Chapter 229: Chapter 197 Synthesis Furnace (6200 words)_1
Gemini once again plunged into the water, and the four merfolk below immediately rushed up and frenziedly nipped at his feet.
Just when Gemini had managed to drive away the few merfolk around him, a wave of magic fluctuations surrounded him. Once he realized something was amiss and tried to escape, it was already too late.
A water prison silently enveloped him.
Underwater, where it is a natural environment, the formation of the Water Prison Technique was silent and undetectable.
The Gemini, trapped in the water prison, could do nothing but passively wait for the water prison to end. Unfortunately, of course, there was water in the water prison, and his predicament of imminent suffocation was not alleviated in any way.
At the same time, the water prison was continuously absorbing his magic power. Gemini hurriedly took a potion, but the same type of recovery potions had a cooldown, and drinking another potion of the same type shortly after the first would be ineffective.
This was why, as an elite & profound wizard, Rode always carried various forms of life magic potions on himself, to circumvent the common cooldown.
However, Gemini simply could not match Rode’s wealth and could only carry the most basic small magic potions. After consuming one, he was out of supplies, and his magic recovery rate could not keep up with the rate at which the water prison was consuming his magic.
Finally, after a long minute, the water prison was lifted, but all Gemini’s regular magic had already been drained dry.
Of course, he still had his crystalline magic power to use. This was not a major issue; the real problem was the suffocation.
Without a supply of air, a person would faint within at most three minutes. Moreover, this timeline would shrink drastically in the throes of intense combat!
Immediately after the water prison disappeared, the long-awaiting merfolk and trolls rushed towards him. From a distance, Mu You had preemptively cast a spell such that a Snowball Curse seamlessly took effect the moment the water prison disappeared, freezing Gemini into an ice statue that lasted for about five seconds in the sea.
After enduring an onslaught from monsters for a full five seconds, Gemini no longer needed to wait for suffocation to set in before his health points were completely depleted. He flat-out died on the spot.
From then on, Gemini was caught in a cycle of dying either from suffocation due to a lack of air or being mauled to death by the swarm of monsters.
Death by suffocation is one of the most painful ways to die. With the foremost issue of oxygen deprivation, Gemini could hardly concentrate on fighting back against the monsters. Their relentless and brutal onslaught made his life a sheer misery.
The most valorous of them all was undoubtedly the Troll War God. Clutching the excellent-grade ’Iron Crystal Mace’ arranged for him by Mu You, he hammered blow after blow with increasing ferocity.
Each smash sent Gemini’s health points plummeting. However, he was also quickly losing his own health points.
Mu You, on the other hand, had it easy. He simply stayed at a distance and shot arrows and occasionally cast a Snowball Curse or a Shockwave to restrain Gemini. The situation was completely under his control.
The only thing that concerned him was that the Berserker was losing health much too quickly. By the time they had claimed Gemini’s fourth life, the Berserker’s health points had already dropped below 10%.
However, the positive side of this was them being able to kill more quickly. Having lost 90% of his health, the Berserker - fueled by the Berserker Bloodline - gained a more-than-100% bonus to his attack power and attack speed. The spike in his damage output was simply monstrous; each hammer blow visibly reduced a significant portion of his target’s health points.
Gemini was taken aback by the brute force of the troll. But given how low the troll’s health points were, he mustered up enough courage to counterattack. He controlled the power of his Heavenly Thunder Earthly Net spell and threw everything he had at the troll. This troll was evidently the other side’s main damage-dealer, contributing to 80% of the damage done to him. Whatever the cost, he had to take out this adversary first if he were to even stand a chance at escaping.
In doing so, Gemini soon discovered that the lower the troll’s health fell, the weaker his spells became.
Finally, when the troll’s health dropped to its last 100 points, Gemini’s spells were of little to no use. The troll was being healed at a faster rate by a Troll Witch Doctor’s AOE healing from a distance, compared to the rate at which he was losing health points.
It was only when he had died seven times that Gemini finally realized that the troll was resistant to magic.
Swiftly, Gemini replaced his weapon with a dagger and engaged in close combat with the nearly-dead troll.
This time, it was effective. Finally, the last of the troll’s health began to dwindle. However, just when the troll was on the brink of death, a barrier unexpectedly emanated from the troll, instantaneously deflecting Gemini’s attack.
No matter how much Gemini slashed afterwards, there was no effect. The troll’s health remained at its final point, even though he was soaked in blood from countless deep gashes, and closely resembled a carcass to be butchered, he was still standing.
The five seconds of invulnerability was already enough for the Berserker, in his most powerful state, to unleash his fury.
Soon enough, Gemini had died for the eighth time.
When he respawned, his eyes were filled with despair.
Didn’t divine justice exist anymore against such powerful summoned creatures that cheat death and kept their hit points locked?
Gemini wanted to flee immediately, but, in the limited space inside the bottle, where could he possibly escape to?
Soon enough, he was caught up by the summoned creatures again. The Troll War God, wielding his great hammer, was still leading the charge.
If Gemini chose to lock horns with him, Mu You’s Life Barrier would land on the troll instantaneously, locking his health points at 1. In his optimal state, along with the domineering body effect provided by his state of berserk, the troll would not be hindered by any spell. He had the ability to deplete all of Gemini’s health points within five seconds - such was the overbearing output of the Berserker.
The only restriction was Mu You’s ’Life Barrier’ cooldown, so the fastest they could kill Gemini was every 27 seconds.
