as Peng Xiu turned to him and said, "Brother, you don’t have to fight. You can ask Han Xin to fight for you."
Xiang Yu knew that she was trying to provoke him. Making Han Xin fight for him would make him appear weak and would result in criticism that he was unworthy of the throne. Han Xin stepped forward and bowed, saying, "I would gladly take his highness’ place," his cold gaze moving towards Sirius. He was going to teach Sirius a lesson he would never forget.
Peng Xiu’s face stiffened, but when she saw the jade charm around Han Xin’s neck, her eyes widened. Something in Peng Xiu’s brain snapped. Her eyes turned red as she suppressed the rage brewing inside of her. She wanted to know who had the audacity to give Han Xin a charm that he accepted.
Xiang Yu stopped Han Xin and said, "I can fight my own battles."
Han Xin wanted to tell him not to do this, but he couldn’t say it, not in front of everyone.
"I won’t go easy on you," Sirius said.
Xiang Yu turned to Sirius and said, "Neither will I," his tone menacing.

Xiang Yu sat on the bench in the private room of the arena, his heart racing as he pulled on his mech gear. The fabric felt tight against his skin, amplifying his nerves. Across from him, Han Xin stood there his brow furrowed in frustration. He would have never thought Xiang Yu would be this stubborn.
"Why won’t you let me do this?" Han Xin asked, desperation creeping into his voice. He stopped and crouched down, locking eyes with Xiang Yu.
Xiang Yu zipped up his gear and replied, "You know why."
Han Xin shook his head, his gaze unwavering. "Why does it matter what they think?... Let me fight this battle for you."
Xiang Yu placed a hand on Han Xin’s cheek, warmth spreading through him. "I have to do this," he said softly.
"Why?" Han Xin pressed, searching for answers.
"I have my reasons." With that, Xiang Yu leaned in and kissed Han Xin, their lips meeting in a moment that felt both electric and grounding.
The kiss lingered in Han Xin’s mind, burning away his thoughts like a flame. Just then, the door swung open, and Lian and Mei stood there, grinning like they had stumbled upon a romantic movie scene.
Xiang Yu and Han Xin pulled apart, and Han Xin’s ears flushed with embarrassment. Xiang Yu, however, appeared unfazed, as if this was a normal occurrence.
"I thought your grandfather wouldn’t let you run loose," Xiang Yu said, a teasing glint in his eye.
Mei shrugged, a mischievous smile on her face. "We snuck out while he was dozing off. He was taking his old man nap."
Lian stepped inside, hands on her hips. "What were you two doing?"
Mei smacked Lian playfully. "Don’t embarrass them! They were obviously making out."
Han Xin stood speechless, his ears burning.
"Ohhhh," Lian said, her eyes wide with realization. "Are we going to have a little brother soon?"
Xiang Yu rolled his eyes and grabbed his boot, tossing it at Lian. His aim was off, deliberately so, and Lian giggled as she dodged.
Han Xin’s ears turned a deeper shade of red. What where these two saying? How could Xiang Yu give birth when he was an alpha?
Mei chimed in, "Yes! We want a baby brother, please. Even a little sister is fine, as long as I don’t have to hang out with this little demon day in and day out."
"Who are you calling a little demon?" Lian shot back, her eyes narrowing.
"The little demon," Mei retorted deliberately picking a fight.
"You fuckin—!" Lian exclaimed, lunging at Mei, but Mei was quicker, flipping Lian into a chokehold.
Xiang Yu watched the chaos unfold with a bemused expression before turning back to Han Xin. "Can you get my shoe, please?"
Han Xin complied, picking up the boot and crouching down again. "Aren’t you going to stop them?"
