Chapter 9: Infiltrating Heroine, I’ll Take It All!

The rooster crowed, and the morning sky was ablaze with dawn.

Lin Tai sat up comfortably in bed. As expected, there was nothing a good night’s sleep couldn’t fix.

Today was a new day, and he had a new plot to navigate. After freshening up, Lin Tai pulled out his phone and called his best buddy.

Within an hour, a group of small-time thugs had gathered outside the Lin family estate.

“That kid’s near the Longteng Hotel now,” Ling Weifeng said without wasting words. Just as Lin Tai had anticipated, one call to Ling Weifeng, and he immediately rallied the crew.

“Dare to mess with my Shihan—beat him to a pulp!” According to the original plot, Lin Tai should’ve been humiliated by Xia Shihan and Xiao Yuxuan last night.

After the slap-down, unwilling to retaliate against Xia Shihan and too afraid to cross Xiao Yuxuan, he naturally turned his sights on the powerless Ye Bai, planning to gather some thugs to teach him a lesson.

Among those thugs was Hecate, who would infiltrate and tip off Ye Bai in advance. Ye Bai would then manipulate Xiao Yuxuan into witnessing Lin Tai’s attack, prompting her to rush in and give him a thorough beating.

But after last night’s bizarre plot twist, it was unclear if Hecate would still infiltrate.

“Let me tell you, brother, I hit the jackpot today,” Ling Weifeng said with a grin, slinging an arm around Lin Tai’s shoulder, his face brimming with pride.

“What treasure?” This familiar scene … could it be …

Sure enough, following Ling Weifeng’s goofy gaze, Lin Tai spotted that familiar figure—the poison walking among men, Hecate!

The moment he saw Hecate, Lin Tai perked up. Despite everything, she still showed up. Truly a professional heroine—Lin Tai loved that dedication.

“I’m telling you, she’s gorgeous, but her skills are top-notch,” Ling Weifeng boasted, lowering his voice. “I checked her background—it’s clean. She’s usable.”

“Give her to me,” Lin Tai said without hesitation. An infiltrating heroine on his side was too good to let slip away.

“She could work as your personal bodyguard, but watch out—you might exhaust yourself,” Ling Weifeng chuckled lewdly, flashing a knowing look.

“You didn’t …” Lin Tai eyed Ling Weifeng. This guy wouldn’t have dared to make a move on Hecate, would he?

This woman wasn’t to be trifled with—the world’s second-ranked assassin, the Dark Goddess, wasn’t a joke.

“You think I’d give you a used one?”

“She’s fierce but pure. I had a nurse check her at the hospital—everything’s intact.”

“Get lost. My heart belongs only to Shihan,” Lin Tai sighed in relief. As long as Ling Weifeng hadn’t crossed any lines, it was fine.

Hecate was a heroine, after all. If Ling Weifeng touched her, Lin Tai feared she might kill him outright.

“Sure, sure. I don’t get what spell you’re under,” Ling Weifeng shrugged, leaning back comfortably in his chair. “But the real shocker was Xia Shihan last night. That woman totally threw me off. Uncle must’ve shelled out a fortune to get that reaction. Open your eyes, kid.”

“What’s your name?” Ignoring Ling Weifeng’s teasing—knowing it came from a good place but unable to respond due to his persona—Lin Tai pulled Hecate to his left side, seating her beside him.

“Hecate.” Her voice remained as cold as ever, the world’s second assassin never wasting words. But the instant Lin Tai touched her hand, a faint blush crept across her face.

“From today, you’re with me. I’ll make sure you eat well and live life large,” Lin Tai said with a wild laugh. In the original plot, though his character was unruly, he treated his subordinates exceptionally well.

“Thank you, Young Master Lin.” Hecate kept her head low, avoiding Lin Tai’s eyes.

Those clear eyes always held trust, yet she’d betrayed him time and again. She swore that, reborn in this life, she’d never let Ye Bai harm Lin Tai again.

“Hand over your phones,” Ling Weifeng said, pulling out a bag for the thugs to deposit their devices.

He was cautious—these were temporary hires, and he couldn’t rule out Ye Bai’s spies among them. Better to prevent any early leaks!

“You, hand over any communication devices too,” Ling Weifeng’s gaze fell on Hecate.

Without hesitation, Hecate pulled a mobile phone from her jacket pocket.

“Wait, she’s with me. She’s trustworthy,” Lin Tai hurriedly intervened.

Joking aside, if Ling Weifeng took Hecate’s phone, who’d tip off Ye Bai? How would Ye Bai set him up in advance? How would the plot continue?

“Bro, we’ve known her for less than ten minutes, and you trust her already?” Ling Weifeng laughed bitterly, unsure whether to call Lin Tai naive or foolish.

“I believe in my charm. Once they’re mine, they won’t betray me,” Lin Tai declared firmly. His original character was this brainless—perfectly in line.

“Thank you for trusting me, Young Master Lin.” Hecate’s heart stirred. He still trusted her so blindly.

What a fool!

Her gaze toward Lin Tai softened further.

This time, no one would hurt her little fool.

“Here’s my phone.” Hecate tossed her device into the bag.

“…” Lin Tai was dumbfounded. What was Hecate doing? I helped you out, and you still refused? What kind of heroine are you? Could this mutation be contagious? Even Hecate was acting weird now? No, Hecate must be avoiding suspicion.

Her goal was to infiltrate him. If Xiao Yuxuan showed up later and saw this, it might backfire, making him doubt her.

As a top assassin, Hecate surely had more than one communication device.

With that thought, Lin Tai’s expression improved.

As expected of a heroine—always thinking several steps ahead of a villain like him.
