Transmigrated as a Villain, the Heroines’ Personas Have Collapsed -
Chapter 14 - Ye Bai’s Suspicion
Chapter 14: Ye Bai’s Suspicion
Late at night, in the intensive care unit of the capital’s top hospital. Ye Bai, wrapped like a mummy, gazed silently at the fluttering curtains outside the window.
Hecate slipped into the room unnoticed.
“Hecate has harmed Satan. Please punish me, Master,” she said with a slight bow, offering no excuses.
She knew Ye Bai well—a man of extreme pride who cared only about results, not processes. Even in a towering rage, he wouldn’t show it outright.
In her past life, she’d learned of his ruthlessness. Those who crossed him might face no immediate consequence, only to be struck fatally from behind, their families dragged into the mess.
A stark contrast to the kind boy she loved.
“Hecate, I believe you had no choice. Tell me what you’ve uncovered,” Ye Bai’s tone was calm yet carried the oppressive aura of a commanding figure.
“The kidnapping years ago was orchestrated by Ye Shichang,” Hecate said flatly.
“Evidence!” Ye Bai’s face remained neutral, his emotions unreadable.
“Today, I asked Lin Tai. He admitted the jade pendant was a gift from Ye Shichang.” Ye Shichang was Ye Bai’s uncle—and the prime suspect in that incident.
“Can Lin Tai’s words be trusted?”
“I’ve become his trusted confidant,” Hecate replied. Her visit to Ye Bai wasn’t to aid him. She aimed to redirect his hatred, preventing any rash actions that might harm Lin Tai—or even Ling Weifeng.
She couldn’t bear to see her boy in pain.
“Find a way to kill Ling Weifeng,” Ye Bai said calmly, though his anger simmered beneath the surface.
Lin Tai was still useful, but Ling Weifeng could die! After years dominating abroad, he’d never suffered such a humiliation.
“Ling Weifeng was sent to Hainan by Lin Tai this afternoon. I’ve sent you the hotel address,” Hecate continued.
A flicker passed through her eyes—a subtle hint that Ling Weifeng was important to Lin Tai.
“Hmph, thinks hiding in Hainan will save him?” Ye Bai smirked coldly.
“Since Lin Tai’s on guard, no rush. Hecate, keep investigating. I need to know who else was involved in the kidnapping besides Ye Shichang.” Ye Bai’s face darkened.
Recalling the murder of his parents, he could endure anything.
“Sooner or later, I’ll make them all die by my hands!” He clenched his fist.
“Also, arrange for me to star in Lu Ziyan’s movie and reintroduce myself to the public,” Ye Bai added from the hospital bed.
After being beaten into this state, he knew pulling Xiao Yuxuan to his side was impossible.
That woman was too unpredictable! Now, he’d target the Lu family instead.
The Lu family, the uncrowned king of China’s entertainment industry, controlled media channels. Mastering that network would be a sharp weapon.
Moreover, after becoming a laughingstock at Lin Tai’s banquet, he needed a new image to redefine himself.
“Spread the word—spare no expense to secure this male lead role,” Ye Bai had originally planned to use his modest identity to lure Xia Shihan, opening a path into China’s elite.
Though that failed, it didn’t matter. If he couldn’t break in from within, he’d use money to force an entry, showcasing his wealth to the elite!
It would also pave the way to win over Xia Shihan—a double win!
“I’m tired. Leave now, and don’t let Lin Tai suspect you,” Ye Bai waved her off. Hecate swiftly exited.
Minutes later, a sharply dressed man entered the room.
“Boss, here’s the investigation report.” He handed Ye Bai a detailed file—Hecate’s recent interactions, down to what she ate daily.
Since today’s incident, Ye Bai had lost faith in Hecate and ordered a secret probe into her activities.
Ye Bai’s brows furrowed as he reviewed the report. It was thorough—Hecate had no issues. Aside from her contact with Lin Tai, she hadn’t spoken an extra word to anyone.
Ye Bai couldn’t believe Lin Tai had the ability to turn Hecate.
“This is getting more interesting,” he mused. An invisible hand seemed to manipulate the board, but the player was so well-disguised he couldn’t trace them.
Who could it be? Ye Shichang? Or that old fox in the capital?
Either way, he’d unearth them eventually.
“Keep a close watch on Hecate. Monitor everyone she contacts,” Ye Bai ordered. If he suspected her, even a lack of evidence meant she was guilty!
