Chapter 61: Chapter 61 Magic Power Special Training
"You’ve acquired your own Spell?"
In the captain’s cabin, the ship’s main crew members looked at Alka with somewhat envious eyes. Chadite, of course, was an exception, as she also possessed her own Spell.
Alka, seeing their envious gazes, couldn’t help but wave his hand. "Don’t be so quick to envy me. Once you find out what my Spell is, you might not feel the same way."
"What kind of Spell is it?" Jason couldn’t resist asking from the side.
At this, Alka raised his palm, and a gentle Magic Power emerged. This time, it only took five seconds for him to guide the Magic Power. Subsequently, Runes materialized in his mind, and a palm-sized, round Mirror floated above his hand.
Everyone looked at the two-sided Mirror on his palm, then turned back to Alka.
"And then?"
"That’s it. I just create the Mirror I want."
The group chuckled awkwardly.
Andre thought for a moment before speaking. "Well, it’s quite remarkable that you could comprehend a fitting Spell on your first contact with a Treasure."
"Yes, yes! The Spell might seem strange to outsiders, but it should be very suitable for you right now," Chadite added encouragingly from the side, clenching her fist.
Hearing their comforting words, Alka smiled. "Don’t worry, this Spell really does suit me."
Bobby, however, was a bit curious. With his researcher-like mindset, he had his own perspective. He carefully examined the Mirror in Alka’s hand. "Spells one comprehends on their own are generally not weak, so don’t be too discouraged. You just haven’t tapped into its full potential yet."
Hearing this reassurance, Alka nodded. He was, in fact, quite satisfied with the Spell.
At this point, Andre knocked on the desk before him. He then looked at Alka and Jason, saying, "Since you two are more or less familiarized, it’s time for more advanced training."
"First, get familiar with your Magic Power. The requirement is to be able to make your Magic Power reach any part of your body within one second."
"As for learning Spells, pick the ones you like. See if any are compatible. After all, the choices are limited. If you also have unique Spells of your own, you can focus on learning those too."
Then, he looked at Bobby and Chadite. "I’ll leave these two training aspects to you two, respectively."
After Andre finished speaking, Alka and Jason were dragged off by Bobby and Chadite.
Chadite, leading the way, said, "We’re not far from Holy Armor Island; we should arrive in about three or four days. During this time, you must be able to guide your Magic Power to any desired spot within two seconds."
Bobby went straight to the bookshelf in Andre’s captain’s cabin and took out two books: "Spell Collection," Volumes One and Two. He handed one to each of them. "You two can share and read these. Get acquainted with the Spells and see if anything interests you."
Once their study arrangements were made, and since it was already close to noon, they began their Magic Power control training immediately.
Chadite had retrieved a large pile of patch-like items from Bobby, each marked with a number. Then, Alka and Jason bared their upper bodies, and these patches were stuck all over them.
"When I call out a number, you must conduct your Magic Power to the correspondingly numbered spot on your body. If you’re slow, HMPH!" Chadite stood before them, a wicked grin on her face.
"Close your eyes and get ready to start."
They had barely closed their eyes when Chadite shouted, "Number 3!"
The number 3 patch was on the back of their right hands. Alka immediately controlled the Magic Power within him, conducting it toward that location.
"Too slow!"
As Chadite’s words fell, a stinging sensation shot from the number 3 patch on the back of his hand.
Alka hissed.
"Get ready! Next one, immediately."
"Number 6!"
"Too slow!"
However, this time only Jason was too slow. Alka, on the other hand, quickly conducted his Magic Power; the number 6 patch on him glowed faintly, indicating he had succeeded.
"AH!" Jason cried out in pain.
Hearing this, Alka couldn’t help but turn to look at him, a schadenfreude smile playing on his lips.
"Number 7!" Chadite’s voice suddenly rang out.
Alka hurried to surge his Magic Power over; however, his speed was clearly insufficient.
"Too slow!"
The stinging sensation came once again.
Although Jason still hadn’t succeeded this time, he turned and smiled at Alka.
Serves you right, kid.
"Number 11!"
"Too slow!"
"AH!"
As dusk approached, the sun had completely sunk below the horizon. The two lay exhausted on the deck. Their bodies, red like boiled shrimp, emitted faint steam. There were no marks on their skin where the patches had been removed; the patches only caused a sensation similar to pain.
It wasn’t without reward, though. By the end, Alka could conduct his Magic Power to any part of his body within four seconds. The thrill of this achievement was so captivating that Alka felt completely absorbed by it.
"Rest up, then go down for dinner. Uncle Matt will prepare specially customized meals for you," Chadite said, squatting beside Alka and smiling at them. Her smile remained as captivating as ever.
Through their interactions during this time, Alka had come to realize that Uncle Matt’s status on the ship was akin to that of a main crew member. He could process and create all sorts of targeted meals. Depending on the ingredients, and with Vanessa’s help, he could prepare delicious food that helped them condition their bodies and recover.
After dinner, Alka returned to his room.
「Night had fallen.」
By the light of the lantern in his room, Alka sank heavily onto the edge of his bed, his gaze shifting to the Magic Mirror on the nightstand. He couldn’t help but reach out and pick it up.
Should I rescue it? Alka wondered. Previously, he certainly hadn’t wanted to. But his survival on the island was entirely thanks to the Magic Mirror’s reminder in his dream. If not for that reminder, Alka would have certainly died in Nivek’s attack.
Bathed in the moonlight filtering through the window, the back of the Magic Mirror shimmered faintly. Alka placed the Magic Mirror back on the nightstand and lay down on the bed to rest.
I’ll give it more thought.
Gradually, as sleepiness overcame him, he closed his eyes.
Suddenly, Alka’s eyes snapped open. He sat up immediately, feeling the gentle rocking of the ship as it sailed across the sea. Pale moonlight streamed into the room through the window.
Alka stiffly turned his head. He saw a figure sitting at the desk by the window, flipping through the books there, seemingly reading.
Then, she turned her head and looked at the now-awake Alka.
"You’re awake."
