Chapter 1099: 030 Glaze (second update)_2

"What is this!"

Upon seeing Lin Yuan pounce on an object like a starving wolf upon a lamb, Xia Zheng was suddenly taken aback, but then, seeing the object, he smiled and reassured her, "Don’t rush, don’t rush, no one is competing with you for it. You like this? Tsk tsk, this thing isn’t worth much, you know. I heard there’s plenty of this in the Western Region! Why not try this crystal?"

"No no, I don’t want crystal. I just want this!"

Lin Yuan excitedly picked up the palm-sized transparent object, a voice in her heart shouting: My God, glaze!

It was indeed like getting a pillow when feeling sleepy. She had just thought of an imaginative gift for Tian Hui yesterday, and today she had stumbled upon her dream object.

Indeed, Lin Yuan wanted to give a mirror, and currently, the mirrors used here were all made of bronze. Even the smoothest and clearest polished bronze mirrors would distort reflections, making them very unclear.

That’s why Lin Yuan had set her sights on glaze, but she had wandered around the Capital city without finding any glaze for sale, or even anything similar to it.

She had just about given up hope when, to her surprise, she found it at Xia Zheng’s place—indeed, no effort was needed after tirelessly searching!

"This glaze, do you have more of it?" Lin Yuan asked excitedly, clutching the small piece of glaze tightly.

This bit of glaze certainly wasn’t enough to make a mirror, especially since it had been shaped into a small animal, making it even less.

She had thought that this thing, which Xia Zheng had described as worthless, would be plentiful; however, his reply left her deeply disappointed.

"Here, just the bit you have in your hand!"

Lin Yuan could almost hear her excited heart shattering into eighteen pieces on the floor. Just this little bit?!

"Didn’t you say this thing wasn’t valuable? Why, why didn’t you buy more?" Lin Yuan’s voice was likely trembling, "Wrong, wrong, is this thing only available in the Western Region? Come on, let’s go buy some!"

Saying this, Lin Yuan was about to drag Xia Zheng outside.

Watching Lin Yuan’s almost bewitched demeanor, Xia Zheng became somewhat scared. He pulled back the flushed-faced Lin Yuan and touched her forehead with his hand, muttering to himself, "Not feverish, but why did she suddenly act like she’s ill?"

Hearing Xia Zheng’s muttering, Lin Yuan felt both annoyed and amused. She removed his hand from her forehead and scolded, "Quit your nonsense. I’m talking serious business. How much glaze can you really get? I really need this."

Fearing that Xia Zheng still thought she was joking and wasn’t taking the matter of the glaze seriously, Lin Yuan intentionally squinted her eyes and started sweet-talking, "I must tell you, there are many things that can be made with this glaze. If you could get a large quantity of this, let alone the entire Dayong, just in the Capital city alone, you could make a fortune."

On hearing the possibility of making money, Xia Zheng’s eyes indeed lit up, but they soon dimmed again, he said helplessly, "As much as the glaze can make money, there’s no way around it. This stuff is only available in the Western Region. If it were a few years ago, it would have been easier, but recently, due to the tense relations between Xiliang Country nestled between us and the Western Region, trade has stopped. So getting a large quantity of glaze is impossible."

Impossible? Then the mirror she wanted to gift to Tian Hui was also doomed?

"However, although I can’t get glaze in large quantities, if you just want a little bit, I’ll still try my best to manage it." Not wanting Lin Yuan to be disappointed over a piece of glaze, Xia Zheng thought for a moment and then confidently agreed.

Lin Yuan felt a warmth in her heart. She abandoned the thought she had initially planned to share after the mirror was made, and whispered a few words into his ear. Indeed, she saw Xia Zheng’s eyes brighten incredulously, looking at her as if he somewhat couldn’t believe it.

Lin Yuan pursed her lips in a smile, patted his shoulder, and chuckled, "If someday you can see your real face, don’t get scared, okay!"

With the current state of bronze mirrors, Lin Yuan could imagine what the reactions would be like when people saw their true faces after her mirror was created.

"It must be very interesting."

Holding a small piece of Glaze in her hand, Lin Yuan chuckled secretly while thinking, which completely piqued Xia Zheng’s curiosity.

"Here, isn’t this a piece perfect for a trial? Take it and experiment. Don’t worry, I’m giving this Glaze to you for free, no Silver required. But,"

Before he could finish, Lin Yuan interrupted with a laugh, "But you want to be the first to use it once it’s ready, right?"

Xia Zheng chuckled and nodded repeatedly.

Unexpectedly, Lin Yuan stuffed the Glaze back into his arms, shaking her head in refusal.

Xia Zheng was taken aback. The girl had just been unable to part with the Glaze, so why did she suddenly refuse it?

Lin Yuan giggled and pointed at the Glaze beast, saying, "Don’t overthink it. It’s not that I don’t want to do it for you, but this Glaze is too small and has been shaped into a little beast. It’s no longer flat. Even if I managed to make it, it wouldn’t work like a mirror. So, to give you a flawless reflection, I’d rather wait until your Glaze arrives before I start."

Upon her explanation, Xia Zheng realized what was going on, but he still reiterated several times that the first piece made had to be for his use only.

With this matter of the Glaze weighing on her mind, Lin Yuan had lost interest in looking at other displays. Feeling bored, and realizing it was almost noon, she hurried outside.

Xia Zheng was startled: "Where are you going?"

"To the kitchen. I brought some food, and I promised to cook something delicious for the princess," Lin Yuan said hurriedly as she lifted the curtain and rushed out, only to bump straight into Qiu Ju, who had been waiting outside.

Qiu Ju greeted her with a smile and stopped her: "The princess guessed you’d head to the kitchen and asked me to stop you. It’s your first time at the General Mansion; how could we let you tire yourself? You’d better have a nice chat in the room with the young master."

As it turned out, Princess Anle had anticipated Lin Yuan’s visit to the kitchen. Stopped by Qiu Ju, Xia Zheng came from inside the house and took Lin Yuan’s hand, leading her back inside: "How can we let you cook? From now on, you are forbidden to cook casually. If you really feel the urge, make food only for me, others can’t have your cooking."

Watching how affectionately Xia Zheng and Lin Yuan were behaving, Qiu Ju laughed softly and turned to report back to Princess Anle. It seemed that after dealing with the elder young master’s affair, it was time to address the second young master’s.

Although the chef at the General Mansion was not as skilled as Lin Yuan, he still served the princess and the Great General, so his cooking was by no means poor.

However, Xia Zheng’s palate had been spoiled by Lin Yuan’s culinary skills, finding even the meals he had eaten for over a decade bland and tasteless. During lunch, he was fussy and complained incessantly, to the point even Princess Anle couldn’t stand it anymore.

"Enough, enough; stop being picky. I think you should go and stay locked up in the ancestral hall, a few days of hunger might cure your pickiness."

While she said this, she still served him his favorite dishes.

Xia Zheng raised an eyebrow; he was quite pleased with the idea of being locked in the ancestral hall, especially since there was a "Dog Hole" for passing meals. Perhaps worried about him, Lin Yuan would make him delicious food every day!

With this thought, Xia Zheng secretly pinched Lin Yuan’s soft leg and chuckled.

Lin Yuan gritted her teeth, rolled her eyes, and her feet were not idle either; she gave him a sharp kick.

The meal was lively and eventful, and Lin Yuan even received good news about the Glaze. Indeed, this trip outside had proven worthwhile.
