Chapter 11: Just … What a Pitiful Male Lead

The thugs sprang into action at the command.

Unfortunately, despite their numbers, they were no match for Ye Bai.

Having fought on Middle Eastern battlefields for years, Ye Bai’s every move was a killing strike—swift and precise. A left punch, a right whip kick, each blow lethal. In an instant, two thugs were down.

Lin Tai, watching from the sidelines, nodded inwardly. As expected of the male lead—his strength was impressive.

Hecate’s performance was also spot on, standing at the back of the thugs without joining the fight.

The plot was finally getting back on track.

Recalling his earlier doubts about Hecate, Lin Tai felt a pang of guilt.

Next, he could start planning his escape.

What Lin Tai didn’t notice was that, while he plotted his getaway, Hecate moved! Her eyes had been fixed on Ye Bai, watching his performance, searching for an opening.

The next moment, as Ye Bai crouched for a sweeping kick, Hecate seized the chance. She stepped forward, leaped high, and delivered a whip kick aimed at his most vulnerable spot.

Ye Bai was startled, quickly covering himself with both hands to block.

Even so, Hecate’s kick landed squarely, striking the vital area between his legs.

Despite his desperate attempt to shield himself, it was futile.

The force of Hecate’s kick was immense. Ye Bai let out a scream and collapsed, incapacitated. In that moment, Ye Bai was stunned. He clearly saw Hecate strike him—and with such ruthlessness!

The heel of her high heel nearly crushed his hand, and the pain in his groin was excruciating. He couldn’t comprehend why Hecate would betray him!

Not just a betrayal, but a deadly strike right off the bat.

He had no time for further thoughts. The thugs, sensing his weakness, seized the opportunity and swarmed him. The tide turned completely.

Ye Bai was pinned down in the middle, beaten mercilessly by the mob.

“…” Lin Tai watched Ye Bai’s desperate cries, a pitiful sight. In no time, his face was covered in blood, looking like a ghost. He’d be perfect for scaring kids at a haunted house.

His gaze shifted to Hecate. This woman’s strike was ruthless—worthy of a top assassin!

But … wasn’t she Ye Bai’s person?  Why would she attack him? And with such ferocity? That kick had left Ye Bai completely immobilized, forced to take the beating!

Was Hecate out of her mind?

Lin Tai was at a loss.

Ye Bai, now being pummeled, had his face battered beyond recognition.

The thugs he’d beaten earlier, fueled by resentment, struck with brutal force—left hooks, right hooks, every punch landing hard. Even Lin Tai winced watching.

Ye Bai, what a pitiful male lead …

Hecate stood by, watching Ye Bai get beaten, her heart unmoved—nay, she felt like laughing.

Recalling how Ye Bai killed Lin Tai in her past life, she wished she could tear him to pieces!

Earlier, she’d held back. That kick could’ve been lethal, not just a groin strike—she was confident in a one-hit kill! But Ye Bai couldn’t die yet. The forces behind him hadn’t been eliminated, and they posed a threat to Lin Tai.

That was something Hecate absolutely wouldn’t allow!

The thugs were beating Ye Bai to death, and no one dared intervene. The surrounding guests kept their distance.

The security guards, seeing their young master and Lin Tai’s involvement, didn’t dare stop them, pretending not to notice.

“Stop!” Xiao Yuxuan strode forward in high heels, flanked by a disciplined group of black-suited bodyguards.

The thugs, intimidated by her presence, froze and released the badly injured Ye Bai, retreating behind Lin Tai and Ling Weifeng.

“The main event’s here.” Seeing Xiao Yuxuan, Lin Tai’s heart leaped with joy.

No matter how the plot twisted, Xiao Yuxuan still came to save Ye Bai! He’d nearly given up hope—the plot had been a complete mess.

Hecate wasn’t following the script at all.

Now, with Xiao Yuxuan’s rescue, the story was back on track.

Yes!

“Xiao Yuxuan, I advise you not to meddle. I’m not afraid of you!” Lin Tai put on a tough front, but his trembling lips betrayed his fear.

This was his persona—Xiao Yuxuan was someone he couldn’t afford to offend, someone he genuinely feared.

Now, he waited for her to retort, threaten him to release Ye Bai, proving the plot could still be salvaged.

Seeing Xiao Yuxuan, a glimmer of hope sparked in Ye Bai’s eyes.

He knew it—yesterday, Xiao Yuxuan must’ve been swayed by Lin Zhentian’s bribes. Today, without his influence, she’d surely side with him.

“I’m not meddling. I just want to remind you—killing him here would hurt the Longteng Hotel’s business and Uncle Lin’s reputation,” Xiao Yuxuan said softly, her usual fiery temper nowhere in sight.

Instead, she sounded like a caring neighbor, looking out for Lin Tai.

“Xiao Yuxuan, what are you trying to do?!” Lin Tai’s words came from the heart. Since yesterday, her persona had been off. She used to hate him to the core, yet now she acted like she lived for him.

The worst part? Her meddling made it hard for him to play his role—it was driving him crazy!

“I’m not trying to do anything. I just want to help you,” Xiao Yuxuan knew her behavior was abrupt, but she couldn’t care less now.

Yesterday, she’d noticed something off about Xia Shihan, as if she were in the same situation as herself.

If Xia Shihan had also been reborn and knew the future, she’d have an easier time winning Lin Tai’s love.

The more Xiao Yuxuan thought about it, the more impatient she grew. Coincidentally, while pondering, she recalled that Lin Tai would target Ye Bai today.

She hadn’t intended to stop it—Ye Bai, in her eyes, deserved to die a thousand times.

But he was also dangerous. In her past life, she’d faced him and knew the extent of his overseas power. His combat skills were formidable; back then, only Hecate’s sneak attack and their combined effort with Xia Shihan could subdue him.

Xiao Yuxuan had arrived early, watching from afar because she spotted Hecate.

With that woman around, Lin Tai wouldn’t be bullied by Ye Bai!

It also confirmed Hecate had been reborn—a troubling realization for Xiao Yuxuan.

Being close to the water gets the moon first—this woman was more dangerous than Xia Shihan!
