Chapter 792: Chapter 397 - Have You Offended Him?_2
The werewolves howled and immediately counterattacked, pouncing toward the three figures that had revealed themselves, particularly the Ghost Captain who was deep within the wolf pack.
Mu You was just as decisive, switching into Phantom Thief mode after delivering a strike. As the wolves lunged at him, he transferred over to a duplicate a hundred meters away, leaving a Decoy duplicate behind, which was instantly torn to shreds by the fury of the werewolves.
"Chase them!" The Tyrant immediately ordered a pursuit, with a pack of werewolves tripping over each other to hunt down the three of them.
"Run!" On the other side, Mu You, who had just joined up with the Lion and Virgo, started running without any hesitation.
The three of them fled, hounded persistently by a pack of werewolves. Unfortunately for the wolves, the complex urban environment of the scene was much to the advantage of the runners. The three of them dashed unpredictably within the city, and after a while, the chasing wolves had not only failed to catch up but had been left far behind.
"Stop, don’t chase any further!"
The Tyrant, with a wave of his hand, commanded the werewolves to halt, his brow furrowing as he watched the direction in which the three figures had disappeared.
Because this direction was almost exactly the opposite of the correct route to Zone Two...
"What is that person trying to do?"
The pale-skinned young man walking up from behind, looking in the direction of the disappearance, was equally confused.
Logically, the opponents should hide as much as possible, tail them quietly, and thus find the fastest way out of Zone Two.
But they chose to reveal themselves instead. Though they had successfully caught them off guard and killed hundreds of werewolves, the existence of the revival mechanism rendered their attack unable to inflict any substantial damage. Beyond ’giving them a scare,’ their deliberate exposure served no practical purpose.
"Don’t bother with them, we move on!"
The Tyrant quickly made up his mind and signaled to the wolves at the rear, who once again entered full stride, pressing on towards the exit of Zone Two.
However, in order to prevent the opponents from discerning the correct route, they deliberately made a detour before embarking on the right path.
After running at full speed for ten minutes, the wolves arrived at an abandoned village area, surrounded by all manner of dilapidated low-lying buildings.
To the werewolves, these were clearly no obstacles. Like parkour experts, they nimbly traversed the buildings, not slowing down in the least.
But just as all the werewolves were about to pass through this area completely, a Chain Claw shot out from a hidden crevice in the rocks. Evading the wolf pack at a tricky angle, it precisely hooked onto a Red Giant Wolf on the edge of the pack.
The next second, the Red Blood Wolf was yanked back uncontrollably, pulled away from the wolf pack and tossed backward.
"Huh?"
The wolves halted, taken aback.
Some distance away, the Blood Wolf who had been yanked away quickly regained his bearings in mid-air and forcefully shook off the Chain Claw.
But before he could land, a strong pull came from the front, causing him to involuntarily fly forward again.
The wolf boy looked up in surprise to see a silver-white mech on top of a mound of dirt, the force of the pull coming from a disc on its chest that resembled a magnet.
The wolf-boy hastily prepared to retaliate upon landing.
But then a burst of frost shot out from the mech, and with a "clink," turned him into a chunk of ice.
Then, the frozen body of the wolf-boy fell and was caught by Mu You’s robotic arm. With a toss, the boy was thrown farther away from the pack of wolves.
Two robotic arms emerged immediately with rotating gun barrels at the front, releasing a dense barrage of energy bullets that all hit the wolf-boy.
At the same time, the Lion and the Virgo appeared on either side of Mu You. They chanted a series of low-level spells while dashing toward the distance, sending magical blast after magical blast onto the airborne werewolves without sparing a single speck of magical energy.
The wolf-boy frozen in ice could only feel countless magical lights exploding on him. Under the force of the counterattacks, he was batted around like a football, with the three of them continually blasting him farther away.
"Quick, help him!"
The wolves in the rear recovered and rushed forward to provide assistance.
But they were a step too late, and under the relentless barrage of the threesome, the life of the young boy evidently couldn’t hold out until the reinforcements arrived.
By the time the wolves finally caught up, there was only the body of a Blood Wolf left, while the three of them had long vanished into the complex maze of buildings in front, leaving no trace of their presence.
"Little Five, did you offend the Ghost Captain?"
The young werewolf quickly reincarnated nearby. As soon as he got up, he heard someone ask this question.
"No!"
The boy was bewildered. He himself had noticed, ever since the start of this battle, the Ghost Captain seemed to be particularly vindictive towards him.
Especially now that he thought carefully, he realized with a shock that he had been killed by the Ghost Captain six times already! He was definitely the one among all the werewolves who had been killed the most by the opponent! Four times in the Gloomy Swamp, and twice in succession after entering Sky City.
But, scratching his head in thought, the boy couldn’t recall when he had provoked the Captain.
"Probably just because you stand out too much, Little Five." The pale-skinned young man clapped him on the shoulder, "Remember to keep a low profile from now on."
The flaming red skin and larger frame of a Boiling Blood Wolf indeed stood out among a pack of wolves, and being a teenager, he was always at the front line of the battle like a hot-blooded protagonist in a manga, so, dying a few more times was somewhat understandable.
