Chapter 461: Chapter 280: The Strongest Prison in History_3

[After lingering in front of the door for a few times and confirming that no one has escaped, the Octopus Soldiers left....]

Even though these Octopus Soldiers are said to be intelligent, their IQ seems quite low, similar to the rigid computer AI that can only execute some simple and inflexible commands: patrolling non-stop. If they see someone escaping, they’ll beat them up and throw them back into the prison.

However, they don’t know how to dig deeper into obvious anomalies, nor do they intend to raise any alerts about them.

[With a ’click’, you unlocked the cell door.]

[With a ’click’, you unlocked the shackle on your feet.]

[You pushed the door and walked out of the prison!]

You successfully escaped from what is touted as the toughest prison in history so effortlessly!

Now you just need to make sure not to get caught again.

Mu You took out the Underwater Prison Map obtained from the beaver and began to navigate around the prison according to the map of the first level.

[You activated the Hermit Card and moved about inside the first layer of the prison whilst remaining invisible...]

[You arrived at the cell no.1189, you heard footsteps from the Octopus Soldier coming from around the corner ahead. You choose to...]

[You stood still against the wall, and soon entered a deep invisibility state.]

[A patrol of Octopus Soldiers passed by without noticing you.]

These Octopus Soldiers all have anti-invisibility capabilities, but they have no means against deep invisibility.

Next, Mu You spent a lot of time exploring the entire first level of the Underwater Prison, but unfortunately found no surprising gains.

The first floor holds only minor criminals, those who would be released after a few days, which is why the first floor is built rather crude with no good things that catch his eyes.

Much to Mu You’s annoyance, the entrance from the first to the second level of the prison is heavily guarded by hundreds of Octopus Soldiers, and there was no chance to pass through even using invisibility.

Without a choice, Mu You had to return to his cell.

However, he didn’t return to his cell directly. His cell wasn’t in a good location at the center of the entire first level, and was patrolled by Octopus Soldiers frequently, which wasn’t convenient for action. So, Mu You decided to move to another cell.

[You arrived at cell no.1999, there is no one in it. This cell is empty.]

[You entered the cell and locked it from inside.]

Cell no.1999 is located at the upper right corner on the map, one of the most remote cells on the entire first level with a very low patrol frequency. Moreover, all the neighboring cells are also empty which means he could leave at any time he wanted. Very convenient.

Just as he was thinking, another prompt popped up in the game.

[A patrol of Octopus Soldiers came along and suddenly stopped in front of your cell...]

"Huh?" Mu You paused.

What’s going on? Did they find out that he changed his cell? Do these Octopus Soldiers have that level of intelligence?

["Cell no.1999, zero days left in sentence, sentence served and due for release." You heard the words of an Octopus Soldier.]

[Only then did you notice that at the top of each cell on the first level, there are numbers ranging from 0-7. This is the number that represents the remaining days in a sentence, which decreases by 1 at midnight each day. The Octopus Soldiers determine the remaining days of the sentence for each cell based on this number. If there are people in a cell with the number 0, they would release the prisoners.]

"..."

Mu You had thought that his sentence was personal, and wouldn’t change regardless of the cell he moved to. As it turned out, the sentence was determined through the cell’s number... In other words, if he wanted to stay in the prison, he couldn’t just pick any cell freely. He had to go to cells that still had remaining days in their sentences, or change the numbers on the cells in advance.

[An Octopus Soldier walked up to your cell, unlocked it, and prepared to escort you out for release. You choose to...]

[Leave the prison obediently], [Break free and run], [Assault the prison guard].

The prison guard wanted to release him from prison, however, Mu You didn’t want to leave. This was because it took him a great deal of effort to have trained his handcuffs well. If he got released only to reenter, everything had to start all over again. That would be too troublesome.

"Assault the prison guard!"

[You didn’t wish to be released, thus you chose to assault the prison guard.]

[You threw a heavy punch onto the Octopus Soldier’s face and then followed it up with a shoulder throw that floored him.]

[The surrounding Octopus Soldiers noticed you assaulting the guard, and rushed at you immediately in fury. You were soon restrained by the octopus tentacles, unable to move.]

[The leading Octopus Soldier declared your new crime: Assaulting the prison guard, one level up in sentence severity. You would be sent to the second level of the Underwater Prison to serve a three-month sentence!]

[You were treated as a dangerous individual by the Octopus Soldiers and were escorted directly to the second level of the prison.]

[You were locked in cell no.2506, with 90 as the displayed sentence duration on it.]

[The cells at the second level of the prison were a lot more spacious than those on the first. They were equipped with windows made of special materials and standalone bathrooms. Through the windows, one could see the various types of fish passing by from time to time under the sea.]

[An Octopus Soldier wearing a chef hat passed by your cell, throwing a portion of ’prison meal’ into your cell.]

[Prison Meal: The food specifically supplied to prisoners on the second level and below in the Underwater Prison. It contains sparse nutrition sufficient to maintain basic satiety. It is considered the bare minimum of magic food. Consumption will add +5 to your action points, rots within an hour, and only one meal is supplied per day.]

Mu You’s eyes lit up.

The second level sure is great. Not only has the cell been upgraded, but meals are also included!

It may only add 5 action points and only one meal is supplied each day.

But he can change cells!

Each cell provides one meal, which means if he keeps changing cells, wouldn’t he be endlessly freeloading for action points?
