Chapter 614: Chapter 336: Fool’s Revenge_2
[...Repair completed! Current Mechanical Health: 100%.]
Sure enough, while Mu You took a sip of water, the mecha was back to life with full health.
Now, it was time for his counterattack!
At that moment in Clockwork City, the Goblins were still watching the screen.
From Sand Spider’s perspective, the mecha slowly stood up, raised its arms towards the front, and a spiral-shaped gun barrel popped out from each arm.
This was not an uncommon sight; many people on the scene recognized it: The rapid-fire shotgun of the Rat Exterminator Robot!
The next second, both gun barrels fired at the same time, and the scene instantly filled with darting tongues of flame as countless energy bullets danced in the air.
The projection in front of everyone suddenly went dark; moreover, the projection devices of other exploration robots around also went out one after another.
In just a few seconds, all the Sand Spiders in the ruins were wiped out!
The Goblins were dumbfounded - what on earth was this?
It obviously looked like a mecha, it couldn’t possibly be a creature, but why wouldn’t the mecha obey commands? It even threatened to hold a Goblin elder hostage. Could it be that this mecha has developed self-awareness and learned to rebel?
"Boom!"
Before the Goblins on the scene could figure out what was happening, there was a sudden blast from inside the distant ruins.
The explosion blasted an exit over ten meters wide from the inside of the ruins. A fiery beam of light shot straight into the sky at a 45-degree angle from the exit, disappearing into the air.
Seconds later, after the light dissipated, a white figure leaped out like a bolt of lightning. After slowing down in mid-air, everyone saw that it was the same white and silver mecha from the earlier video.
Seeing the enemy appear, the combat mecha units below immediately raised their weapons and aimed at the mecha above them.
However, before they had a chance to fire, there was a sound from below. A grenade, which had materialized out of nowhere, rolled into the center of the group of mechas.
The next second, the grenade exploded, and a powerful blast wave spread out from the epicenter, sending the closely packed mechas tumbling uncontrollably in all directions - the sight was rather grand.
A repulsion grenade, as the name suggests, creates a strong repulsion force upon detonation, blowing all enemy targets in the vicinity away.
Despite its small size, its power is immense. The area affected by the blast can reach up to fifty meters in diameter.
Just one single grenade had cleared a large enough landing space for Mu You.
The next moment, Mu You’s mecha landed, immediately raised its double gun barrels, and began to fire in a 360-degree rotation.
Flames spewed, energy bullets danced, and all the mechas around him were hit at least once before they could ready their counterattacks, sending them all into a state of chaos.
Then, countless mechas opened fire on Mu You in retaliation. However, with the 75% deflection rate caused by their chaotic state and the mechas’ close proximity to one another, these attacks were thrown into disarray before hitting Mu You. A friendly-fire scenario ensued; one attacked another, while others were caught off guard, triggering a chain of explosions. As a result, many mechas were destroyed and exploded, causing even more nearby mechas to explode...
In contrast, all stray bullets and artillery shells aiming at Mu You were blown out of the air by the shotgun before they could get close. After a long series of fires, he remained unscathed.
It had to be said that the auto-aiming circuit was incredibly strong!
Even though Mu You was just idling in reality, he didn’t even have to control anything. All he had to do was keep firing at full power and leave the rest to the system AI; no matter how recklessly he shot, he would always hit something.
It goes without saying that the combination of mecha skin and game AI was a perfect match. Human brains excel in subjective initiative but often fail to maximize mechanical potential in controlling machines. Many things simply can’t be processed by the human brain, but AI can.
So the combat power demonstrated by game AI controlling a mecha skin did not fall short of Mu You’s self-operation. At this point, Mu You simply activated the game character’s autonomous combat mode and only made some crucial directional decisions.
"Elder Barney, what...what is this?"
At this point, the Goblin commanders on the outskirts were dumbfounded. One of the Goblins blankly turned to Barney and asked.
The image they had seen earlier might have contained errors, but now this thing had sprung directly into everyone’s sight. They could all see clearly that it was indeed just a mecha, but it was launching a savage attack on them as if it had a self-consciousness. The combat power it exhibited was rather terrifying: it was fighting against an entire mecha army without being at a disadvantage!
"This is...a mechanical lifeform..."
Seeing the scene before his eyes, Old Goblin Barney sighed in regret, a flash of pain and guilt crossing his face.
"Mechanical lifeform...a machine with a life?"
"How is that possible?"
"Elder, are you joking..."
...
All around, exclamations of surprise rang out. The goblins exchanged glances, all instinctively beginning to question this.
Looking at the puzzled expressions on the faces of the younger goblins around him, Barney gave a bitter smile. Of course, he understood why they were questioning this.
Mechanical lifeforms were things that only existed in legends. Allowing non-living entities to possess souls was the realm of deities, a taboo that ordinary living beings could absolutely not touch. But this taboo was realized by one person more than a thousand years ago...
During that era, Barney was merely an entry-level alchemy apprentice, working under that person’s guidance.
At that time, the man had proposed the idea of loading souls into machines.
No matter how astonishing the idea, the goblins were uninterested because it was something only they could achieve due to their special talents. For other races, it was still an impossible dream.
What the goblins were more interested in were the two other research projects he was simultaneously conducting: the Eternal Power Furnace and Fusion Robots.
Fusion Robots, as the name suggests, are mechanical bodies that can haphazardly mix any alchemical equipment together.
Barney’s current creation, the Destroyer, was inspired by that man’s ideas. However, his own skill level was limited, and he could only accomplish a small degree of fusion. The man’s idea, on the other hand, was complete fusion: any alchemical entity could be used immediately!
Back then, all the goblins thought he was dreaming, including Barney himself. They all believed that a mech capable of fusing everything together was impossible to exist.
In response to everyone’s skepticism, the man merely laughed and did not bother to argue.
Latter, the Eternal Power Furnace came into being, and it’s power far exceeded anyone’s expectations. Just this one furnace could drive all the alchemical devices in the entire city!
All the goblins were enthralled by its wonder. Some secretly calculated that if the goblin race could keep this device, their civilization could advance by several hundred years in a flash...
Under such a massive temptation, the goblins’ greed rose and they committed an act of betrayal. They ambushed and killed the man and stole his achievements. This incident was buried in history forever with the eradication of the Clan of Fools...
Until today!
Barney sighed as he looked at the silver mecha in the distance. Both the fusion mecha and the mechanical lifeform, which they once thought impossible, were all realized in this mecha!
At this point, it was too late for regrets and melancholy.
Barney was well aware of the identity of the person housed inside this mecha: it must be one of those Fool’s offspring who had recently emerged. They had returned here in their ancestor’s legacy with the goal of revenge and reclaiming the Eternal Power Furnace!
Thinking of this, the guilt in Barney’s eyes disappeared, replaced by a cold ruthlessness.
Now, he was one of the rulers of the goblin race and had to take responsibility for the whole clan. Regardless of whether it was right or wrong, since this person was now standing on the opposite side, they could only be eliminated!
"Order all the long-range mechas to cease fire and send in the fighting robots. Seal off the entire city and make sure he is killed here!" Barney issued new orders with a serious expression.
If it were just a simple fusion mecha, it would be fine. But according to the man’s original idea, this new type of mecha would inherit the Fools’ inherent ability to disguise, enabling it to masquerade as other mechas at any time.
This was what truly chilled the goblins. This entity posed too great a threat to Clockwork City. If it escaped today, they would be kept on their toes henceforth!
