Chapter 1156: Chapter 1161: Green with Envy (1)
Xiang Yun was truly too proud of herself, as though all the grievances and anger she had suffered over the past two months had been vented out. When she saw Mo Zili repeatedly looking frustrated, she couldn’t express how relieved she felt inside!
"There are three types of animals: spiders, dragonflies, and cicadas, totaling 18. They have 118 legs and 20 pairs of wings in total. How many of each kind of insect are there?"
After Xiang Yun asked, Mo Zili immediately furrowed his brow and fell into deep thought, his slender hands fidgeting. He even looked a bit dumbly cute, which was a stark contrast to his usual indifferent appearance.
After a long while, he admitted defeat, his face flushed as he said, "How many?"
"Tsk!"
Xiang Yun let out a light laugh, picked up her teacup leisurely and took a sip, then said nonchalantly, "Spiders have 8 legs; dragonflies have 6 legs and two pairs of wings; cicadas have 6 legs and one pair of wings. So, the final answer is five spiders; seven dragonflies; six cicadas."
No sooner had she finished than Mo Zili started checking her answer on his fingers, and after confirming she was correct, his handsome face showed a hint of defeat.
Watching the man’s expression, Xiang Yun was extremely pleased with herself. She silently revered Cai Wei several times in her heart and made up her mind to have someone check Mu Mansion again to see if there were similar books. She decided she would read them carefully, intending to suppress this man’s arrogant manner thoroughly!
"Ah, such questions may be too difficult for you. I’ll ask you something more suitable for you!" She put down the teacup, wiped her mouth unhurriedly, and ignored Mo Zili’s darkening face, continuing with her question: "There’s a monkey riding on the tree and one on the ground. How many monkeys are there in total?"
This question was simple; Mo Zili didn’t even think before he answered, "Eight!"
"Wrong, it’s two!"
Xiang Yun stretched out her scissor hand and wagged it, her mouth curling up highly, looking smug as a little fox!
Mo Zili said, "That’s odd, there are seven on the tree and one on the ground; doesn’t seven plus one make eight?"
Xiang Yun stood up and said, "Who told you there are seven monkeys on the tree? Didn’t I say ’riding a monkey’?" As she spoke, she squatted down and mimicked riding a horse.
Mo Zili nearly spat blood. Wasn’t this just playing with him? Who asks questions like these?
"Eh, it seems this question is still too hard for you. Let me look for an easier one..."
Xiang Yun ignored the man’s expression, continued flipping through the book, and soon she stretched out a delicate jade finger, asking, "What is this?"
Mo Zili thought for a good while, then cautiously said, "A finger, uh no, the index finger!"
"Wrong!"
Xiang Yun slammed the table and lifted her finger higher, "This is one!"
Then, she switched to the other hand, extended her index finger, and said, "What is this?"
Isn’t it the same as before? Without a second thought, Mo Zili said, "One!"
"Thump!"
Xiang Yun slammed the table again and said loudly, "Wrong, this is a finger!"
Now, Mo Zili’s face turned utterly black. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Wu Xiangyun, do you dare to make a fool of me?"
Xiang Yun, righteous and indignant, said, "Who’s making a fool of you? All’s fair in war – it’s your own lack of thorough thinking, and yet you blame me?" After finishing, she muttered under her breath, "Truly shameless!"
As a martial arts practitioner, even sick, Mo Zili still had keen hearing; he heard her mumble loud and clear, gave a cold smile, and said ominously, "Since it’s like that, I’ll give you a question in return."
As he spoke, he too extended an index finger and asked, "What is this?"
Xiang Yun rolled her eyes and thought for a while, then came up with what she believed to be a comprehensive answer, "It’s not one, it’s a finger!"
