Chapter 358: Chapter 196: Like_3

Shu Wan played the piano with increasing enthusiasm, and by the time it was nearing half-past eleven, she was ready to start another piece.

Fu Siyu stretched out his hand to press down on the piano keys, looking at Shu Wan with a bemused expression, "Aren’t you planning to sleep?"

Shu Wan glanced at the time on Fu Siyu’s wristwatch, "Alright, I lost track of time."

"Let’s go, your bedroom is on the second floor. The hot water in the bathroom is all ready."

"Mm."

Shu Wan stood up and followed Fu Siyu downstairs.

When they reached the bedroom door, Fu Siyu pointed towards the closet, "There are no women’s clothes here, so you’ll have to make do with wearing mine. Don’t worry, they’re all brand new."

"Okay."

Having said that, Shu Wan walked towards the bedroom. After just a couple of steps, Fu Siyu stopped her and hesitated before asking, "You’re not afraid of ghosts, are you?"

Shu Wan frowned slightly, "Why would you suddenly ask that?"

"About that ski resort over there," Fu Siyu began, then stopped, "Never mind, it’s nothing. My room is at the end of the hallway, and the servants are on the first floor. If you need anything, just give me a call."

After speaking, Fu Siyu gave Shu Wan a concerned look before turning to leave.

At the bedroom door, Shu Wan watched Fu Siyu’s retreating figure with an incredulous look on her face. Why did he always speak in half-truths? What about the ski resort?

Fu Siyu was already far away, so Shu Wan could only suppress her curiosity and take her pajamas to the bathroom for a shower.

The pajamas were brand new, but since they were Fu Siyu’s size, they hung rather loosely on Shu Wan, giving off a different kind of charm.

The room was warm. Shu Wan dried her hair and got into bed, habitually turning off the bedside lamp to sleep.

When the room was completely dark, the woods outside lit by the snowy brightness seemed to encircle Shu Wan from all directions.

A floor-to-ceiling window was certainly great for views, but in the midst of a deep forest, it couldn’t provide much in the way of security.

Looking at the deep woods outside that seemed like a black hole, Fu Siyu’s earlier words suddenly sprang into Shu Wan’s mind.

What about the ski resort?

Shu Wan wasn’t afraid of ghosts; people’s hearts could be much scarier than any spirit. The main reason Shu Wan couldn’t sleep was that Fu Siyu had only spoken in half, and she was very curious.

Outside, the cold wind suddenly rose, causing the branches to sway in the air. The scattered shadows cast on the windows looked like wavering human figures. Shu Wan picked up her phone and called Fu Siyu.

Fu Siyu seemed to have been asleep already, his voice tired, "What is it?"

"Just now, what about the ski resort?"

There were rustling sounds from Fu Siyu’s side, as he got out of bed.

Before long, the door to Shu Wan’s bedroom was pushed open, and Fu Siyu, draped in a coat, walked in, "Are you so curious? I never noticed that before."

"..."

If it had been anyone else talking to Shu Wan like this, she wouldn’t have been curious. But the fact that these words came from Fu Siyu’s mouth—who normally didn’t leave things unsaid—made Shu Wan all the more intrigued.

A flash of light passed through Fu Siyu’s eyes, and he couldn’t seem to hold back a smile, "I was just teasing you. What could possibly happen?"

Shu Wan’s eyes widened slightly. She sat up against the headboard, her oversized pajamas making her face seem as small as a crescent moon. Her eyes were moist, like they were touched with the dew of early morning.

Clearly, Shu Wan hadn’t expected Fu Siyu to joke with her like that. It toppled the image of him being mature and stable in her mind, but it also brought him to life a little more.

"I have an unreasonable request. If you’re unwilling, just let me know," Fu Siyu said, his gaze on Shu Wan, eyes twinkling with a soft smile.

"What is it?"

Fu Siyu turned to look at the sofa not far away, "May I sleep here? It’s rare to have this chance, I’d like to chat with you for a while."

With Fu Siyu’s straightforwardness and his trustworthiness, Shu Wan naturally didn’t object.

"Alright."

Fu Siyu quickly returned to Shu Wan’s room, bringing bedding with him.

When Shu Wan slept, she left a small lamp on at the foot of the bed. The room was dark, but it was bright enough to see clearly.

Fu Siyu leaned against the couch, his gaze falling on Shu Wan. Her whole body was buried under the blankets, with only a bit of her hair visible.

"Feeling sleepy?" Fu Siyu asked.

"It’s okay."

"Seeing that you’re interested in the piano, I’ll find a teacher for you..."

Snow drifted outside the window, and the dimly lit room, accompanied by the crackling of flames in the fireplace, was filled with Fu Siyu and Shu Wan’s intermittent conversation.

After a while, Shu Wan was starting to feel drowsy when Fu Siyu suddenly asked, "Have you ever liked someone?"

"What kind?"

"Like between a man and a woman."

Shu Wan thought for a second, "No."

There was silence on Fu Siyu’s end, and Shu Wan, in turn, asked, "What about you?"

"Yes."

Shu Wan thought to herself, Fu Siyu must be talking about Fu Yang’s biological mother.

After all, if there wasn’t love, they wouldn’t have a child together.

Fu Siyu never brought up Fu Yang’s mother voluntarily, and even though Shu Wan was curious, she never asked. Now that Fu Siyu brought it up, she took the opportunity to ask, "What was she like?"

"A pretty cute person."

Cute...

Shu Wan suddenly remembered a short video she had shared with Fu Siyu before. It said that if you find someone handsome, beautiful, wealthy, or capable, it’s no big deal. But if you find someone cute, then you’re done for—it means you really like them.

Hearing Fu Siyu describe Fu Yang’s biological mother as "cute," Shu Wan inexplicably felt a tinge of sourness well up in her heart.

But the feeling passed as quickly as it came, and she didn’t even notice it herself.

Shu Wan was going to ask where Fu Yang’s biological mother had gone but felt it would be impolite, so she changed the subject, "What does it feel like to like someone?"

"When I think of her, I want to smile."

Fu Siyu’s expression was hidden in the dark, indecipherable, but the laughter in his tone was clear.

The hint of sourness in Shu Wan’s heart seemed to grow, but as usual, she was good at controlling her emotions and quickly replied with a nod, "Mm."

The two fell silent, and the room was filled only with the rustling sounds from the fireplace’s flames.
