Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Devil Training
"Come on, little brother, lie down on the bed."
Vanessa blinked her violet eyes, staring at Alka with a smile.
Standing beside them, Alka sighed helplessly at the nickname.
He turned his head to stare at the ship’s physician.
They had first met when she was being pursued; Vanessa was veiled then, showing only her eyes.
Now, he observed her carefully.
A mature woman with a slightly seductive face and a pair of pale violet eyes, a tiny black mole accenting the fair skin below her lips, adding a hint of color to her alluring aura.
Her exquisite figure was now cloaked in a white coat, but even the loose garment couldn’t hide the remarkable curve of her bust.
"I think you could use another name. How about Alka? I wouldn’t mind Little Alka either."
From the moment they met, Alka felt this woman had something against him.
But thinking about his past actions, he had no choice but to endure it. How was I supposed to know she was one of us back then? he mused.
Women... alas.
"Not ’little brother’? Have you already become an adult then?"
Vanessa giggled seductively, reaching out to tap Alka’s chest.
"Alright, little brother, hurry up, take off your clothes, and lie on the bed."
Alka sighed again, backed away, and removed his cotton short shirt, revealing a lean, toned upper body.
He lay down on the nearby wooden bed, feeling Vanessa’s wanton and unabashed gaze.
"A bit too slender, you know. You need proper training. Even Jason looks more robust than you."
Hearing this, Jason, who was lying nearby, turned his head and grinned at Alka.
"TSK." Alka clicked his tongue disdainfully at Jason’s smile.
"Get ready, here it comes," Vanessa said, waving her hands. Strands of pale green thread extended from them.
Threads from one hand stretched towards Alka, while threads from her other hand extended to Jason.
The tips of the threads suddenly sharpened, transforming into needle-like points.
One after another, they found their marks on their bodies and pierced through.
Alka furrowed his brow slightly. He felt no pain, only a somewhat uncomfortable itchiness.
A faint green glow began to flow into their bodies along the threads.
They could feel something cool entering their bodies through the threads.
Then, a thin layer of transparent green liquid seeped from Alka’s pores, gradually covering his upper body.
These controlled threads were, in fact, Vanessa’s specialty: a highly adaptable spell called [Silk Warp].
Its general ability, it seemed, was to twist substances into threads for manipulation.
Vanessa had explained all this herself, though Alka didn’t quite grasp the specifics. This spell wasn’t one she had developed herself but an improvement made by her predecessors; however, it still had a relatively high learning curve.
Apparently, Bobby can use it too, Alka recalled, but compared to Vanessa, his technique is like a baby’s.
Before long, the transparent green liquid vanished from their bodies.
Vanessa dispersed the threads, clapped her hands, and said, "Alright, it’s done."
Hearing this, the two of them got up and dressed again.
What they were doing now was what Andre had spoken of before: having Chadite and Vanessa help them prepare for the ’contact’ ahead. This was merely the beginning.
The two left the medical bay and went out onto the deck.
Chadite sat near the ship’s edge, her legs dangling and swinging slightly over the side.
She turned her head, smiled at them, and said, "All done? Good. Now it’s my turn to train you."
As she spoke, a silver light appeared at her feet, and her figure vanished in an instant.
"Are you ready?" Chadite’s joyful voice came from behind them.
"Wait, hold on!" Jason shouted, suddenly struck by a bad premonition.
But his words had barely left his lips when Chadite’s right leg, glowing with silver light, whipped around and struck him squarely in the back.
"AHHH!" Jason screamed as he flew off the ship like a cannonball.
Witnessing this, Alka unhesitatingly rolled forward, took a couple of steps, and leaped off the ship himself.
His voice echoed back, "No need to help, I can manage on my own," followed by the sound of a splash.
Watching Alka’s actions, Chadite couldn’t help but smile. She took two quick bounces and stood at the ship’s railing, looking down.
"Your task is to swim in the ocean and try to keep up with the ship. When you’re about to drown, I’ll come and rescue you."
Hearing this, Alka and Jason, now in the water, reluctantly began to swim.
Luckily, this was an ocean world. Everyone knew how to swim; everyone possessed decent swimming skills.
But even with the best swimming skills, endurance is limited.
Even with the ship deliberately slowing down, the two barely managed to last ten minutes before gradually falling behind.
They watched as the ship slowly pulled away, leaving them further and further behind.
"Go on! Keep going!"
Chadite was now at the ship’s stern, waving her hands and jumping up and down as she cheered.
But the playful tone in her cheers betrayed her true thoughts. She was clearly enjoying the spectacle.
"I’m feeling a bit hot!" Alka shouted to Jason, who was swimming beside him.
"Me too."
Both felt their bodies heating up, and soon, a resurgence of energy followed.
They accelerated, swimming forward with renewed vigor.
Though they couldn’t catch up to the ship, they could at least keep it distantly in sight.
「Finally.」
Another half hour passed. The sensation of heat faded.
Intense exhaustion washed over them.
Their hands and feet began to twitch. Swimming forward was impossible; even staying afloat became a luxury.
Survival instincts drove them to struggle frantically at the water’s surface.
A chill continuously flowed from the ring on Alka’s finger, stimulating his brain, forcing him into a state of calm despite the mortal danger. He desperately tried to control his limbs.
His mind was calm, yet he couldn’t control his body at all, feeling the ocean swallow him.
The waves rolled him around. He was unable to breathe.
The instinct to survive clashed with the fear of death, shattering his composure.
Panic surged through him once again.
Jason, having lost his senses much earlier, had already sunk beneath the waves.
Suddenly, as Alka sank into the pitch-black depths, he felt something lift him.
Just like that, both he and Jason were pulled from the water.
HUFF! HUFF!
It was Sang Kaka who dragged them both out, hauling them onto the deck.
COUGH! COUGH! GURGLE!
Jason knelt, sprawled on the deck, violently coughing and vomiting seawater.
Alka, however, appeared slightly less bedraggled. He had held his breath until the very last moment.
"HEH HEH, take a break. We’ll continue in the afternoon!" Chadite said, sitting beside them with her legs drawn up, chuckling at their pitiful state.
