Chapter 382: Chapter 382 Regretting Furniture Store (1)_1
Li Feng’e saw her loosen her grip but still didn’t feel satisfied, so she fiercely pulled again before finally letting go of the woman’s hair. While straightening her own disheveled hair, she sneered, "Say what? Don’t you know?"
Seeing Lady Ma’s bewildered and slightly fearful expression, Li Feng’e felt utterly content. She curved her lips into a smile and said, "That’s true. With such a shameful matter, how could your man tell you? Ah, but I do pity my nephew, not even twenty years old, never had a taste of what a woman feels like, only to be... tsk tsk, mangled by a bunch of foul, filthy bastards. No wonder he became so foolish and simpleminded, anyone would be unable to bear it!"
Foul and filthy bastards, violated, not even twenty years old.
Lady Ma’s ears rang with these unbearable words, and her mind involuntarily started to conjure up images of Yong Le in prison, surrounded by seven or eight dirty, stinking men, some brutally pinning his arms, others savagely pulling at his injured left leg, and others still, performing unspeakable acts upon his body.
Lady Ma let out a heart-wrenching scream, her eyes almost bursting with horror, as she rushed back into the room. She embraced her young son who had just fallen asleep on the kang bed and burst into anguished tears.
Li Feng’e coldly curled her lips, casting a disdainful glance at the grubby trousers on the ground. She picked up one of her sons and meticulously cleaned the dirt from his face before holding him and entering her own room.
In the kitchen corner, Lady Yang was shocked as she pondered the conversation between the two daughters-in-law, her heart twinging with pain. Lin Yongle was someone she had cherished and raised from a young age. She had never imagined he would suffer such an ordeal.
But as much as her heart ached, Lady Yang no longer had the strength to care for others. She shakily took half a bowl of meat dish and half a steamed cornbread bun from the kitchen stove, leftovers from yesterday’s lunch that she had secretly hidden away. If the daughters-in-law knew she was hiding food for the old man, they would probably make her eat cold buns again.
Lin Jianling lay collapsed on the kang bed, his usually plump cheeks now hollowed out from lack of food.
Lady Yang broke the half bun into pieces and soaked it in the meat dish, feeding it to him bit by bit. Though it was called a meat dish, there was not a single piece of meat in it, all cabbage. The Lin family hadn’t tasted meat in half a month, with the third son not working and all of Boss Lin’s silver being spent on Lin Yongle’s medical treatment, there was barely enough food at home.
Though Lin Jianling had suffered a stroke, his mind was clear. He ate only two bites before he stopped. With a glance, he signaled Lady Yang. Having been with him all her life, she understood the meaning behind his eyes.
With a forced smile, Lady Yang picked up the spoon again to feed him, "I’ve already eaten. This is what I saved for you."
Lin Jianling of course didn’t believe her, but he couldn’t bear to see his wife upset and, with tears streaming down his face, he swallowed the cornbread. He hadn’t eaten in two days, but he couldn’t die—if he lived, at least Lady Yang would have some comfort. If he died, Lady Yang probably wouldn’t last much longer.
Suddenly, Lin Jianling’s thoughts turned to Lin Jiaxin, the son who had always been filial but whom he had chased out of the house. The old village chief was right; he was such a fool for not cherishing such a good son.
Suddenly, the jingling sound caught his ears. As Lady Yang paused in her feeding, and her husband looked at her with confusion, she managed a weak smile, "It’s from the second son’s family. They apparently built a new house, and today they are having a warming ceremony."
Lin Jianling choked on his meal, tears flowing even more, thinking to himself—look, if they hadn’t driven their second son away, perhaps they too would be enjoying the comfort of a new house by now.
