Chapter 85: Chapter 85: The Lolita from Zaun_1

Mu You frowned at the blank row on the cardboard, trying to discern the traces where the words used to be.

But there were none. The words hadn’t simply evaporated like ink in a magic trick. They had been truly erased, with no trace of them ever having been written.

Before he could understand why, Mu You discovered something even more terrifying: the information he had memorized was also rapidly disappearing from his brain!

His phone number, body temperature, visiting time, and even his name... one by one, they were being erased from his memory.

This process was silent and unnoticeable. It all happened before Mu You even realized it.

By the time he noticed, the only information remaining in his mind was a name, a name he could hardly remember.

"His name was Lu... Lu what again..."

Mu You tried hard to recall the other character in the name, but it eluded him. His heart pounded in fear. This power was terrifying - it could erase a person’s memory without them even noticing.

Before he could think any further, he noticed his last surname was also fading away. He quickly pushed his pocket watch.

Time rewound, back to five seconds ago.

The memory in Mu You’s mind became clear again. Though he couldn’t recall the rest of the information, at least he still remembered the name: Lu Yao!

The five seconds quickly elapsed, and his memory started to blur again.

In desperation, Mu You grabbed a pen and began to write the name on the cardboard, repeating it over and over.

Then, before his own eyes, the names he wrote gradually disappeared one by one, starting from the front. The speed of their disappearance accelerated, almost catching up with his writing speed.

Mu You had no choice but to quicken his writing speed, while repeating ’Lu Yao’ in his mind.

It felt like a mental race to him. He was running desperately in front, and an unclear figure was chasing after him from behind.

Every time he was about to be caught, Mu You would push the pocket watch, return to five seconds ago, and his memory would deepen a bit.

The lollipop girl sitting behind the counter was confused. The guy in front of her was fine just a moment ago until he suddenly widened his bloodshot eyes and began scribbling a name on the cardboard like a psychotic serial killer from a movie. Isn’t this scene too strange?

The lollipop girl leaned back in fear, tightly holding her phone, ready to call the police.

But Mu You had no time to pay attention to her. After these repetitive ’races’ for about four or five minutes, he finally felt that the speed at which his memory and the disappearing words were slowing down.

Is it giving up?

Mu You’s eyes lit up, proving that the opponent’s ability also had its limits!

However, just as he heaved a sigh of relief, thinking he had ’victoriously’ managed to remember the name, he received a call on his phone with an unfamiliar number: 666.

Mu You: ???

What kind of a weird number is this?

Confused, Mu You walked away a bit and answered the phone: "Hello!"

"Damn, why are you such a hassle? Can you please stop looking for me? Do you know how much it drains me to hide my identity?"

"Huh???"

Mu You on the other end was clueless. The woman who called herself ’old mom’ had a very immature voice.

"Are you Lu Yao?" Mu You asked.

"Yes, it’s me!"

"Who are you exactly? Are you the one who planted the USB?" Mu You asked directly.

"What do you think? I gave you an activation code for free. We’re even now after saving each other that day! You saved me, and then I saved you. We’re even!"

"That day on the rooftop... So, you really are the little girl in the game?" Mu You asked.

"I feel sorry for your intelligence. I’ve made it clear, and you’re still asking questions!"

"Sigh..."

Listening to the child-like voice acting old on the phone, Mu You couldn’t help twitching. Why is this kid so annoying, almost as if her real-life character is based on her in-game text...

Mu You held back his irritation and continued to inquire, "Why did you give me the activation code for free?"

"Pah, it’s all because of that bastard Werewolf. It’s been chasing me for three months. It’s so desperate!" The girl on the other side continued her litany of curses.

"So you chose me? You wanted me to help you against the Werewolf?" asked Mu You.

"You could say that, but it’s not like you’re the only one I gave an activation code to," the person on the other end said.

"So, you’ve given many people activation codes?"

Mu You paused, suddenly remembering something, "Wait, where did you get so many activation codes?"

Even for a beta player, the game activation code can only be acquired when downloading the game, right? Where did she get the additional activation codes? From her words, it seems that there are quite a few...

"That’s none of your business. It’s my secret!"

The girl lightly dispelled the most significant gossip with just a sentence.

"I’ve distributed four or five activation codes in and around the city, hoping to cultivate some new players to cope with the Werewolf. However, you are the only one growing. The others either quit because of the game’s life system, or sold my activation code at high prices... The most annoying one is a woman from your neighboring district, who not only sold my code but also strangely contacted the Werewolf. When I rushed to save her, it was already too late. I was speechless..."

"So that’s what happened..."

Mu You finally understood what caused the homicide in the neighboring district that day.

The Werewolf stabbed the woman and happened to come across the little girl who went to rescue the woman and had a fight on the rooftop.

The little girl was supposed to lose and got beheaded by the Werewolf. However, Mu You’s intervention completely swung things the other way.

"The Werewolf’s skin, ’Butcher Wolf,’ has Wolverine-like recovery capabilities if his heart is not damaged," Mu You thought for a moment and decided to share this piece of intelligence.

Since they were clarifying things, at least regarding fighting the Werewolf, they were technically two sides of the same coin. It was for the best if more people knew about the Werewolf’s weakness.

"What? Damn! So that’s the reason why I couldn’t blow him up. The Werewolf is indeed a formidable opponent... However, knowing his weakness makes things a lot easier. So it’s the heart, good, I’m going to come up with a targeted curse spell to ’tenderize’ him to death..."

The little girl was cursing and seemed ready to end the call.

Before she could hang up, Mu You quickly interjected, "Wait a second!"

"What now?"

"Why doesn’t the game version you gave me include the forum?" Mu You seized the opportunity to question her.

"..."

The person on the other searched for words for a second, before replying, "I forgot!"

"Are you sure you forgot and not purposely didn’t include it?" Mu You smirked.

"Oh, stop with your questions, there are a lot of crap on the forum, it will only pollute your innocent minds like rookies and lead you astray!" The girl had a tone of ’I’m doing this for your own good’, confidently defending herself.
