Chapter 59: Chapter 59 Touch

However, at this very moment, the seawater at the cave entrance suddenly began to churn, just like boiling water. With bubbling sounds, the seawater suddenly leaped upward. A wall of water completely blocked the cave entrance, and some evenly distributed, unknown Spells appeared on the walls inside the cave.

Seeing this situation, Andre furrowed his brows but did not adopt a vigilant posture.

"Andre, come up."

Hearing the voice from above, Andre grabbed Alka with one hand and Jason with the other, and jumped straight up, landing on the deck of the ship.

After steadying himself on the deck, Alka looked up. Aside from its paint, the interior of this ship was not much different from other vessels. However, it likely also had automatic devices imbued with Spells, as there were no other people on the deck except for three Church members dressed in simple gray robes. These three Church members wore hoods and stood in a row with their hands crossed.

Andre saw them. "What’s going on? Why suddenly seal this place?"

The Church member standing in the middle slightly raised his head and said, "Because they will conduct the ’touch’ on the ship."

"On the ship? Here?" Andre’s voice was noticeably surprised. Then he quickly asked, "Isn’t it too risky to bring the [Treasure] here?" He had actually wanted to ask if this wasn’t making too much of a fuss.

"Archbishop Elan has returned to the embrace of the Mother Deity. Too many believers are gathering in the Great Cathedral for mourning; it is not suitable for you to go now."

Andre nodded, seemingly in understanding. But he still didn’t understand why a [Treasure] like this needed to be brought out. He still thought it was making too much of a fuss. If it were truly inconvenient, they wouldn’t have minded waiting a bit longer.

The Church member in the middle then said, "Alright, time is tight. Let them quickly perform the touching ceremony, shall we?"

Upon hearing this, Andre no longer hesitated.

The two Church members standing on either side, who had been silent, suddenly and slowly stretched out their hands. A faint light emerged from their outstretched hands. One light was a peculiar, transparent glow, like a focused beam of light. The other was a soft, milky-white light akin to Holy Light.

Appearing in the transparent glow on the left was a mask, seemingly made from a Mirror Surface, its face clearly reflecting the surrounding scene. Appearing in the milky-white glow on the right was a circlet woven from golden wheat ears, very plain.

"You two may choose. Choose the [Treasure] you wish to touch."

Upon hearing this, both Alka and Jason tensed up. The echoing pound of their wildly beating hearts constantly filled their ears.

Andre paused slightly, then raised his hands and gently patted both of them, signaling them. "If you don’t know how to choose, just stand in the middle, close your eyes, and walk forward, following your feelings," Andre said. He hadn’t explained this earlier because he hadn’t expected them to actually have a choice.

Upon hearing this, the two turned to look at each other, then simultaneously closed their eyes and moved forward.

When Alka closed his eyes, he didn’t feel he had lost his sense of direction, perhaps due to the Ring. Nor did he experience any other particular sensations. He walked straight ahead.

Suddenly, he sensed someone in front of him and opened his eyes. He was already standing before the Mirror Mask.

I definitely walked straight, so how did I inexplicably end up on the left?

He looked at the hooded Church member, whose face was obscured, and the Mirror Mask the member slowly held, floating before him. The mask’s surface, like a Mirror, reflected Alka’s own face. He saw his current appearance, yet it was as if he also glimpsed a face from deep within his memories—clear, yet vague.

"Touch," the voice of the Church member sounded beside him.

Alka swallowed. He slowly stretched out his hands and gently touched the Mirror Surface of the mask.

With a tremor, Alka felt it—felt his insides, his limbs, his heart, his brain, every part of his body begin to squirm. It was as if all the blood vessels within him had sprung to life, twitching autonomously. His blood also seemed to flow faster. Something new had appeared inside him.

A deep, icy sensation shot straight to Alka’s brain, causing him, though his eyes were still closed, to involuntarily experience a wave of vertigo. Although he tried to maintain control over his body, he started to feel dazed, his awareness of his surroundings blurring. His physical sensations grew dull.

A rectangular frame appeared in his mind, and at its center was a slender, I-shaped character. It emitted a faint, transparent light, much like the Mirror Mask itself. Then, it faded and vanished from his mind.

At that moment, the dazed feeling disappeared, and Alka regained control of his body.

He could already feel something new starting to flow inside him. This presence seemed to be controllable, just like his own limbs. Alka tried to control it, but he was too unaccustomed to it, too stiff. Directing it felt like an infant attempting to stand and walk steadily—swaying unsteadily.

Ultimately, Alka only managed to keep this new force from surging wildly within him, confining it to the area where it had originated.

Once he had stabilized the situation within his body, Alka opened his eyes.

The Mirror Mask that had been in front of him was long gone, and the Church member holding it had vanished as well. Not far away, only Andre and the Church member who had spoken from the center remained, watching the two boys.

To his right, Jason also had his eyes tightly shut. A faint, milky-white light hovered over his body.

Seeing Alka awake, Andre nodded at him. At that moment, the light on Jason’s body also receded and disappeared. As the light vanished, Jason opened his eyes.

Seeing both had awakened, Andre turned to the remaining Church member, nodded a signal, and then walked over to Alka and Jason. Without giving them a chance to speak, he grabbed them by their collars and jumped off the ship.

The moment they left the ship, the wall of water that had sealed the cave entrance began to collapse, its waters falling back into the sea. The Runes that had covered the surrounding cave walls disappeared. The golden ship slowly retreated from the cave.

Only after watching the ship depart did Andre turn to look at the two boys. At that moment, both Alka and Jason appeared dazed. They weren’t paying any attention to the outside world, still immersed in comprehending their newly acquired powers. They were experiencing the Magic Power within them, a power they could now control, much like young boys who had just received new toys.
