Told You I Can Turn Back Time -
Chapter 83 Liang Family’s Village
Chapter 83: Chapter 83 Liang Family’s Village
Lin Xing, riding on horseback, was currently deep in thought, "These days, I’ve encountered so many bandits, yet none of them could kill me. This is the downside of becoming stronger and stronger."
Although the activation of time reversal meant Lin Xing knew he would accumulate more and more unnecessary memories, even interfering with his original memories.
But about this... he just felt annoyed, yet not frightened. Partly because the process was still very slow, and partly because he knew fear was useless.
He still planned to continue making good use of his superpowers, knowing that only by gaining enough strength could he find a way to solve his own problems in this world.
And utilizing time reversal to continuously become stronger seemed to Lin Xing, at the moment, to be the most advantageous path.
So, at this moment, he was still willing to embrace death, fighting life and death battles in each time reversal, and continuously honing his skills.
...
Deep in the mountains lay Liang Family’s Village.
What once was a bustling village now remained only desolate.
The nearby large expanses of farmland were abandoned due to lack of manpower.
Almost all the residents left in the village were elderly people, near the age of seventy, and it had been a long time since any young person was seen.
That night, Lin Xing and Jing Shiyu traveled overnight and arrived at Liang Family’s Village, a rare spot they found still inhabited and suitable for rest.
So, the two decided to rest here for the night and continue their journey the next day.
Arriving at an old woman’s home, when Jing Shiyu took out five silver taels for her, the old woman warmly welcomed them.
Upon entering the guest room, the Puppet Girl immediately grabbed a cat doll, lay down on the bed, and coldly said, "I’m dead tired! I’m going to sleep first."
Looking at the Puppet Girl lying motionless on the bed, Jing Shiyu thoughtfully turned to Lin Xing and said, "Doesn’t she need to eat something?"
Lin Xing shook his head to indicate it wasn’t necessary, while Jing Shiyu’s gaze toward the Puppet Girl became even more playful.
A moment later, the old woman brought some pickles and steamed buns. Jing Shiyu asked, "Old lady, do you have any wine?"
The old woman gave a wry smile, "In such a remote poor village, where would we get wine from? Please make do with what we have, young masters and miss."
Jing Shiyu sighed, seemingly still regretting the lack of wine, while Lin Xing curiously asked, "It seems like there aren’t many people left in the village?"
The old woman replied helplessly, "Ah, the young people were either conscripted by Commander Zhao to fight or they left to find opportunities outside. Only us old folks waiting for death are left."
Lin Xing asked, "Can’t the fields outside be cultivated?"
The old woman sighed, "The land tax imposed by the Commander is too high; if one can’t afford it, the fields just remain barren..."
After chatting for a few minutes, the old woman left to rest, and Jing Shiyu and Lin Xing began to eat their dinner.
But just as Lin Xing was about to swallow a steamed bun, Jing Shiyu stopped him.
"You really have no street smarts, do you? Can you just eat outside food like this?"
Jing Shiyu then took the steamed bun and pickles, rubbed them together, and then licked and smacked her lips.
Shortly after, she spat out and said, "Just as I thought, they added something."
In a workshop somewhere in Liang Family’s Village.
A thick, putrid stench incessantly wafted from the room.
Amid the clattering sounds, an old man was seen carefully slicing a dried finger with a kitchen knife.
As the finger pieces dwindled, the old man couldn’t resist licking his lips, "This is the last piece of meat."
The old man beside him, who was boiling soup, chuckled, "Didn’t three more just move in today? Once they’re all chopped up and in the pot, we’ll have enough to eat for a long time."
The sound of boiling water gurgled beside him, occasionally revealing large chunks of human bones that quickly disappeared back into the roiling broth.
The meat-cutting old man licked his lips again and nodded, "I heard there are two women among them, women are good, their flesh is soft."
The soup-cooking old man, hearing this, seemed to exhibit a strong craving, "Give me the breast meat, I want to eat the fatty parts."
Just then, a creaking noise echoed from behind them, and turning to look, they saw it was an old woman who had returned from delivering food.
The old woman, with a joyful expression, said, "The dishes laced with sleeping drugs have been served to them, we’ll act once they fall asleep tonight."
The meat-cutting old man nodded repeatedly, "Call everyone over, let’s finish the remaining meat. We need to be full to work."
So, the woman hurriedly ran out to call people. Eventually, eight old people sat around the dining table, their eyes gleaming green and their stomachs growling as the old woman distributed a small piece of meat to each of them.
At that moment, the door suddenly burst open with a bang. The old people turned around in shock and saw Jing Shiyu slowly floating in, her long hair undulating behind her.
"A bunch of old thieves, you’ve brought cannibalism to my doorstep?"
One of the elders roared with anger and grabbed a firewood cutter beside him to strike Jing Shiyu, but the next moment, he was flung away.
His chest seemed to be smashed by an invisible sledgehammer, utterly crushed and deformed, then he spat out a mouthful of blood mist and fell to the ground.
Though shocked, the remaining old men all stood up, grabbing nearby farm tools like dung forks, hoes, and sickles, and charged towards Jing Shiyu with roars.
Watching these old men with green gleaming eyes and ferocious expressions, Jing Shiyu frowned and with a gentle sweep of her psychic power, she blew up their heads one by one.
Standing beside her, Lin Xing frowned repeatedly, advising, "It’s enough to kill them; don’t make such a mess."
Jing Shiyu snorted, "If I don’t blow up their heads, what if they don’t die?"
However, the heads of the next few old men didn’t explode after all; they were merely twisted around and then dropped to the ground.
Lin Xing’s gaze swept across the room, seeing various human bones, meat soup, and even heads... He sighed inwardly, "Mirror World is really full of lunatics. We’ve hardly met any good people on this journey."
The last old woman who delivered the food collapsed on the floor, staring at the bodies littered around and at Jing Shiyu floating above, her fright mixed with despair, "Evil Woman! You evil woman! Killing so many people, you will not die a good death!"
Jing Shiyu, however, curiously eyed the bone in the old woman’s hand, asking, "Bring out whatever else you’re relying on."
The old woman gave a miserable laugh, raising the bone that looked like a thigh, and screamed, "You all will die! All of you!"
Jing Shiyu scoffed. The next moment, the old woman’s head spun around three hundred sixty degrees, and then she collapsed to the ground with a thud.
After killing all the old people, Jing Shiyu turned and left, "Let’s go, it’s getting late. Let’s get some sleep, so we can hit the road early tomorrow."
The two returned to their room to find the Puppet Girl still lying motionlessly on the bed, seemingly deep in sleep.
