Chapter 225: Chapter 215: Unexpected Encounter

In the blink of an eye, five days had passed, and the wedding of Yuan Cheng and Liu Yao was about to commence. However, Zhuo Hang was still keeping a close watch on Yuan Cheng, reasoning that if Yuan Cheng had any connection with the Lengbing Ocean Shipping Company, he might be the breakthrough they needed.

One day, Yue Cheng and Liu Yao were eating together, chatting happily about their upcoming wedding and their invited guests. Amidst their joy, Yuan Cheng received a message— he was granted permission to meet the big boss, a meeting he must keep secret from Liu Yao.

Yuan Cheng excused himself and asked Liu Yao to drive him to a certain clubhouse before driving herself home and assuring her to get some early rest.

The people tailing Yuan Cheng watched him carefully. Seeing him disembark and walk into the clubhouse, they immediately reported back.

Zhuo Hang and Su Hui quickly began investigating the background of this clubhouse, discovering it was just an ordinary place owned by a private businessman with no significant connections. Yet, the clientele comprised of influential figures from the political and business sectors.

Su Hui deduced that this clubhouse was a secret meeting place for these individuals. Given Yuan Cheng’s statutory dealings, he wouldn’t be here unless he was meeting guests of unique statuses.

Consequently, she drove towards the clubhouse, hoping the individuals that Yuan Cheng was going to meet might provide essential leads.

Unfortunately, things did not go as smoothly as Su Hui had anticipated—she got stuck in a traffic jam. This would cause a significant delay, and she urgently instructed her colleagues to keep a close eye on the situation and take photographs of anyone coming out of the place.

Inside the clubhouse, Yuan Cheng was on edge, finally getting a chance to meet the legendary big boss—the power behind the throne. His mind and body trembled involuntarily at the thought.

This was a one-on-one meeting with no elders for support. How he would handle it was entirely up to Yuan Cheng. Even though he knew that no harm would come to him because of his elders’ support, he couldn’t help but fear what kind of person the man his elders feared would be.

After waiting for a while, a low voice resounded, "So, you’ve arrived, Yuan Cheng."

Upon hearing this, Yuan Cheng trembled slightly and turned around to see a man walking in slowly, his eyes wolf-like, exuding an intimidating aura of evil. He carried an aura of authority and confidence, as though he was in control of everything.

What shocked Yuan Cheng the most was that the man seemed to be in his thirties, only a few years older than himself. He couldn’t believe this man was the power behind the throne.

Tentatively, Yuan Cheng asked, "So you’re the big boss."

"Indeed, I am." After uttering these words, the big boss comfortably sat down, crossed his legs and folded his arms. He intently watched Yuan Cheng and said, "Your father speaks highly of you, describing you as a talented individual. I have wanted to meet you for a long time. I have indeed met many children of others, but none impressed me except you."

"You flatter me," responded Yuan Cheng, taking a seat cautiously and avoiding eye contact with the big boss. The intense pressure made him inwardly sigh, wondering who exactly this man was.

"You do not need to be so tense, we can get along just fine. Our collaboration in the future will be even more pleasant." The big boss, looking forward to their partnership, poured Yuan Cheng a glass of wine as a token of goodwill.

"Thank you!" Yuan Cheng accepted the wine, feeling less tense due to the friendly gesture.

In the past, due to his family background, Yuan Cheng had never been apprehensive interacting with anyone in the city. But now, he felt nervous. His confidence had vanished, replaced by fear. Yet he didn’t feel dishonored or frustrated, because the man in front of him emanated a profound inscrutability.

The big boss started the conversation. "This is our first meeting, but I already know you well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll answer as best as I can."

Swallowing hard, Yuan Cheng asked, "What are you exactly? You seem only a few years older than me, but many people refer to you as the big boss."

The big boss chuckled lightly. "Indeed, on the surface, it appears as though I’m only in my thirties. But in reality, I’m so old even I don’t know my exact age."

Yuan Cheng disbelieved, "How is that possible? There are birth records."

"I’m sorry, but birth records cannot stipulate my birth date; they cannot possibly contain records of someone born almost a thousand years ago," stated the big boss, following it up with a knowing smile.

"A thousand years ago? Not to question you, but that sounds far-fetched," expressed Yuan Cheng, a look of disbelief on his face. Unfazed by his skepticism, the big boss made an astonishing move—he crushed his wine glass, the glass shards cut his hand and blood began to flow.

