Chapter 38: Establishing Contact
Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Establishing Contact
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
The sound of knocking came from outside the door.
Then a young voice followed, "Sir, do you need to go down for a meal?"
"I’m a bit tired. Just leave it outside the door," Alka replied.
"Alright."
As the footsteps faded away, Alka turned his head back towards the window, looking at the situation outside.
So, what should I do now? Do they know about the Blue Fist and me?
Alka was internally conflicted.
He had no choice. This change had come too suddenly.
He had no preparation at all, nor had he ever considered this possibility. Now, he had no way to contact Andre and the others.
Thinking of this, although Alka’s eyes were looking out the window, his attention was entirely focused on contemplating what to do next.
DING! DING! DING!
A faint sound suddenly came from the inner pocket of his coat, pulling Alka from his deep thoughts back to reality.
Reaching into the inner pocket, he took out a thin Crystal Plate.
The Crystal Plate Chadite gave me?
The vibration and the very faint sound emanated from this Crystal Plate.
Looking at the vibrating Crystal Plate.
What does this mean? What’s its purpose?
Alka was completely puzzled, not knowing what the vibration indicated.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
The sudden knocking startled Alka, and he quickly stuffed the Crystal Plate back into his pocket.
"Sir, your dinner has been delivered."
"Mmm, thank you. Just leave it at the door."
"It is my honor to serve you. Please do not hesitate to call on us if you require anything."
Once the voice faded, he heard footsteps receding.
Just then, a faint tapping sound came from behind him.
Alka immediately rolled forward, spun around, and pulled a handgun from his pocket.
No one here? What was that sound?
He quickly stood up, looking towards the source of the sound. Was something tapping on a corner of the window?
At that moment, the Crystal Plate in his pocket and the tapping from outside the window began to resonate, falling into the same rhythm.
Is it Andre and the others? Alka wondered as he walked over. He spotted a spider tapping on the window with its foreleg.
However, this spider was bronze-colored, its head adorned with four small, ruby-like stones.
What kind of high-tech gadget is this?
He reached out and opened the window.
The spider used all eight legs to quickly crawl inside, Alka’s gun remaining trained on it.
Then, a faint sound came from the spider’s back. Listening closely, he realized it sounded like a human voice.
Alka reached out. The mechanical spider didn’t react, allowing him to lift it carefully. It had some weight but was surprisingly light for its appearance.
He slowly brought it close to his ear. "Alka? Alka? Can you hear me?" A very faint, ethereal voice, recognizably female, came from within the spider.
It must be Chadite. Who would’ve thought this thing was a phone?
He replied, "I can hear you."
"Phew, I finally found you. How are you doing right now?"
"I’m fine. I’m hiding," Alka replied.
"That’s good! Don’t speak. Listen to me first."
"The Shark Eaters have somehow colluded with the Governor of Meister Island. They’ve issued a warrant to drive us off the Island."
"They’re just a bunch of trash who only use dirty tricks. But for now, we’re all safe. The warrant is limited to Meister. They don’t have the authority to issue one for the entire sea region."
"Where are you now? We’ll come get you."
Hearing Chadite’s words, some of Alka’s anxieties finally eased. Suddenly thinking of something, he asked, "Have I been exposed? Do they know someone like me exists?"
"Probably not. The only ones who saw you were some villagers. The Shark Eaters have no idea someone like you exists. Besides, they probably think all of us have already retreated from the Island."
"Not exposed," Alka whispered to himself. This is an opportunity.
After a brief thought, Alka decided. "I’ve already discovered clues to the Treasure Vault’s specific location. I just need some time for reconnaissance."
"Really?" a joyful voice came from the other side. "But it’s too dangerous. You just joined us, and you’re not even a Toucher yet."
Hearing this, Alka laughed. "No worries. I haven’t been exposed, right?"
The voice on the other side pondered for a moment. "Alright then. We’ll create some diversions along the coast to draw the enemy’s attention. You search for clues in the city. If you encounter danger, crush the Crystal Plate, and we’ll rush over to rescue you immediately."
Hearing this, Alka immediately said, "No problem. But if I find clues, how do I contact you?"
"Keep the spider with you. It still has some Energy left. Tapping its four Gemstones will allow you to communicate with us."
"Alright, no problem. Wait for my good news."
"Be careful. It’s not worth risking your life for a bit of information."
"Don’t worry. I know the difference between wealth and my life."
After she finished speaking, the four Gemstones on the spider dimmed, as if transforming from red rubies to gray stones.
Alka picked up the spider, examining it from all angles.
Such a precise mechanical structure. So interesting.
Looking at the device, Alka became increasingly interested in Extraordinary power. Since he hadn’t been exposed... now was the time to properly plan his next steps.
Alka sat at the table, looking at the map spread out before him. This map was much rougher compared to the one he had received from Chadite yesterday. Alka had hand-drawn this copy himself last night, so it wasn’t particularly detailed, but it still served its purpose.
I’ll just leak the information tomorrow night and let them search for the Treasure Vault. Then they’ll find a key piece missing. At that point, thanks to my discoveries in the city, they’ll have a clue to another Treasure Vault... Hmm... that’s a bit crude. I need a more logical plan.
After refining his thoughts, Alka nodded, solidifying his plan. Then he looked towards the center of the map, at the blue dot of light in the city.
I still have time to find this treasure.
The location of this blue dot of light... Alka had already visited it during the day and had a general idea of what this blue dot of light represented.
He reached out and tapped it on the map.
[Haunted Villa]
[Difficulty: For the Bold]
[Fame: 631]
[Treasure Information: Is there really a ghost in the Haunted Villa?]
This was the Magic Treasure he had seen yesterday, the one without specific information.
RUMBLE...
Hungry.
