Chapter 459: Chapter 280: The Strongest Prison in History_1
[You wrestle with a drunk pirate, throwing punches at each other’s faces...]
[Both of you are soon battered and bruised...]
Mu You didn’t use a vampire skin, but a basic believer’s skin.
This pirate is only level 12, with average attributes. Without magic, Mu You’s strength and agility are slightly superior to his opponent’s; this gives him an advantage in a street fight. He was able to quickly diminish the pirate’s HP.
Of course, fighting is not the goal; the most critical part is to be imprisoned.
This place is so strictly regulated, there should be plenty of law enforcement officers.
As expected, a few minutes after the fight started, a notification pops up in the game.
[A group of fully armed Octopus Soldiers rush toward you in response to the disturbance. When they get close, they quickly surround you.]
[The lead Octopus Soldier raises its weapon and demands you to stop fighting. Your choices...]
The options below: either to [Surrender] or [Ignore the Octopus Soldier and continue fighting], or [Attack the Octopus Soldier].
"I surrender."
Mu You chose to directly surrender.
Attacking the Octopus Soldiers would be equivalent to assaulting a cop, which would be a bigger offense. He only plans to spend a day or two inside for now, with the intention of checking out the situation and confirming whether the task can be completed. Obviously, the lighter offense was chosen.
While choosing, Mu You took the opportunity to examine the attributes of the Octopus Soldiers.
[Octopus Soldier (level 11):] Mass-produced army of the Octopus King, Zubaiz. They possess a certain level of intelligence and considerable combat power, with over ten thousand members. They are responsible for overseeing and maintaining order in Naxx Island. Attack power: 120-140, defensive power: 75, HP: 7500, abilities: Octopus Entangle, Octopus Whip, Ink Spray, True Sight.]
"The attack power is so high!"
Mu You looked surprised. A level 11 monster has over a hundred attack power, almost caught up with level 20 wild creatures. It’s abnormally high.
Besides, the HP and abilities are also impressive. And there are over ten thousand such creatures!
Keeping the peace on an island, they’re more than enough.
[You and the drunk pirate are each wrapped in an Octopus Soldier’s tentacle, raised into the air, and escorted to the entrance of the Underwater Prison in the center of Naxx Island.]
[During the escort, the lead Octopus Soldier announces your sentences: Street fight, according to the circumstances, each sentenced to 48 hours of confinement. Location of imprisonment: Underwater Prison first floor.]
[You are taken to ’Octopus Judgement,’ into a deep underground passage.]
[Being escorted...]
It seems that the Underwater Prison doesn’t require swimming down -- there’s a passage connected with the island’s underground area. After being ’escorted’ for about ten minutes, they finally arrive at the destination.
[You and the drunk pirate are taken to the first floor of the Underwater Prison.]
[This prison is built out of deep-sea granite, with wide underground space. Statues of Octopus King are seen everywhere. Along the corridors in every direction, there are nearly a thousand cells of different sizes, making it look like a complex maze. Those with minor offenses serve a prison term varying between one and seven days are all incarcerated here.]
[You are fitted with Heavy Foot Shackles.]
[You are fitted with Magic Addiction Handcuffs.]
[You and the drunk pirate are locked into cells No. 1103 and 1104, respectively.]
[You feel powerless and heavy-footed, as if lead is poured into your feet, making movement difficult. The magic power within you is completely absorbed, leaving you a little dazed due to magic depletion.]
[After giving you a stern warning, the Octopus Soldiers turn and leave.]
He made it into prison smoothly, got fitted with shackles, and his body seemed to undergo some changes.
Only after the Octopus Soldiers left did Mu You have the time to check his status.
[Magic Addiction Handcuffs:] A type of shackle made from magic addiction bugs and special metal. Magic addiction bugs are a kind of creature that craves pure magic power. Upon putting on these handcuffs, the bugs will immediately suck up all the magic power from the wearer’s body, and continue to feed on any recovered magic power. Chance of unlocking: 0.5%; Failure to unlock will trigger an alarm.
[Heavy Foot Shackles:] Magical foot shackles that increase in weight with speed. The quicker you move, the heavier the shackles become, thus preventing any attempts at escape. Chance of unlocking: 0.72%; Failure to unlock will trigger an alarm.
[Cell:] The cell of the Underwater Prison is equipped with a special barrier that induces weakness and sleepiness in any creature within, making them unable to move their limbs. Chance of unlocking: 1.12%; Failure to unlock will trigger an alarm.]
"So, that’s what’s going on..."
After reading the text explanations, Mu You nodded in understanding. He’d wondered before: the prison was supposed to be capable of blocking a prisoner’s magic, but what level of artifact could selectively block magic?
He now understood that it wasn’t directly silencing magic, but indirectly achieving the same effect by draining all the magic power from a prisoner’s body with a kind of bug.
This was actually more effective than regular magic barriers because no matter how advanced the magic barrier is, there’s always a chance to break the seal. But once the magic power is drained, no matter how strong your skills are, you won’t be able to use them.
Handcuffs that drain magic power, plus shackles that restrict movement, and a fatigue-inducing cell on the outside to prevent breakouts through brute force.
The combination of these three could pretty much shut down all possible escape routes.