Shocked at the gruesome sight, Yuan Cheng blurted out, "What are you doing?" Just as he finished his question, he witnessed an incredulous scene— the hand that was bleeding moments ago healed rapidly, even the blood seemed to flow back.

Incredible, truly incredible. Yuan Cheng was dumbfound, he could not contain himself and asked, "Who exactly are you?"

"As you see, I have lived for nearly a thousand years, I am the only immortal being in this world. This is why many people from the realms of politics and commerce stand with me, for I offer not only power, money, women, but also a lifetime like mine." The boss spoke with a great deal of self-confidence, leaving an impression deep within Yuan Cheng’s heart.

The boss continued, "As long as you serve me, I can grant you everything you wish for, even far beyond your expectations."

"Is there really such thing as immortality in this world?" Yuan Cheng still didn’t dare to believe it. The big boss gave a faint smile, took out a gun from his body, and shot a chair on the spot. Then he pointed the gun at his own head and fired another shot.

The soundproofing of the club was very good, so the gunshots did not reach the outside, but it startled Yuan Cheng. He then saw the big boss standing there unaffected, with a calm expression on his face.

The bullet that originally hit the boss’s head came out, and the wound also healed. All these indicated one thing–the man in front of Yuan Cheng truly possessed the ability of immortality.

Yuan Cheng believed, he totally believed, and he finally understood why so many people were willing to stand on the side of the big boss. Immortality was irresistibly attractive.

Seeing Yuan Cheng so shocked he couldn’t get back to his senses for a while pleased the big boss, so he continued. "When I first met your father, he was just an insignificant man. I helped him eliminate the rivals step by step, helped him climb to the top step by step. If I want to control this city, I need someone like your father who holds substantial power in this city."

After hearing this, Yuan Cheng just pretended to nod his head, "If I am not wrong, you don’t have the patience to cultivate someone like my father step by step to climb up, so you need the children of people like my father, raised by my father, to continue to help you control this city."

"Exactly, that’s why I can’t let you go elsewhere. I need someone of your talent." Having said that, the boss lifted his glass, looking appreciative, "Among the generation of young people in the transition, currently I’m watching you the most."

"Thank you for your appreciation." Yuan Cheng pretended to be very happy and clinked glasses with the big boss.

Yuan Cheng thought of a problem, "Since you, the big boss, could cultivate your people to control the rights of this city, could it be possible that you also cultivated others to control the rights of this country."

In response, the boss shook his head, "I used to foster such people indeed. However, I found that this person’s power was inflated so much, and he was reluctant to serve me. On the contrary, he wanted to fight me, and expected me to work for him. Thereafter, I made him disappear from the world and then I realized one thing - there’s no controlling people with too much power."

Yuan Cheng just showed understanding, pondering who knows what in his mind.

Afterwards, Yuan Cheng talked with the boss for a very long time. He was the first to leave the club. The people waiting outside saw Yuan Cheng leaving, did not follow him, but continued to wait for the next one to come out, who was very likely the person who met with Yuan Cheng today.

Soon enough, as expected, another man came out of the club. The follower immediately picked up his camera and took pictures, but the moment he pressed the shutter, the boss became alert.

"Why is he here?" The boss immediately turned around and charged straight toward him.

"Really?" The follower didn’t know how he was exposed. He was terrified and drew his gun, but it was too late. The boss moved faster and punched through the car window glass, hitting the follower’s head hard.

After a while, Su Hui arrived at the scene. She saw two cars parked. One was parked by the side of the road with severely damaged windows, obviously from being violently attacked.

The other car was parked in the middle of the road, where a woman was trembling with fear, seemingly still in shock.

Su Hui went up to investigate, she found that her colleague who was responsible for tracking was already... even the gun in his hand was twisted, and the camera he carried with him was gone.

With such terrifying strength, Su Hui guessed what had happened. She then went to see the woman in the other car, wanting to know what she had seen. However, when Su Hui came closer and saw the woman’s face, she was astonished that the woman was Liu Yao.

Liu Yao did not expect that she just wanted to be a good wife by sending some things Yuan Cheng had left in the car, and stumbled into such an incident.

Su Hui hurriedly asked, "What happened, Liu Yao? What did you see?"

"I..." Liu Yao was about to speak, but the blare of the horn interrupted. Soon a group responsible for this area appeared. They told Su Hui to stand down and that they were taking over. They then took Liu Yao away.
