Chapter 496: Chapter 293 We Really Didn’t Plan to Break the Jail_2
Just as the team led by the Son of Heaven landed, another jingling of chains was heard not far away.
A few seconds later, another prison cage descended from the sky, landing on the platform.
When the door opened, ten people dressed like pirates emerged, led by Jack.
The two groups glanced at each other but didn’t say a word. However, the air was filled with a tumultuous wave of contemptuous snorts and smirks. It was obvious that neither party liked the other.
A regiment from the Octopus King’s force was quickly encircling all twenty of them at once.
"We’re here to visit prisoners!"
A member of Son of Heaven’s team, Smiley, hurriedly produced the visiting pass they had obtained upon entering the prison and showed it to the Octopus soldiers.
Someone from the pirate side also showed their prison visit permit.
After inspection, the Octopus Soldiers acknowledged their identities.
But the Octopus Soldiers didn’t lower their weapons even then. One Octopus King took the lead, while the others, holding their weapons on guard, surrounded them, watching their every movement.
Everyone was quite annoyed at being watched like criminals by the Octopus soldiers, but there was no other way. This was prison visitation for you. The fact that they were not put in handcuffs or leg irons meant that their visitation fee had been somewhat taken into account.
A few dozen octopuses posed no threat to the people here, but if they dared to react, far more serious consequences would ensue.
For the moment, they had no choice but to obediently allow themselves to be escorted by the Octopus Soldiers into the prison.
"Hurry up, stop dawdling. Remember, you only have one hour!" the lead Octopus reminded everyone aloud as he looked back.
They were currently on the fourth level of the prison, a place usually obscured by bone-chilling cold. However, the means of producing the extreme cold had been temporarily suspended as they had just paid their visitation fees. In an hour, the cold would return, which was why they could move around as they pleased now.
Following the pace of the Octopus Soldiers, the visitors soon reached the outer regions of the fourth floor and eventually stopped in front of a prison cell.
"You said the accomplice was imprisoned in cell number 4301?" Son of Heaven turned to confirm with the group of pirates next to him.
"Yes, 4301 is correct..." Jack looked up and saw number 4301 marked above the cell door. The sentence was indeed 100 years, but...
Upon seeing the round, chubby boy in the cell, his mouth full of greasy KFC, Jack couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was amiss...
"Damn, he’s munching on KFC? It’s got to be this guy!" A pirate jeered under his breath.
But the others all frowned at the pirate’s remark: The chap must’ve been a game character who had ended up in jail. Did game characters even need to eat?
"However, the fragment is directing us here..."
Smiley pulled out a solitary piece of a map and approached the cell. He watched as the arrow on the back of the fragment found its target in the cell, indicating that there was indeed another fragment in the cell.
"Uh... Are you guys also sent by my dad?" The chubby kid in the cell finally noticed the crowd outside the door, and his eyes lit up.
"Also? What do you mean? Has someone been here before?" Smiley quickly noted the unusual phrasing.
"This person doesn’t seem to be a player..." Son of Heaven spoke up at that moment.
Others, hearing this, quickly inspected the chubby kid but found no ID or other information, which made it clear that he wasn’t a player, but a native.
"Then who is this person? How did they end up in cell 4301?" someone asked out of instinct.
No one answered, but a name was on the tip of everyone’s tongue: The son from the Dragon Knight Pirate Group who had been caught and sentenced to a hundred years...
"Who cares about his identity? All we need is the fragment!"
With a grunt, a demon walked up to the cell and started banging on the door, shouting in the Star Spirit Language, "Hey, kiddo, where’s the fragment?"
"Fragment? What fragment?" The chubby boy in the cell looked utterly lost.
"Quit playing dumb! The map must be on you!"
"Map... Oh, you mean this?"
Realizing what the demon was referring to, the kid pulled out a sheet of map shrouded in black mist from his pocket.
"The fragment!"
The object in the boy’s hand made everyone’s eyes light up, and many instinctively lurched forward.
"Yes, that’s it! Hand it over!" The demon shouted hastily, reaching into the cell for the object.
Surprisingly, the boy quickly put the object back in his pocket. "No way. You must help me escape from prison first. Only then will I give this to you!"
"Quickly defeat these Octopus Soldiers and snatch the keys. Then, I can be set free!" added the boy, egging the visitors on.
However, he said this openly, and not just the visitors but also the Octopus Kings behind them heard every word loud and clear.
All at once, every Octopus readied their weapons as if they were facing a formidable enemy. They held their weapons trained on the group, raising their tentacles in preparation to pounce.
"Calm down, it’s a misunderstanding. Yes, a misunderstanding. We really aren’t plotting to break out of prison!" Smiley quickly clarified to the Octopus Soldiers poised for battle.
Unfortunately, the Octopus Soldiers remained on high alert. Some even emitted a unique sound signaling reinforcements. This ended up bringing a large group of Octopus soldiers to the scene.
"Never mind them. Our goal here is only to collect the fragments. Everyone, bring out your fragment," the Son of Heaven said, looking at the person by his side.
