Chapter 778: Chapter 392: It’s Just a Siege, No Need to Risk Your Life_3
When the surrounding vampires attacked, Cold Night did not resist at all. Instead, he fell to the ground in a sprawled-out position, allowing the vampires’ anger-fueled attacks to repeatedly land on him until he completely vanished in death.
With the fall of Cold Night, the assembly of vampires felt somewhat unsatisfied, glancing back at the scene.
At this moment, the other werewolves either lay dead or had fled. Those who remained merely those who had been grievously wounded and had lost their ability to resist; they were captured by the vampires and bound up as prisoners.
After the battle, the vampire group quickly cleaned up the battlefield, gathering once again beside Lin Xue.
"This way..."
Lin Xue took out a new map, glanced at the arrow direction on it, and led the vampire army in that direction.
This bloody battle came and went quickly, and in the blink of an eye, the scene was empty of people.
Unobserved by all, a lone bat quietly flew in, landing near the position where Cold Night had initially stayed. Upon landing, it transformed into the figure of May.
May wandered around the vicinity for a moment, quickly determined a direction, transformed again into a bat, and disappeared into the darkness.
...
Meanwhile, outside the abandoned ancient castle.
As soon as Lin Xue had appeared earlier, a group of map-bearing individuals had received news of the opening of the entrance to Sky City.
However, simultaneously, they also received news that the werewolf group led by Cold Night had been ambushed. After all, there were players in both groups. So, no matter which side encountered a problem, news could quickly reach the other side.
One of them hurriedly ran over to whisper something in the Tyrant’s ear.
The Tyrant quickly understood what had happened and frowned as he looked out at the Ghost Captain in the distance.
Clearly, the Blood Clan’s inner mole had been revealed. The enemy had reversed the scheme, using the mole to arrange a trap for them.
Moreover, nearly all of the vampires had shown up on the other side. That meant the Ghost Captain coming here alone was just a decoy to distract them.
He had to admit, the Ghost Captain’s commanding presence was strong. The moment he had appeared, their attention had been diverted, causing them to overlook everyone else.
With this in mind, the Tyrant rose, looking coldly across at the still impassive Ghost Captain.
The entrance was now open, and his remaining reservations had vanished.
The Tyrant gestured with a sweep of his hand: "Attack!"
At his command, a group of restless werewolves behind him rushed out, vying to be the first to charge at the Ghost Captain.
The Tyrant did not move, but watched carefully for the Ghost Captain’s next move.
He didn’t believe the Ghost Captain could still escape unscathed while facing thousands of werewolves at the same time?
Unexpectedly, the imagined fierce fight didn’t happen, because the Ghost Captain simply chose not to resist. Despite the multitude of attacking werewolves, he sat calmly in his chair, smiling across the distance.
Until the werewolves got close, and countless attacks rained down on him. In an instant, they tore him into shreds... or more aptly, wood chips.
"It’s a fake, like a doppelgänger!" a young man called out.
The Tyrant let out a sigh: "As expected, it wouldn’t be that easy..."
Wolf Poison’s attack would prevent a vampire from reviving. Hence, when the Tyrant saw that the Ghost Captain didn’t resist or change his skin in the face of the attack, he deduced that this might not be the real body.
Shaking his head, the Tyrant looked at the youth: "Where’s the thing?"
The youth had now found a sack from the wood chips spread all over the ground. He hurriedly opened the sack, searched through it, and finally took out a piece of a fragment.
"There’s only one map in it; it’s fragment number three..."
"Damn it!"
A collective curse spread among the werewolves.
Fragment number three was the one that had been stolen from them, and now it was returned to them as if to deliberately insult them...
At that moment, Cold Night’s communication device rang. The Tyrant connected the call and heard Cold Night’s voice reporting the details of what happened at the graveyard.
Everyone frowned after hearing that out of the 400 werewolves that went, only a little over 100 returned. The rest had either been killed or captured. Such great losses were quite significant.
What was even more terrifying was the Red Sickle Girl that Cold Night described. Her titan-like attack, which could directly assault the soul, was simply horrifying even just to hear about.
"How are you?" The Tyrant asked.
"I’m fine. They backed off at the end, but... we handed over the fragment..." Cold Night said, sounding somewhat ashamed.
"As long as you are alright." The Tyrant responded and then continued, "Don’t leave the city for now. Be careful of another ambush. Since they’ve made a move, they might have another trick up their sleeves."
"I understand..." answered Cold Night.
"Hmm." The Tyrant ended the call then turned to a Caucasian young man: "The Ghost Captain didn’t show up on the other side either."
"Hmm, this could be troublesome..." The Caucasian young man sighed.
"What’s the problem?" a werewolf young man asked in confusion, looking at them both.
"Think about it. The Ghost Captain, who is the enemy’s backbone, sent a doppelganger here to handle us, but he didn’t participate in the war on the other side. So, where did his real body go?"
Startled by the question, the young man pondered for a minute and then realized: "Entrance number nine?"
"Yes." The Caucasian young man nodded: "Actually, from the moment the enemy came alone and we brought out all the fragments and the opponent didn’t immediately reveal all of theirs, we were already at a disadvantage. That’s because, from that point onwards, the opening time of the entrance has been entirely under their control."
"This way, the enemy can simply wait in advance at entrance number nine. The moment the entrance opens, they can directly enter Sky City. In contrast, we would need time to rush from here to entrance number one, making us lag behind them."
"But..." The young man scratched his head, puzzled, "The enemy’s route still lacks fragment seven and eight, while we’ve collected all of ours. He can’t possibly be faster than us, right?"
"Lacking seven and eight? Have you forgotten which fragments we happened to pick up freely earlier?" The Caucasian man smiled at him.
Startled, the young man quickly understood, "You’re saying that third-party force..."
The two fragments they had picked up were number seven and eight.
According to their previous analysis, the third-party force had a copy of the map number five, and therefore must have a backup of seven and eight!
And since they announced the map number five, there’s a possibility that seven and eight could have been leaked as well.
"Regardless of whether the Ghost Captain had eliminated the third-party force and stolen backup copies of fragments seven and eight or whether he reached some cooperation agreement with the third-party force, there is a high probability that Ghost Captain has collected all the maps for the other route!"
"Ah? Is that even possible?" The young man couldn’t help but complain.
"Let’s dispense with the chatter then, and get to the entrance number one immediately."
The Tyrant spoke bluntly: "All stealth wolves should activate their abilities. Also, put away the fragments. Don’t leave them in Star Spirit World to prevent being tracked."
At the command, everyone acted accordingly. All the map fragments were transferred to Earth before several unique werewolves ran to various spots in the team and activated their stealth talents, rendering everyone invisible.
The Tyrant, on the other hand, invoked his War Fog. Under the double concealing methods, the group of werewolves utterly vanished from the spot, not even leaving a footprint behind.
