Chapter 1035: You rob!

The address "Young Master" from Cheng Yuexiu utterly bewildered Dong Qing, and by the time he regained his senses, he saw Cheng Yuexiu coquettishly lifting her hand to stroke her hair, with a suggestive smile, casting a seductive glance at him.

Dong Qing shuddered, his neck stiffening up.

To Cheng Yuexiu, his reaction simply meant that this fellow had never seen a woman more beautiful than her, and that he had been completely entranced by her beauty.

Just as Cheng Yuexiu confidently sneered at Lin Yuan, a sentence from Dong Qing made her plummet from cloud nine to the hard ground.

"Miss, is your eye having a spasm? Why are your eyelids fluttering so much? Didn’t you sleep well last night? No, no, that doesn’t look like a lack of sleep. Ah, I know now, miss, you must have applied too much powder above your eyelids, making them stick. Oh dear, miss, it’s not for me to say, but you really shouldn’t plaster so much powder on your face for the sake of beauty—it truly doesn’t look good. In my opinion, you look best without any makeup on!"

"Shut up!"

This time, Cheng Yuexiu’s eyelids truly started twitching, and she nearly ground her teeth to dust. This man, seemingly cultured and refined, how could he be so utterly insensitive?

Dong Qing, interrupted by Cheng Yuexiu’s cold remarks, immediately clammed up.

Lin Yuan, on the other hand, suppressed a smile, finding Dong Qing’s mouth occasionally quite useful.

Xiao Linshuang tugged at her elder sister’s hand. Lin Yuan looked down and saw the look passed by her younger sister: This woman is no good!

Lin Yuan gave her younger sister’s hand a slight tug and smiled faintly. She had already seen right through this woman’s nature. From the moment she entered, this woman’s eyes had not lingered on her, not to mention on Lin Wei and the others.

Her gaze was fixed entirely on Dong Qing, and judging by her, this woman was either infatuated with Dong Qing or she had some request to make. Naturally, Lin Yuan was more inclined to believe the latter.

It was a pity, though, that Dong Qing, as obtuse as he was, simply failed to grasp the woman’s intentions.

Seeing Dong Qing’s lack of tact, Cheng Yuexiu pursed her lips and decided to be direct, "Young Master, I heard from the maid that the elegant room on the second floor was reserved by you. I wonder if you could give it up for me? I would be forever grateful, and should you need any..."

"Absolutely not!"

Cheng Yuexiu hadn’t even finished speaking when Dong Qing choked her off with his coughing, her cheeks flushing red.

Ah Ling, while patting her mistress’s back, glared at Dong Qing, "How can you, young master, be so unaccustomed to cherishing and appreciating the gentleness of a lady? My mistress has made a polite request. If you do not wish to relinquish the room, that’s fine, but couldn’t you have replied more tactfully? And furthermore, amongst the young masters in the Capital city, one as stingy as you truly stands alone! Humph, you can tell at a glance you’re a young master from a minor household, truly lacking in presentability!"

Lin Yuan raised an eyebrow. She had already felt these two were rather presumptuous, but now, hearing the maid’s words, she thought them downright shameless. They had attempted to rob what others had reserved and when they failed, they resorted to sarcastic remarks about others not deserving to hide away. It was unfathomable that upon just arriving in the Capital city, she would encounter such brazen people.

"Miss, it’s not that we don’t..."

Lin Yuan had just begun to speak when Ah Ling cut her off, "Who are you? What right does a poor country girl like you have to speak to my mistress?"

Lin Yuan arched an eyebrow, now amusedly angered. She admitted that since her family had just arrived in the Capital city, they hadn’t had the chance to make new clothes, so they were all wearing ordinary attire from when they left the Lin family homestead. However, she now understood why Cheng Yuexiu had only spoken to Dong Qing and not to her before.

Although Dong Qing was merely Xia Zheng’s young servant, the young servants from the General Mansion were not to be compared with ordinary folk. His clothes were of fine material and exquisitely made, at first glance, indeed resembling that of a young master from a small household.

Yet Lin Yuan was never one to easily tolerate being insulted and looked down upon.

Knowing their elder sister’s character, Lin Wei and Xiao Linshuang exchanged sympathetic glances with Cheng Yuexiu and her servant, then settled down at a nearby table to watch the drama unfold leisurely.

Dong Qing, however, quickly stepped forward, eager to invoke his master’s name in his defense. In reality, if today’s incident involved any young lady or maid in the Capital city, none would take issue with Dong Qing, after all, he was Xia Zheng’s servant.

However, Cheng Yuexiu had only been in the Capital city for a year with her father, and during that year, Xia Zheng had been stationed in Zhuma Town and had not returned to the Capital. With Xia Zheng absent, Dong Qing, a mere servant, would of course not venture out of the mansion, so it was no wonder Cheng Yuexiu didn’t recognize Dong Qing.
