Transmigrated as a Villain, the Heroines’ Personas Have Collapsed -
Chapter 8 - Strange Plot, Kill Him!
Chapter 8: Strange Plot, Kill Him!
Even after the banquet ended, Lin Tai remained in a state of utter confusion.
“System, be honest with me—are those two transmigrators, or do they have systems? Or maybe they’ve been reborn?” Standing by the window, feeling the gentle night breeze, he tried to sort out his thoughts.
[Rest assured, Host. They are definitely not transmigrators. A single world can only have one system, and in this world, it’s just me, the Salted Fish System, bound to you. Please trust that I won’t be unfaithful.]
“What about rebirth? Could they have been reborn?” Xia Shihan and Xiao Yuxuan’s behavior was far too suspicious, completely unlike their original characters.
[Rest assured, Host. This world’s Heavenly Dao does not permit rebirth. Your opportunity exists only under the protection of this system.]
“Then what the hell is going on? I, the vicious supporting male character, have completely stolen the male lead’s spotlight—what’s this supposed to mean?” Lin Tai was frustrated. These days, being a villainous side character was tough.
[This system doesn’t know.]
“Hah, so you’re just a real idle fish, clueless about everything, huh.” Lin Tai was speechless.
In his past life, the Salted Fish System only ever rewarded him with skills like world-class acting, world-class medicine, world-class martial arts, world-class cooking, and top-tier financial knowledge …
Beyond that, it was utterly useless when it came to plot-related questions, living up to its “idle” name to the fullest.
[Xianyu translates to Idle fish which sounds as salted fish in English.]“Could it be because of my father?” As everyone speculated, Xia Shihan’s drastic change might be due to Lin Zhentian making a huge sacrifice.
But what about Xiao Yuxuan?
Did Lin Zhentian also pay a steep price just to ensure his son’s birthday was joyful?
“Yeah, it must be because of Father.” Unable to think of any other reason, Lin Tai settled on this explanation.
With that thought, he mustered his courage again, preparing for the next part of the plot.
As for the two heroines whose behavior had shifted so dramatically, Lin Tai could only hope they were acting out of respect for Lin Zhentian. Otherwise, this joke would be too much.
Thinking of the upcoming plot, Lin Tai frowned again.
According to the original Lin family banquet storyline, Lin Tai would be double-humiliated by Ye Bai, and in a fit of rage, accidentally reveal a jade pendant he’d carried since childhood.
That jade pendant would catch Ye Bai’s eye.
It was a crucial plot point in Emperor’s Return. Ye Bai clearly remembered that the men who kidnapped him as a child all wore identical jade pendants.
That hatred, etched into his memory, was also a vital clue.
To investigate, Ye Bai would dispatch the leader of his assassin organization, Hecate, to secretly look into it.
Hecate was also one of the heroines, the world’s second-ranked assassin, just below Ye Bai. She had founded the world’s top assassin organization for him, helping eliminate many of his business rivals.
She was a key tool in Ye Bai’s rise abroad.
If not for the jade pendant’s critical importance, Ye Bai wouldn’t have sent her to infiltrate Lin Tai’s side as a mole. And in the end, it was Hecate who lured Lin Tai to the warehouse and shot him from behind.
Now that Ye Bai hadn’t seen the jade pendant, would he still send Hecate to spy on him?
Lin Tai scratched his head, furious. Even a slight plot change left him clueless on how to proceed! Hecate played a significant role in his storyline.
Every time Lin Tai schemed against Ye Bai, it was Hecate’s betrayal that allowed Ye Bai to escape. What was he supposed to do now?
After racking his brain with no solution, Lin Tai decided to wait and see.
On the brightly lit street, Ye Bai’s face was as dark as a storm.
“Hecate!” he growled. From the shadows, a woman appeared behind him unnoticed. She was his shadow, handling the dirty work for him.
“Kill someone for me!” Ye Bai’s face twitched, his eyes burning with rage.
“Who?” Hecate’s voice was cold and emotionless, a blade honed to perfection.
“Lin Tai. I want him dead!” The memory of his humiliation in front of the elite tonight fueled Ye Bai’s uncontrollable anger.
He wanted Lin Tai dead!
Though he didn’t understand why Xia Shihan and Xiao Yuxuan had suddenly changed their attitudes, it didn’t matter. Their inexplicable kindness toward Lin Tai would normalize once he was gone.
Deep down, Ye Bai believed their shift was due to Lin Zhentian’s influence.
“Satan, I’ve uncovered some information about your past that might interest you.” Hecate didn’t respond to his order but handed him a few photos instead.
“What’s this?” Ye Bai took the photos, and memories flooded back like a tidal wave.
“It’s them!” His teeth clenched. He’d never forget that jade pendant—it was worn by the men who kidnapped his family.
“This was taken from Lin Tai.” Hecate continued.
“Don’t kill him. Infiltrate his side and investigate the jade pendant’s origin secretly. I want to know everything!” The moment Ye Bai saw the pendant, his rationality returned.
“Yes.” Hecate nodded.
“By the way, why do you have these photos?” Ye Bai looked at her in surprise. He didn’t recall ordering Hecate to investigate Lin Tai.
“Satan is my master. Your business is my business.” Hecate replied flatly, her eyes devoid of emotion.
“Well done. Once you uncover the truth, I’ll allow you to be my woman.” Ye Bai smiled at her. He knew Hecate liked him.
He was also quite taken with her.
Hecate’s skills were among the world’s best. If he hadn’t tricked her back then, she might have claimed the title of the world’s top assassin.
She was also a stunning Western beauty with a figure honed by special training, like a poison walking among men—one glance could ensnare anyone.
Over the years, he’d been tempted more than once to claim her fully, but he held back. Hecate was his subordinate, and a deeper relationship would blur the lines between superior and servant.
So, he restrained himself!
Now, once Hecate uncovered the truth about his past, he’d have no more reservations—and it would be the perfect reward for her.
Ye Bai didn’t notice the fleeting disdain and killing intent in Hecate’s eyes as he turned away.
It vanished as quickly as it appeared.
