Chapter 618: Chapter 338: Tomb of the Grim Reaper_1

Light and shadows flickered, revealing the physical forms of Mu You and Lin Xue in the City Lord’s Castle of Dawn City.

The pet shop had announced closure for renovation since yesterday, and Lin Hai couldn’t make it due to other commitments, leaving no option but for Little Ya to tend the shop today.

On the other hand, considering the risks involved in the journey, it was not advisable to take as many people as possible. Their mysterious abilities remained unclear, and having more people would only be a burden.

Hence, Mu You didn’t even bring Little Spider and Little Phoenix on this journey. Only he, Lin Xue, and Vivian stepped through the gate.

Upon arriving at Dawn City, what stood before them now was a Level 2 City Lord’s Castle.

The circular tower rose like a sword towards the sky, beneath which lay an arched wall with decorated skylights. Green planted adorned the six conical corner towers. The exquisite statues around the hall lent a retro and mysterious style to the building.

Compared to the original gloomy and dilapidated Level 0 building, the City Lord’s Castle now indeed had the grandeur of a luxurious castle.

Mu You walked to the desk in the center and opened the book titled "City Lord’s Book".

Having collected the materials needed for upgrading to Level 3 earlier in the morning, he directly clicked on ’Upgrade’.

The castle rumbled, and then, as if controlled by an invisible hand, construction began automatically. Bricks, tiles, rocks, and mud conjured themselves and flew to their designated positions, each piece interlocking with each other. They watched as the appearance of the castle transformed rapidly.

Upgrading to required a whole day. Mu You stopped paying attention after a few glances. After rummaging around the castle, he quickly found Shadow Wolf in the backyard kitchen.

When he found Shadow Wolf, she was sitting cross-legged on the ground, with a table in front of her laden with dishes filled with various kinds of seasonings. She was holding a plate with uniformly cut juicy roasted meat.

Contrary to the stereotype of her wolfing down her food, Shadow Wolf was holding a bamboo skewer with meat slices. After dipping each slice into every dish, she would then elegantly chewed and swallowed her food.

Upon hearing footsteps, Shadow Wolf turned her head and was taken aback when she saw Mu You at the door.

"My lord, is it time for battle?" she asked. She was aware that they were supposed to head off to Dark City for a mission today.

"Oh, no hurry. Carry on," Mu You shook his head. Lin Xue’s task would only commence in the afternoon. There was still time.

Mu You had only read Shadow wolf’s name in texts before this. He took a moment to take in her appearance now that he had met her in person.

At that moment, Shadow Wolf was wearing a dark green light helmet, her high ponytail popping out from the back end of the helmet. It bobbed in rhythm with her long pointed elf ears.

A Silver Moon Scimitar hung by her waist, and a Purple Longbow and Elf Quiver laid beside her.

Unlike the typical Forest Elf—with fair skin and a slender figure—Shadow Wolf’s skin was a tad darker, somewhat resembling a Dark Elf. While maintaining a slender figure, her body emanated strength and explosiveness. This was evident from her subtly exposed abdominal muscles and taut legs. She was born to be a warrior, ideally riding on a nightblade leopard, loosing arrows from her longbow under the moonlit forest.

After informing Shadow Wolf about their departure time, Mu You left the castle and found Scarecrow in the central square.

The Scarecrow was now at Level 2. Compared to the initial entry-level Scarecrow, the daily experience limit stayed the same, while the number of hits required per experience point dropped from ten to five—effectively doubling the efficiency.

Once the castle completed the upgrade to Level 3 the next day, the Scarecrow could level up to Level 3 too. This would increase the daily experience limit to 1500 points and unlock a ’multiplayer farming’ feature that can accommodate up to ten million players.

That meant that up to ten million players could ’farm’ the Scarecrow simultaneously. The Scarecrow would automatically open separate virtual training grounds for each player, allowing them to farm individually without interference.

From Level 3, the Scarecrow would alternately increase the daily experience limit and farming efficiency all the way up to Level 10, and continually increasing the capacity of ’multiplayer farming’.

At Level 10, the Scarecrow’s daily experience limit per player would reach 3000 points. Every attack would award four experience points, and it could accommodate up to eighty million players simultaneously.

Other than the tripled experience limit, the significantly increased efficiency of farming meant that attacking the Scarecrow would consume action points—one point per minute.

At an average attack frequency of three attacks per second, raiding a Level 1 Scarecrow would take 55 minutes and consume 55 action points to gain 1000 experience points per day.

The efficiency ratio was mediocre and not as rewarding as mining, which offered ample experience, reputation, and additional rewards.

That was why the Scarecrow was not contested despite being available for numerous days—it simply was not cost-effective.

Nevertheless, for a Level 10 Scarecrow, it would merely take a little over four minutes—or five action points—to earn the maximum daily experience of 3000 points!

This was worth fighting over by everyone, and Mu You believed that no player would miss the opportunity to take shots at the Scarecrow daily. This would become their main source of experience for leveling up in the future.
