Chapter 1297: 173. Dream World (Second Update)

Lin Jiaxin and his family were also visiting Lin Yuan’s Dong Tian for the first time, and they couldn’t contain their excitement at the sight of the exotic items that were even more unusual than those in Zhuma Town. Everyone hurried to explore the places they liked the most.

Xiao Linshuang, always the glutton, had dashed into a room and disappeared from sight as soon as Lin Yuan had suggested everyone check things out for themselves.

Fortunately, Xiao Linshuang carried a badge that Lin Yuan had given her in advance. It was a shiny pentagonal shape embroidered with a red Lin character. Not just Xiao Linshuang, but practically every member of the Lin family wore such a badge. Anyone wearing this badge was recognized as one of Lin Yuan’s family members and could eat and drink wherever they liked without having to pay.

This was the "Green Pass" Lin Yuan had thought up for her family, so even if the people of Dong Tian didn’t recognize them, they wouldn’t face any difficulties.

Compared to the freedom of the Lin family members, Lady Jiang and Chen Leyao naturally didn’t have such privileges. As soon as Lin Yuan gave the signal, Chen Leyao was eager to check out the specialty restaurant. Lady Jiang, however, held herself aloof, regardless of her daughter’s eagerness, only nodding slightly in a lukewarm manner, walking neither fast nor slow.

But when she followed her daughter into the restaurant within the specialty venue, Lady Jiang’s composure finally faltered.

Just stepping in, Lady Jiang was struck by the exotic decor before her—the doors, black and white in color, weren’t of the swinging type but slid left and right. The entire venue featured a large wooden platform, and theoretically, visitors should take off their shoes to dine, but due to cultural norms, shoes were left on.

The woman hosting them was also very strange. The clothes wrapped around her in an unusual way, and there was even a pot strapped to her back, which was oddly square and covered in cloth.

Chen Leyao blinked and whispered to Lady Jiang, "Mother, are these people insane?"

Lady Jiang thought the same, but reason told her that couldn’t be possible. Remembering Lin Yuan’s mysteriously smiling face, she coughed and said, "This must be one of Miss Lin’s creative ideas, let’s not guess anymore. Let’s go taste their food."

The mother-daughter exchanged a glance and followed the woman with the "pot" on her back into a private room.

The decor of the private room was similar to the outside, dominated by black and white tones. The table and chairs were very low, the seats not chairs with legs but rather cushions similar to those used in temples for offering incense.

They pondered how to sit on those cushions, looking baffled.

The woman, apparently trained ahead, knew how to instruct the guests to sit down gracefully without making them feel taught.

"Madam and Miss, here is our restaurant’s menu. Just call me after you make your choices," the waitress said, kneeling on the cushions, placing her hands crossed on her knees, bowing, and then she scurried out.

It was then that Lady Jiang and her daughter noticed not just the woman’s clothes and headdress were strange, but even the shoes she wore were unusual. They were wooden clogs, with something like a string separating her big toe from the other toes. Although the waitress wore socks, it was clear that her big toe was separated.

While Chen Leyao marveled, the toes hidden in her embroidered shoes seemed to move on their own accord, but she found trying to mimic the posture tiring and awkward!

Following the waitress’s example, they kneeled on the cushions, picked up the menu she had left, and couldn’t help but read it out loud.

"Fruit sushi..." Chen Leyao frowned, "What is sushi?"

Caught off guard, Lady Jiang’s fingers twitched uneasily, "Perhaps it’s the name of a dish, keep reading."

Nodding, Chen Leyao continued, "Ham sushi, shredded meat sushi, mixed vegetable sushi—oh my, why is it all sushi?"

Flipping through the menu, which spanned two pages, Chen Leyao felt irritated. She had no idea what sushi was, so how was she supposed to order?

But as she flipped towards the back, she realized that the menu didn’t only list sushi.
